Poor old Bigfoot - when he got on the plane in the Netherlands he probably hoped he'd hook up and hike the PCT with some real hot fit chick and ....well...he got you....All joking aside, I think you have a buddy now for life. 😊
A trick I learned a few years ago in the sierras is to lay your sleeping bag on top of your tent when the sun is baking. Instant shade!
Wow. Mountain men. You guys are killing it and your smiles say it all
Almost 20 miles in the mountains.... impressive! I like your calm approach, it's clear that you have to really push yourself to get there which must make the triumph of reaching a pass so much sweeter. So may your legs be strong, the snow crunchy, and the vistas stunning!
Awesome job so far! San Joaquin is pronounced San WaH-Keen, my friend. Totally okay that you're encountering names you're not familiar with being from the East. Hang in there and thanks for sharing your epic journey with us!
I was stationed in the Navy at NAS Lemoore in the San Joaquin Valley in the 80s. It took me a little while to pronounce it without concentrating.
Big Foot has an interesting stride. He looks really loose and relaxed. Almost like he's just sauntering along.
Hi. I’m avidly following your PCT adventure from the UK. Nearly 60 yr old solo hiker here. Never done any long distance hikes but getting so much joy from watching yours. I’m loving the friendship you’ve built with Bigfoot & feel happy you have that brotherly connection. I’m looking forward to more of your PCT journey. Stay safe 😊
So impressed with your pace ! I’m glad you met someone who could keep the same pace as you, seems like you’re a bit quicker than average. Love the journey - appreciate you sharing the lows too. Important for us viewers to see those thoughts and witness how you navigate them.
That smile on your face crossing over Mather is amazing!! Keep up the great journey!
And I couldn't help but smIle too watching him!
Thoroughly enjoying your photography of the trail, and your sharing your adventure with us. Usually choose 2 or 3 hikers to follow each season. Anxiously awaiting for each new episode to appear. Thanks for taking us old timers along 🙏🙏. Stay safe. Schats Bakery in Bishop is amazing!!
The camp before Mather Pass reminds me of Kashmir. Cue Led Zeppelin! Perhaps that could be an Instagram short or something as you climb it.
The Basin campsite looks intriguing, too.
Sooo beautiful in the Sierras. It's one of my favorite places for sure.
No sound matches the crush, crunch of morning snow. Love it.
I absolutely love your attitude through all the challenges!
Mt lion print. I heard one roar when I was camping near the JMt. Unsettling for sure.
It wasn’t the force of the water that bent the bridge, it was the amount of snow last winter. Same thing happened to the bridge that’s damaged by Goddard Canyon.
Oh what Id do to have snow now…80 in ne PA.🤣🥵🥾🥾⛺️ Wow view right before your cold plunge was amazing!! 😎
As do I! In Phoenix AZ at end of May was 107F and this week is 113F but with minimal humidity! Breezes or winds are welcomed.
Nothing like jumping into some icy water to get your heart racing! Safe travels.
Epic music for an Epic pass!!!
You are so right , don't need the knorr sides when you can show us mountains and rivers. Really liking the mountain hiking. Stay safe
wow that might be lion prints, nice! crazy snow ascent on the pass this is just awesome// Roxana knows what you mean looking out the tent, we get that often out here... Spectacular days on the trail, so many great views thanks so much for sharing oh ps hilarious pronunciation there.. it is pronounced Wa Keen
Congrats on conquering Mather!
Love the swim. Even though it was definitely cold you proved what you said during you AT. Enjoy the swim when you can, embrace the experience.
The amount of water coming off the mountains is insane and glad you found some work arounds. As soon as I saw your feet on dirt I was like "It's been a min since I see his feet on dirt" then you made the same comment, lol. I don't mind watching the snow crossings but it makes me a little anxious for you so I like the dirt hiking better! Hike on and be safe!
Frozen got frozen nuts ;-) love the audio
What views! Lots of different sights and sounds. Glad the passes have gone well and that you’ve gotten a break from snow under foot! So glad you are practicing safe travel. Thanks for taking us along! Stay safe guys!
I watched The Codger's hike last season, and that truly was a mental year for snow. I highly recommend giving their channel a visit, if you haven't already that is, I'm well impressed with how they handled things, especially for being two older gentlemen. The year before that I followed along with Kyle Hates Hiking, and it's so exciting to see how different the journeys can be from year to year. Good wholesome content, I just wish I could be there doing it all with you. Happy Trails!
I followed them as well.
Wow, what an amazing adventure! Considering how long you have been planning and saving for this, is so nice to see you really appreciating the beauty of it. It's endearing that you share how much you miss your family. Don't stress too much about completing the entire thing, that's a statistic, take that time spent worrying about that and just soak it up. This is a once in a lifetime thing. Best PCT video since Dixies!
Great to see all are healthy and happy!
You're doing great!
Loving following you, my Husband is just behind you (a few days I think) so I get to see your footage and know what he has to face.
Andrew Skurka has the best intel on the Sierra!
You guys looked like you really enjoyed accomplishing those passes. I understand how you are missing your family, but this is a life defining experience. A small chunk of time without them in the grand scheme of time. My kids are 43, 36, 31. On my excursions whilst they were young, I missed them, but it all worked out fine. They turned out just fine. Kids are so resilient. Hike On!!!!
What a great inspiration you all are. Amazing scenery as well. Keep up the journey!
Keep up the great work you are killing it!! Thanks for another great vid!! Stay strong and keep on rockin it!!!
" The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time." - Jack London Enjoy your hike. Been watching your videos since the days of the beer bottle top covered coffee table you did your videos on.
Great, friend, I greet you from Indonesia
Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Go!
very good. i love ít
Would love to see a shot of the night/dark sky stars!
Still with you !!!!
Hi Greg and ty
That water may have been freezing cold but hopefully it helped your muscles lol
In my opinion, the three most sketchy passes on the PCT are Forrester, Glen, and Mather and you've already done those. Muir pass is easy, as are the rest that you have left on the PCT. I can't comment about Bishop and Piute as I've never crossed them. You guys are doing great. You'll pick up the mileage in NorCal and Oregon.
👍
Mountain Lion
Major congrats on what you've accomplished thus far. Seriously!
If you don't mind a probing inquiry, given how frustrated (and stressed) you've been by slow snow travel, do you think you'd have been happier skipping the High Sierra? I understand the desire for a "continuous" footpath, but it unfortunately seems (at least from the last several videos) that you aren't able to fully enjoy one of the most scenic stretches of trail in the world. And recent years suggest fire closures will make a continuous footpath exceedingly unlikely. Alternatively, one could return later and easily bang out 25 mile days on the dirt trails to finish on Mt. Whitney.
We've both debated this but ultimately I'm glad we trudged on. I think the major issue was people telling me how much I'll enjoy the Sierra but we both can't wait to get out of the snow. It's just not the right time to enjoy this place to the fullest. Maybe if I had a ton of money and an unlimited time frame.
@@FrozensAdventures Appreciate the honest reply. Certainly hope you enjoy the remainder of your trek. Plenty of marvelous beauty still to come!
Snowbos
I hope that when you project mileage going forward against your end date you realize you’ll be doing 30s in Oregon.
That's what people keep telling me and if that happens it will definitely help. But there's a lot of snow in Oregon ATM.
@@FrozensAdventures Oregon trail is at a lower elevation (hotter air temps). It will melt out before you get there. Hikers also drag mud from wet, melted areas onto the top of unmelted areas and the trail soon has a skid mark atop the snow for 1/4 mile. This darker snow melts even faster, and the process repeats. So worst case, when you get to OR, the trail will have melted down to the ground and you have snow on either side of you where hikers have not tread.
First.. I had to.
Kinda a dumb question but how do you dry off after jumping in water? Do you carry a travel towel?
I do l. It's rather dirty all the time because I also use it to clean my feet. It's also a hiker to trail / town towel. Bright red easy for cars to see. LiteAF sells them.
Did Bigfoot ever get his sleeping pad replaced?!
Nope they want a copy of the receipt which is in his house.
@@FrozensAdventures Oh wow - that is surprising and disappointing 😳
I saw you were hiking at Raccoon to prep for the PCT. That is my old neck of the woods! I thought I heard a South Western PA accent! We have been enjoying following along your adventure - keep it up!
Did you and Bigfoot meet on trail or did you know each other before?
Sorry if I missed you saying something, if so I missed it😊
We met in the desert under the I10
When you gonna say your not content in pittsburgh or with a job and cut the shit?
