We are so happy to that you are able to return to sharing with us. Thank you. You absolutely deserve every syllable of praise you are given on the quality of your skills and their result: Arabella Also, the highlight of this episode was seeing my sewing machine - the Singer 301 - doing your fabric work.
About not telling people that you are the boat building before, you get a more honest opinion about the work you did then if you had told them beforehand. Glad to see you folks back, I had a busy summer and I can't believe it's November already
Intrinsic value Steve. You didn't have to do anything to "deserve" love and support. All of your value is wrapped up in the simple fact that you exist. May your soul rest and may your Mother's life resonate through you and live on as such!
You’re running a tight ship Steve and you deserve all the help you get as you never forget to acknowledge it; kudos. By the way, I’d like to congratulate Ben on the high quality of his videos and how he succeeds at embarking us on the voyage by giving the viewer all the space and making his work so seamless that we forget about it; I’m very grateful and admirative for that as well. Bless you all. 🙏🏼♥️
I'm enjoying the feeling of coming home to some old friends and a beautiful locale, some time working with my hands alongside those friends, quiet thoughts of a lobster feed and thinking "Let's cook on the boat 'cause those hundred steps each way..." Thank you one and all, looking forward to being away from home port and sailing on the tides. Fair Winds and Following Seas.
great pots, Riverside or Shepards Coated Wire i used to make pots for all around the UK, made a ton of Cuttle Fish pots, Lobster pots (some folding for the yachties), my favorite ones were the Prawn pots but after making 6500 pots over 4 years my hands began to ache too much to work - i been out the game since 2008 and my hands still ache if i overdo things - later diagnosed with Fibromyalgia so now i get why i ache so much love the comment made by the diver/boat builder, and nothing wrong with a little endulgence and self promotion Steve, you have built a fine boat, and lets think ahead to the next possible owner who can hopefully look back over this footage and say he or she now owns a fine boat built very well by a guy he started out as a non boat builder with zero experience other than the wood skills he has from his grandpa's workshop
did akiva get to see that seal, or whatever that animal was? that should have been a real treat, i know it was for me. another video full of wonderment and information, thank you.
I surfed the beaches from Salisbury to Kittery for many years throughout the winter and wondered, on those days where the ocean and the wind were perfect for sailing, why no one was out on there exercising their skills and enjoying the wind. To each his own....
"She is the license holder for lobster catching, only she is allowed to pull the baskets up" this can be convenient depending who says it🤣🤣🤣 But all jokes aside, that bay seems to be a lovely place to live, everything at a slower pace in life, perhaps maybe cold in winter, but still… Good to see that the Arabella and crew are getting back into adventure.
Hello, At T.C. : 10.55mnt, re to this splendid wood piece, May i suggest for "point" mooring-lines on the quay , the correct operation is to put "front point" mooring-line on the rear cleat of the bulwark, vice versa the rear mooring on the "rear point" quay will be on the front cleat of the bulwark. It is therefore necessary to cross these two moorings line in order to give more framing to the cleat when line is under a hard power Nice video thank you. bon courage and stay safee.
Just an FYI if you want to center the mast port to starboard take the halyard that is on the center of the mast and pull it to the chain plates. If it is the same to each side it is centered. If you try the level off the dock and eyeball if the boat has a list you will be off.
to hear someone comment on the building of Arabella has to feel really good inside. Steve have you and Robin married yet or is that in the future. Have not been keeping up with a lot . been in rehab sense last Christmas. but back now
I hope that's not quality herring you're using as bait because they're delicious raw or pickled with some white bread and onions! Although I do believe they work the best because they're so tasty
It is locally caught, then salted and put into 50 gallon barrels for storage. Apparently lobsters enjoy herring as much as I do, as it is generally considered the best type of bait.
I don't know if lobster are related to crayfish but as a boy my friends and I used to go crayfishing in a local creek. On the way to the creek we would stop at the neighborhood store to see if they had any beef liver that they were going to toss because of expectation date if not we would purchase a small amount for bait. The crayfish really went after the aged liver and not so much the "fresh" liver. I don't know if lobster would like beef liver at all but thought I'd throw that out for something to try.
Great video, as always. I'm so happy to see you guys back and headed S. A thought: if I pulled that zinc off my prop, I'd freak out! Is that from the electrical weirdness of just post launch, do you think? Enjoy the transit to warmth. And, Thank you for brightening my week.
This zinc, that was replaced after tracking down the electrical issues, has done its job in a much more typical amount of time. They just get like that, it's amazing.
@@AcornToArabella I have a GRP boat You've seen her, the white CC sloop w/ a blue cockpit (rain) shade, on the next dock over on launch day), fitted w/ a Flexofold prop. A very similar anode. I get a couple of years out of them, before I replace them proactively even though they seem fine. On a mooring , not in a slip, but I thought I recalled that that one was the second. It just seems kinda fast. I had a zinc go really fast on the shaft one year. I was in a slip at that time. I suspect a nearby boat had a shorepower issue.
It gives a wider range of capture for the whole system, no shadowing and better low angle capture are just a quick take. Think about what the constant changes are while sailing and where they are going to be exposed to the sun. The system will adjust to provide maximum input.
Followers since the begening, is it normal arabella look like 40 years old boat... Just after one year on water.... Juste a question from someone who have no sailing expérience
What a confidence builder to receive that unsolicited compliment on the quality of your build. Ya done good. That Singer 301 is such a wonderful old machine. It is an amazing workhorse. You mentioned the cable for the solar is 10/2. It looked like Romex. Is it UF cable or some other type?
I can answer for Steve, as I purchased that cable for them. It is 10/2 but it is special tinned stranded copper for marine use, not Romex. And yes, what a great compliment from Marray the diver!
I really missed you guys. Glad you’re back. Friday morning seems normal again. Safe journeys
Yep, I started back when they where felling timber and doing every other Friday. Its nice to see them back
Sure beats a stick in the eye or 16 titanium screws and a neck brace. Keep moving brother. It’s the only way forward.
My Fridays just got such a massive upgrade.
I welcome you guys back and am commenting to help you get the algo back on track. Lots of love.
gotta shake the seaweed out of the algorithm too! thanks for the extra help.
Thanks for being the best part of Friday mornings!
Nice to see you all again, glad Arabella's getting the attention she deserves...
Sometimes the help we get is pure grace. We didn't or couldn't do anything to deserve or earn it.
My lobster woman and I loved this video! You are all welcome back here any time!

YAY to having the boat fam back together!
Steve great to see the 3 loves of your life back at sea. Happy sailing.
Great to see you all back in action and Arabella underway.
Glad you are back, Great to see you heading south. Stay safe.
Love the ending shot with the three of you on deck with jackets. It looks like how it is just supposed to be. Safe travels!
So glad to having you back!
Wishing you fair winds and fairer weather for what must be some much needed R&R.
Great piece of editing at the intro. Fading in the sounds of hammers and other work as a transition to the video of the work itself. Nice!
Being a genuine person and putting good out in the world begets good coming back to you Steve. Happy Friday Akiva and Crew

*- I am so glad to see the "life-lines" {**17:47**} and netting on the sides. I had been wanting to see that for the longest time...Phew!*
Great having a normal Friday again now that you guys are back. All the best from a hospital in Glasgow, Scotland.
Time to go catch that sunshine and warmer winds! ❤️☀️⛵️

You may want to reconsider the shroud mounted panels. A lot of negatives with minimal production.

Good morning Akiva and Crew nice to see you back , Montreal Canada
Thank you for sharing. It's great to see you again and you deserve all the happiness in the world!
Steve's dodgy dodger is now an artful dodger :) great work, great video as always
Happy Friday everyone...
Bringing that dodger top down the ramp and onto the boat was a great bit of video editing. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great to see you sailing again!
we love Fridays again !!

You created and brought something beautiful into this world, thats why you deserve to be happy. Thanks for sharing.
A great video, good work everyone, and thanks for sharing.
iirc that anode is looking in a lot better shape this time around.
So glad you all got so much done and in such a great spot. Hoping you make it to warmer climates SOON!
It must feel very good getting Arabella back into shape and beginning the journey south!
Great progress! Happy motoring South. 😎
Happy sails! Happy trails! ⛵️
I always enjoy Ben’s musical accompaniment to the videos.
Great video seeing the boat getting ready to go and hearing the excellent sound track . Follow the birds head south !
Thanks very much. It will be nice to be warm!
Cool POV through the port hole. Another great video. Thank you!
While I'm excited for the new content, my heart goes out to you Steve. Thank you for sharing YOUR journey. ❤
Don't listen to Robin, be humble and be yourself. That was the perfect time to say you built the boat.
"Don't listen to Robin" is like the worst advice ever, but yeah, we know what you mean.
So happy to see the return of your regular videos.
And very good to be back at making them, thanks!!
Blessings
Good Morning from Sandwich, MA
And off you go!! Glad to see you back on the water.😊😊
Back to adventuring soon!
Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Happy Friday and A2A day from Plymouth UK
And, of course, Champ Lager for the crew! ;-)
Those boats take a lot of attention. 🎉

Haha, you got me there! But I will say that I also have a license… the rule is that everyone must haul their own traps! 😊
@@petern372 beautiful region where you live, love it…👍
Good Morning y'all
Arabella must be feeling like a more complete boat now that you have replaced the make-shift dodger with its permanent sleek one, it looks great!
Steve and Arabela. Both made of acorn😊 Akiva is still around. But Missing Alix (sigh)
Finally, Friday is here. Thanks!

I was about to say the same thing. Puts lots less strain on the scupper frame and lines don't like turning 90 plus degrees.

That Dodger is beautiful! I'm not a huge fan of fiberglass, but it has its uses.
Bravo!
15:04 dont forget to put drip loop on the wires.
Narrator: "There are many jobs to do."
Akiva: "Definitely NOT my problem. Excuse me while I finish my nap!"
He had an early retirement, lucky pup.

As a Maine lobsterman, I can tell you that use of animal guts for bait is not permitted under state regulations.
Don't know what you did to deserve it? Dude, you built a friggin boat! And apparently a very well built one! Crow a little!
15:50 nice shot of the names of some visitors to the boathouse. Seems such a long time ago... Anyone here recognize their name???
nice catch!
What you did to deserve it? Just being you Steve. 💟
establish a specific week a summer in boothbay (hemispheres permitting) so coincidences can be gamed 😘. i could host 8

"... Cape Cod."
😂
My preference is for those who don't lead with their self promotion. It'll come up naturally if it needs to. As we saw.
We feel the same, and its very likely to stay that way. 😉
How is the windage of those shroud-mounted panel going to affect the ability of the boat to heave to?
'Mmm, Labstahs!'...
Great Episode. I did not like the look of that prop Zinc. Still have stray current??
Love to know what model sewing machine that is.
I haven’t seen anyone hang PVs on their shrouds, there’s probably a reason for that. Windage maybe or bad angle?
It gives a wider range of capture for the whole system, no shadowing and better low angle capture are just a quick take.
