Kids are the best for testing whether food taste good. They have NO filter regarding their opinions! hahaha Great Video! Thanks!

I have always preferred the taste of freeze dried food, but the convenance of MRE's makes the easier to use in an emergency. IMO

Great discussion. I do like the advantage of an MRE being ready to eat, with or without heating. People think I'm nuts for eating it cold, lol. You're right about freeze dried food and water. However, you CAN eat it straight out of the bag without water, does it taste good? I mean...it's not great, but it's possible. AND you also don't *need* to heat up the water, it can be eaten with cold water. Higher temps actually do decrease the shelf life of freeze dried, as well. BUT, it doesn't decrease it *that* much. Nice taste test trials. That is a really old MH you tried, hah. Interesting results. Maybe bad tastes, but maybe not *bad*. Great vid! Sorry for my long comment, lol.

That's kinda odd since recently MH stated their no10 cans and their pouches have a 30 year shelf life of stored correctly.

This was great, been searching for "bug out food supply" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Janameron Tenylan System - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy got excellent results with it.

Thanks for a very good and informative video. I like MH and MREs too and taking MREs broken down is a great way to cut down on weight and only take what you need. Sad to hear that the MH doesn't taste as good paste it's date, how about the LRP or other similar version that MH makes that is similar to it. Try making Pemican with certain additions and see how it goes, it also has a long self life, again thanks for a great video, stay well and happy during these crazy times. I have subscribed.

Not to mention if your water becomes contaminated then you can't rehydrate your food memories are already ready to go like you said you can just eat them

You mentioned at the begining that the MH was not vacuum sealed - that would reduce the shelf life a lot.

They changed the expiration date on mountain House pouches to thirty years but your saying that after ten years they become nasty?I genus’s if your hungry enough you will just eat it lol

Wandering Beast I have some of those old ones to I have a pile of expired ones but the company MH said those are good for thirty and changed the dating on the newer pouches. I was just doing a FYI and viewers so nobody chucked them . I was disappointed to here that after ten years the taste had degraded keep up the good work on series been watching since you were selling the thrive

Your mountain house may not have been stored too well. I just had a mountain house noodles and chicken meal that was made in 1999 and it was great.

Many people are getting the Harvest Right Freeze Dryer and making their own freeze dried food themselves. Perhaps a viable option for some.

You said you have to use boiling water for the freeze dryed.
mountain house freeze dried you can use room temp or cold water too.
Here is a video of someoen showing using water that is not boiled.
