The life is funny, one day you're a young dancing in a basement goth club at downtown... in another one you're the father of a little girl call Julia.
❤
That’s amazing. How full circle things can be.
@@ck1327 Sadly gothic culture is over here in Brazil
Best Cold Wave song ever. And no one will ever look this cool again!!
Ladies and gentleman, here's the greatest riff from the coldwave generation 👏
I was in love with a girl named Julia. I played this song for her and she melted! She moved pretty far away and we lost touch. I think about her a lot, and this song gives me great memories 😎
I still remeber a SU.
....why are you gae?
yeah that never actually happened
@sandygrungerson1177 I can guess which part of my otherwise unremarkable story is hard for you to believe
@@Harry_Stylus yes. all of it.

I can never hear this song enough.
This bassline is epic
For sure. Yamaha BB series, likely inspired by Peter Hook.
Thank you
Absolutely sublimely superb!
Indeed
R.I.P Thierry Sobezyk.
May God receive you in your arms.
Ohhhhh yeaaaa too juiced up
Best band from France hands down, in my opinion they are up there with my heroes: Sad Lovers, Chameleons and The Sound.
I agree there. Alcest is a good current band from France, but Asylum Party really does have the greatness of the three bands you mentioned.
@@soysaucehairdye7869 cheers never heard that I'll check. Among the contemporary French bands , I found a band that seemed to come straight from the touching pop days : Frank just Frank. I loved them so much that I organised a gig in Milan back in 2010, great guys... The most shocking fact for me was that they told me they all came from a metal background.
@@synthzz9178 Nice man. Yeah Alcest comes from a metal background as well, but they mix shoegaze and a bunch of other stuff around.
Clan of xymox
I know i'm late but have you ever eard about Gestalt ? If no i recommend you "deuxième ombre"
Love this this, bumping this hard in the streets of South Central 🐿️
I've played this song an ungodly amount of times now
Oh yeah, I remember when we fucked on shrooms
surf surf ohhh yeaaa
I used to listen to an Australian shoegazer band called Lowtide who did a pretty good cover of this song. Now I just listen to this. Nothing's like the original. I've grown a deep love for Asylum Party's music and can't go a day without it now.
Wtf is shoegaze 🎵 music? 😶

As a old guard alt back in the late 70's early 80's i ask myself too.
@@dotline4759 I'm 66 & keep seeing it as a genre & i have absolutely no clue what it means. Greetings from Annapolis Maryland!❄️🌎❄️

My dear Pal i was 19 in 1980 so i guess..
What nowday's called Post Punk,Goth, wave scene, still in and play with my ol band mates and son :)

THAT GOOD SONG BREAKS THE BARRIER OF TIME.
True
ohhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Wow! There's no doubt the 80's was the best decade.
True
Sike
Sure. So many great bands came out that decade. Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Megadeth, the German Thrash Scene, Death just to mention a few...
Asylum Party, Little Nemo, Mary Goes Round, Babel 17.... they are the coldwave/touching pop cake; a melancholic chill that couldn't be less touching than something warm and optimistic. This song in particular is about two characters from George Orwell's book 1984; Winston and Julia, unlikely lovers caught within a dreary panopticon of a futuristic post WWII Britain.
French bands.
SURFS UP OOHHHH YEEAHHH!! COUNTIN UP OOOOHH YEAAHH!!!

Oh my god Thierry is gone, my heart ached with such sadness. Rest in peace. From a Brazilian fan =(
pois é cara :(
ohh yea

if you know how the things ended in the novel (1984), this song, more than a love song, turns into a kind of letter to the impossibility, and that's why it's so sad, but beautiful
What novel?
@@emptycinema 1984
Damn, just now I realize the inspiration of this song, got more epic, is just a Winston's declaration to julia
Hey, for everyone asking/surprised by the Yamaha logo, it's written in french that it was a musical springboard from Yamaha to win a Japan Tour.
RIP Thierry. Such an awesome, bad-ass bassist who deserved much more recognition.
What did he pass away from?
The greatest artists in history always go unnoticed and unappreciated : /
@@thetigerman Leukemia
does anyone know what bass he is playing here?
being underrated is part of the job of bassist 🎉
Such a gem! I love finding 80s Post-Punk bands I've never heard before
RIP THIERRY :((
I cry about it
The guy on the keyboard smoking 😂😂 ultra cool video.
I’ve always wondered if they’d ever reunite by some divine possibility. Looks like that’s not possible now that Thierry is gone. I love this band so much. RIP Thierry ❤️ 🌹
profund pain in the heart realizing that.. rip thierry
Big New-wave impact in my opinion.

This song is so freaking phenomenal!!!!!!!
Every time I bbq I listen to this in winter and sip whiskey good times 🤘🏻
Look at Pascale, elegantly smoking a cig, back then...
Wouldn't Olivier Champeau be a little nemo? Who would be the woman on the cover of the Borderline album?
RCB OH YE
Lots of contemporary artists attempt to emulate this sound but no one ever reaches these tones..
I can't get this song out of my head. Brilliant tune!

Muito feliz por me chamar Júlia neste momento.
I freaking love this song.
The song is great, the bass is beyond good.
The Colin Newman esque vocals are so smooth and silky, I just want to melt…….
Back in the day when Yamaha did brand deals with coldwave bands lmao

@@cathsalazar9930 the bassist passed away, the guy with the bleached hair. so sad... rip thierry
Yamaha actually sponsored the battle of the bands like competition which you are seeing Asylum Party play in here, the winner won a tour of Japan, AP did not win in the end, but of course they went on to be the most memorable
A ton of guys here mourning over their own Julia.
every guy needs a Julia in their lives
I bet if anyone plugged speakers to my soul, this song would play.
I wonder what would happen if the dudes in the video plugged in their instruments

The Lowtide version of this song is also excellent
Something about the way the acoustic guitar comes through the instrumental section makes me love this track
Yes!
It gives a sentimental and physical element to an otherwise cold and ethereal soundscape

It is their best song. It sounds really wavy.

At the end it sounds like something from Disintegration.
