Some great Nightwish songs that really feature Marco are "The Islander" (Live at Tampere) and "While your lips are still red" (Live at Wembley) There you can see he can also sing very softly.
Also live tribute to the Pink Floyd song "High Hopes" is really great.
And not to forget Weak Fantasy

The violinist is a Finnish Pekka Kuusisto, one of the most famous violinists in Finland. This concert was in Helsinki Finland so they asked him to drop by and perform with them.
The instrument played by Troy is an Irish Uillan bagpipe

Also it is an Irish bagpipe family called Uilleann pipes=Pipes of the Elbow/Elbow pipes.
Normal Scottish Highland bag pipes are much more louder and intrusive on soumd overall.
At this concert, Floor had only been in the band for 5 weeks and it wasn't all perfect. But I have to agree with you that BA 2018 was an absolute banger.
I may be in the minority here but I prefer Wacken 2013 version and this one would be the second-best. IMHO, Floor hypes a bit too much in the Buenos Aires version. Although I understand that she's just adjusting to a very lively audience there.

This guy, Tuomas Holopainen, is the "mad" genious behind the Nightwish. He composes and writes all the lyrics of almost all their songs, and arranges the orchestral parts. Haha, the violin player is Pekka Kuusisto, a very famous violin player. 😎👍

Come on, Marco is a lead singer of Tarot, one of the first english singing finnish metal bands, so head over there for Marco vocals, Pyre of gods, ashes to the stars, wings of darkness with crazy eyed hairmetal Marco etc:)

Marco is from the 80s. His band Tarot was formed in 1982. Watch their 80s music videos "Wings Of Darkness" and "Love´s Not Made For My Kind" and see if you recognize him. Since you seem to levitate towards Folk instruments and beer, this might be just the thing for you: "Korpiklaani - Beer, Beer".

The reason it doesn't sound like a bagpipe, is two-fold:
a) Troy is not playing with drone pipes (ubiquitous on Scottish pipes)
b) there is a TON of EQ in effect here... everything below 300 hz is gone.... sadly.
I respectfully suggest you hear/see the Buenos Aries version of this: MUCH better sound production, the dueling leads between Troy and Emppu is arguably more fun to watch, the EQ on the violiin here is... argh, from a musician and engineer (EE) the EQ on this cut is drek.
And the SA audience is totally a blast. Props to Argentina on this one.
And finally Floor dances... like, "clear the barroom/here comes a tornado" dances.

Marko is singing Phantom of the opera correctly, and only one who does that.
I still cant believe that yu didnt like Marcos interpretation of the phantom, most other reactors have basically said that he overshadowed Tarja because his performance was so great. Yes his voice was graspy and so on but that was because he was playing the character of the Phantom!
To be honest, I often cursed Marco for messing up the whole final part of the Phantom with his screaming. Neither the song nor Tarja deserved that.
That was a very bad foul by Marco, which he would never have dared to do if Tarja hadn't been fired.

He didn't overshadow Tarja ( and I haven't sen any reactors saying so either). They were both brilliant, and their voices sound so good together, perfect harmony!
LOL at Marco not having a great voice. He was PLAYING a character. A crazed psychopathic killer and his take is better than the original. The Phantom was a deranged madman. It always irked me that no one sang that part in character.
2 jokes about members of the band: "Name me an intrument you've never heard of, before." "xxx". "Troy can play it!"

Something beautiful to look out for: Marko recetly played in South America with Anneke van Giersbergen. Plus: a few months ago, the played at a school, somewhere in the north. Not a huge show. He just played at a school. How cool is that?

Tuomas told me he'd been working on "The Eyes of Sharbat Gula" for a while without really hitting the mark.
As I was listening to an early demo I thouht it sounded so intriguingly hypnotic that it really didn't need explanatory lyrics. When I mentioned this to Tuomas he said it had never occurred to him to think it like that. The song became an instrumental although there are some ethereal human voices in the background.
TONI: Troy, the other new member, didn't have to jump in as dramatically [as Floor], but he has become an irreplaceable part of this group, too. If there's tension in the air for some reason, Troy casts a spell and magically dispels the bad vibes.
EWO: Troy radiates the kind of cheerfulness that we sulky northerners can only dream of, but I guess some of his positive attitude has rubbed off on us, too.
TUOMAS on touring with Troy:
We start preparing about 30 minutes before the show [New York Hammerstein 2915], each of us in his or her own way. Floor changes on her stage clothes and warms up her voice in her dressing room, while we`re warming our fingers in ours. Back in the day, I used to get scared stiff before the show - it was just nauseating, pure horror. It all changed when Troy did some kind of a hypnotic trick to me in Los Angeles in 2012. I really don't know what happened during those twenty minutes, but afterwards, I haven't really panicked before going on slage.

You’re literally the only reactor I’ve seen that thinks Marko wasn’t good in their version of PoTO. He sang that song EXACTLY the way it should’ve been sung for their version.

@@HailHeidi I mean, it’s a metal cover of a musical….. his voice is purposefully creepy and gnarled…..yet he has chops. It’s the epitome of mixing the two genres . Obviously, it’s “to each their own” duh….. but once again, I’ve watched every single reaction to that song and played it for family and friends and so far you’re literally the only person that has a negative opinion. I’m not trashing you at all. I’m more perplexed than anything. Even take the one they did with Henk Port last year. He sings far more traditional and it’s great…. But it doesn’t hit the same. It is what it is I guess. No hate tho.

This is my first HaliDeidi video watch so I was also surprised to hear that the song she didn't like Marko on was Phantom. I've listened to hundreds of singers singing that song and that is actually my favourite Marko song and my favourite rendition of phantom. He purposely sounded demonic to play the character which is what really makes that version stand out to me. But as she mentioned, music is very subjective, otherwise we would all have the same favourite song and no need to listen to any other songs.

Marko has become a better all round singer since the departure of the first singer Tarja as it always seemed to be a battle. The second singer, Anette, was quite weak and Marko needed to sing a lot more to cover her inadequacies but not to drown her. With Floor he can sing however he feels most comfortable as she is able fit perfectly with him. This she has learned to do as she has guested with so many artists including Ayreon, Star One, Avantasia, Evergrey, Soilwork, MaYan, Delain, not to mention previous bands After Forever, ReVamp and Northward plus a solo album Paragon and appearances on Dutch TV show Beste Zangers and German TV show Sing Meinen Song where she sang many various covers incredibly well. Just to add that Floor had been with Nightwish approximately three months at this concert as she joined mid tour with only 48 hours to learn the setlist of 15 songs while travelling from The Netherlands to the USA.

You might have had a different reaction of PotO if you had watched him on a couple of other videos first. He was never going to sing it "straight". He is a rocker. It was a metal version of the song. You are absolutely allowed to have your own opinion, but you have to consider the other parameters. I'd also recommend "The Islander".

The Uilleann pipe is very difficult to play. Troy says you have to be a bit mental. I never played any pipe but that sounds about right

for good we don't know, he left the entire music industry when he left and not Nightwish. Now it looks like he has gotten a proper diagnosis so hopefully he will some day return.

Are Irish bagpipes harder to learn than Scottish ones? And what makes it so difficult? I tried Scottish once but it just sounded like a sheep taking its last breath. I thought I did everything right but no.

Start with:Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down - The Source (2017) ! take your time... 13 minutes! :) After this; Ayreon - Everybody Dies (Ayreon Universe) When you see and listen to more Ayreon, Marco will also pass by, but also Floor and many other well-known singers who participate in Ayreon! Oh yes I love Ayreon! My three favourite singers that have worked with Arjen are Damian Wilson, Hansi Kürsch and of course Mike Mills. I was lucky enough to hear all three of them live with the Live Beneath The Waves concert in Tilburg. I really like the Ayreon Universe version of River Of Time I mean Marco a singer I have adored since the start of my metal journey singing together with the singer of my favourite power metal band? Pure magic, I adore Nightwish and I adore Blind Guardian so Age Of Shadows while I am sad the Universe version doesn't have the We Are Forever part it is still magical to hear Hansi, Marco and Floor together.
