It's hard to beat Mountain House!!! I've watched several reviews videos and Mountain House always gets the best rating. It's one of the more expensive ones, but it's worth it.
There’s a lot of competitors out there now. We need to purchase and review some of the other ones we are looking into. Thanks for your comment. Please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content.
FWIW....as a heavy equipment mechanic I had to go out in the field in cold weather...I would take my meals w me and my msr stove ...hot meal... I would buy the no ten cans of rice n chicken, add a two pk of stove top....cheap and extended..... since fauci COVID cost has gone up though. I would even eat this at the shop...if someone commented,I'd just say..guess you never signed blank check.
4Patriots... I ordered a years supply for a family of 4 in early 2020. It was not cheap. It must have been mishandled in shipping or damaged from the factory because those cases became the best rodent attractant I have ever seen. My RV was destroyed from rodents, my house was invaded. I had to sell my 43' Bunkhouse 5th wheel RV for $7k because of the damage. I had to do about $4k worth of repairs on my house from where the rats and mice had chewed through water pipes. The company never responded to any of my emails. Out of almost 40 totes full of food I only have 4 left. The food was horrible and there was nothing you could do for it but add more Tabasco sauce than most people can stand. We just started growing our own food and bought 40 chickens. It cost us less than half of the cost of the 4Patriots to turn our home into a small farm.
Oh boy! We are sorry to hear that! We have the mountain house one year food supply and so far so good, over a year stored and no rodent problems yet. Everything is in sealed cans and in cases. We are sorry to hear about your experience and damage. Thanks for watching and pleas subscribe if you enjoy our content.
What did you never check it? Couldn't see few getting thier before it destroyed your house? Anyways good telling people so they don't just leave it without checking it every so often.
I ordered the three day survival pack. Opened it and found 3 bags. Impractical for a single person. No real meat proteins. 4P is all carbs. Not for me.
All that food could have stored in metal and glass containers they are rodent proof. That was your learning experience! Sorry you went thru all that.😢 Think-ask questions of more experienced people.....
4Patriots has been running a 3 72 hour packs for cost of one. Mountain House set up is now 142.00 - Ebay has it for 108.24 on sale. So roughly 9 days of food for 27.00 plus shipping vs the Mountain House. If you need to save money you can produce smaller packs of the three big packs. Carry several gallon sized freezer ziplock bags to put the cooked food in. I do believe though that the 4patriot 72 hour product is geared more towards folk who are sheltering in place, you have access to a stove/grill etc, water - hopefully have stored up enough for the event, utensils etc.
While I have never personally tried 4patriots brand as my grandfather always said if anyone is ever selling thier holliness , pariotism or honesty it is wise to be skeptical and in most of the comparisons 4patriots doesn't fare to well
Interesting, we don't wish 4patriots harm and they have some things right. We just gave our honest opinion in the comparison. We appreciate you watching our channel and for your comment. Please subscribe if you enjoy our content👍🏼😊
I would go with mountain house any day Over 4 Patriot, I would much rather have real meat than flavored stuff. And and real chunks of vegetables not little Tiny tiny bits. Basically all 4 Patriot Is a bunch of carbs starches and whey
I pretty much agree with what you’re saying as well. I appreciate you watching our video. Please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content. Thanks for your comment.
Mountain house works easier for an individual, and 4 patriots is better for a family size. We have both in our house. MH is my on the go choice , and 4PATs is for staying home cooking.
The 4Patriots 72-hour Emergency Food "Kit" wouldn't adequately feed 4 people for even a day! It contains 4800 calories, or 1600 calories for one person for three days or 1200 calories for 4 people for one day. Whereas Augason Farms has actual 24-hour emergency food KITS that contain 2000plus calories, cooking pouches, water cans, and utensils for $20 each. The 72-hour Emergency Food Kit contains standable food pouches, utensils, plus 3 cans of water for "cooking" and a fourth can for drinking.
@@erockz8123 Yes I have. Since the 2019 Covid crisis I've been heavily into their gallon cans of dried veggies, ( have over a dozen gallon cans of Augason Farms dried peppers, spinach flakes, potato slices, dried carrots, powdered eggs, dried vegetable stew assortment, and more in my pantry), and as I'm sitting here in my kitchen I'm looking at two 92 serving Emergency Food Supply pails of their Lunch and Dinner meals; the ones containing 21000+ tasty calories. Also, I'm looking forward to adding protein sources of Canine Jerky, Smoked Feline, and Salted Neighbor when that day comes.
If those were dehydrated meals their shelf life in those bags would only be 2-3 years tops. Since they are FREEZE DRIED meals they can store for 29 years.
Yes, taste matters BUT always check calorie count. A lot of meals are actly low calorie even the so called 72 hr emergency kits. Now Mountain House has a lot of meals that are two serving but most adults would eat it all in one go
You are so correct. I've noticed that the serving sizes have been manipulated here and there. I do try to pay attention to that. Thank you for your great point please and subscribe if you enjoyed our content.
I really appreciate you doing this film as I have 4Patriot 1 year supply. It's good to know that they taste good. I am now going to supplement my food with Mountain House just to try different food flavors. Thank you.
That is one of the things I noticed with all the different brands of freeze dried foods out there. They all have a limited number of meals, but the Mountain House does have a wider selections. If I were to buy bulk freeze dried foods I would buy from at least 2 different companies just for the wider selection. Having the same limited number of meals available for a year would get very boring.
I am just starting down this road of dehydrated meals but I am going the DIY route. You have full control over the meals and ingredients used. Just bought a food Dehydrator and going to start dehydrating stuff from my Garden.
look into the difference between freeze dried and dehydrated foods. That should give you a bunch of fun ideas for things to dehydrate and maybe even learn a diy freeze-dry method too!
Great preparedness ideas Bill, rotating stock is so necessary but many times the most overlooked or ignored. Thanks for watching, please subscribe if you enjoy our content.
Do just a note on the rehydration of food I'm not a fan of f 4 Patriots. By far out of different freeze-dried companies out there mountain houses. Pricey but you get what you pay for. Anyway I just wanted to comment you really don't need hot water I've been on the move knowing that once I get to my location I will be able to eat quickly. And there were several hours in between. I've just poured the amount of cold water and one of my meals, sealed it up threw it into my rucksack and continued on. Several hours later when it was time to eat it was good to go. What I recommend they always say 10 minutes to soak in hot water or cold, if you have the chance to let it soak for over an hour it totally totally rehydrates.
Let's not forget that even after the 21 cups of water to prepare the food, you need an additional 12 cups of water to drink per day minimum. Dehydration will kill you in 72hrs with symptoms starting within a few hours depending on how hydrated you were prior to SHTF. If it is for a stay in place scenario water shouldn't be an issue if you planned a head. Safe drinking ater will be worth its weight in gold.
Your all over it Daryl! In addition each gallon of water weighs roughly 7.5 lbs per gallon so its also a logistical consideration for weight and storage. Thanks for your comment and for watching our video! Please subscribe if you haven't already we are going to do some more meal review/comparison videos soon.
MRE's are heavier yes they're already what we call wet food that you don't have to add water to. They have and produce more trash. They're heavier and bulky to pack and carry these meals are very lightweight and have a longer shelf life. I've eaten many MRE's in my military days. They're great for grab and go if you have the room to pack and store them. I hope this answers your question please like and subscribe if you enjoyed our content
Good morning. I am privileged to own a Harvest Right. So I make my own. All that said, in this vid, I noticed that the products are identified as dehydrated at the beginning and then freeze dried at the opening of the pouch. At WM, I see Mountain House but not Patriots. Overall, great vid. Everyone should have some backup. Folks, keep getting into it, prepping that is. Stay vigilant and informed. Thank you, both.
My wife want to get a dehydrator, that is on our short list. Thanks so much for sharing and for your feedback. We appreciate you watching! Please subscribe if you enjoy our content.
One, thanks for serving brother. I retired after 22 years myself. Appreciate the info, have tried Readywise and Mountain House but never 4Patriots. From what I’m reading 4Patriots doesn’t seem like the best. I was a pilot on Hawks and now fly Cargo planes and on long hauls I take a few meals with me always so I can just add some boiling water and enjoy. Catering is not always the best. You should add in some items that allows folks to filter river or lake water so they don’t have to carry as much weight if they don’t want to. Just an option is all but keep the videos going and God bless.
Thanks so much, brother and thank you for your service. I discussed water filtration in our bug out bag videos. I appreciate you watching please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content.
I don't know.. I had that 4Patriots mac and cheese and there was no cheese flavor at all.. it was like noodles in white sauce when I tried it. I guess they're different depending on the manufacturer date.
Interesting I didn’t know they varied by when they were produced. Obviously we gave our opinion on the comparison. I appreciate your feedback and thanks for watching our content. Please give us a like and subscribe if you enjoyed it.
Great review guys, wish I seen this before I ordered my patriot , I'm happy with it but I really love the travel ability and easy cooking and clean up of the other. Thank you very much !!!
went hunting a few years ago and have two of these on hand. it was pouring down rain and there was no way i could of gotten a fire started. i just added water and it still worked for MT House. A hot meal is nice but not needed
Good to know. Thanks for your comment and engagement and for watching our content please subscribe and give us a like if you enjoy our content as we’re trying to grow our channel. Cheers.
A really good comparison would be a medium priced product like 4PatriotSupply against similarly priced competitors. UA-camrs Equip2Endure compared about 12 different brands across a wide spectrum of price and taste..
I have several of both of these brands, but honestly I've mostly just stored them without tasting. So I appreciate the comparisons. However, I did recently taste/review the 4patriots mac cheese and it was really good.
Something else as far as extending flavors, what I have done with my say like a beef entree meal while I'm comparing the hot water I put a beef broth in it. Really makes a difference. Same if it's a chicken entree meal I'll throw away chicken broth cube in the water while boiling it.
Great ideal @catspurrlounge, thanks for sharing that tip. Definitely going to try that! Sounds like the flavor would be so much richer, and additional nutrition value! Please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content.
Thanks for that idea @brentbarr7800. We will have to check Thrive out. Please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content as we are trying to grow our channel👍😁
I really don’t like the single bag bulk food bags. You also have to measure out the dry material, a water boiling container. Plus you don’t have the variety you get from Mountain house. You get what you pay for. * edit. I also like MH for total calories. Even over Wise. I don’t expect to get 2000 calories a day but you get more bang for the bucks$ with MH. And nice review.
I have a box of MH from Costco and just got the 4P pack. I'm disappointed that there 4P only gives three pouches for 3 days. So I must portion out the oatmeal, mac and cheese, and creamy rice and store it. That was a negative. On their website, I got buy one get two free and in a disaster where hot water might be an issue I won't be inclined to buy this brand. In 72 hours I would use more than one bag and need to break into one of the free bags. I like the ability to close the MH since even if I needed to put any available water I could store it overnight and it would be edible even if not cooked with hot water.
All great points Natalie, great analysis of water volume and consumption needs. We appreciate the seal-ability of MH as well, great to be able to eat some of your meal then be able to seal it to eat more later or if you have to move etc.. Please subscribe if you enjoy our content, and thanks again for your comments.
When I think of MH I think backpacking short trips and 4Patriots for true survival situations/disasters where you are not traveling. I've used both and like each for their own reasons. Loved the review!
I have backpacked a lot and if the Patriots need a bowl that is a huge NO for me. I have used Mountain many times and I would not buy anything that you have to have a bowl. The easy mixing and not having to wash a bowl is important to me. Thanks.
I mix and match. Since I usually backpack and hike I guess MH or Peak are my favs.. For long term storage it varies along with my own food stores.. I enjoy the review.. Thanks!
I've Had The Mountain House Blueberry Granola - It's Great, A Solid 4 Out Of 5 If Not A 5.... However, The Pouch Says 2 Servings But Was Only Like 1 Serving For Me.... SO - With That In Mind, I've Adjusted My Expectations On All The Survival Foods To Twice As Much To Ensure I Actually Have The Right Amount Of Servings.... I Should Probably Try Some More Pouches And Not Base It On Only One Item Though.... Anyway, I'm Glad You Seem To Like The 4Patriots As Well - In That I Have A Lot Of Those Also... Just Haven't Tried Any Yet.... Survival Food Isn't Meant To Be Gourmet, Just Good Enough That You Can Actually Eat It And Survive... Of Course, The Better It Tastes Does Help....
I find taking my extra teams to put in these meals makes them better, summer sausage, canned chicken or tune, hot sauce ECT.. you have to cook to your own tastes. But these are a good base to start with
Totally agree @timjohnson1703, I like to customize meals as well. Takes me back to my old Army days making Ramen in my canteen cup, then I would add cheese packet from my MRE, hot sauce and meat from the MRE to back a good souped up meal. Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content.
You are so correct and thanks for your comment. A food dehydrator has been on our list for quite some time. Your comment may process to get going with that. Thanks for watching please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content.
I feel patriots need to invest in freeze dryers for the next couple of years. We have a politically unstable situation right now. Involve your friends, neighbors, family, anyone you don’t want to see go hungry.
all i can say is, we ordered 2 totes plus an extra box of misc goodies. we wanted to try out the products and if we liked them we wanted to stock up for at least 2 years worth, like 2 full pallets. OH BOY WERE WE IN FOR A SURPRISE...... the totes came in covered in ants, inside the totes were full blown ants everywhere, AT LEAST 10,000 ANTS, and particles of food everywhere. IT WAS SOOO GROSS AND NASTY. every package of food covered in ants inside both totes. MY HEART SUNK. we just spent hundreds of dollars on this order, BUT I WAS DETERMINED TO MAKE IT WORK, so we literally removed each package, wiped each one off, checked each one for holes and did our best to find the damaged packs. we had ants crawling on our hands and arms and im not an ant fan but one of us was freaking out about the creepy crawlys all over her. then we cleaned the totes out, wiped them down and re packed all the food. we ended up finding 7-8 packages of food, each one with some type of hole in it and still wondered how many we missed and where did all these ants even come from. the totes, open packs and all have been sitting on a concrete floor since that day, and all the ants were killed or maybe they went on vacation idk BUT since that day we have had no ants. ITS LIKE THE ANTS WERE SHIPPED FROM THE FACTORY INSIDE THE TOTES. honestly we are grossed out at the thot of insects being all over our food and inside the packs and which ones may be ruined or spoiled bc the seals are broken and which ones may have dead ants in them. we contacted 4patriotS and from the first second were given the run around as if its standard procedure to just basically say F YOU to the customer who just spent hundreds of dollars on some emergency food. this emergency food was supposed to last for years and years and years BUT ours lasted till it got to our address covered in ants! this was a terrible mistake ordering from this company and based on how fast they responded with the BS, im wondering how many more customers got stuck with a bunch of worthless "ant filled food". i was honestly shocked that an american company treated me this way. i dont care what company you order food from, if it arrived covered in thousands of ants and you find multiple packeges cut open and contents spilled everywhere.... YOU DESERVE A FREAKIN REFUND! this was an expensive, horrible experience and all we were trying to do was order some emergency food we could store on a shelf so we wouldnt go hungry in an emergency and this company played on our fears, made promises of delicous food that we could store for years and how it would be there in an emergency for us AND THEY LIED TO US AND DIDNT STAND BEHIND THEIR GROTESQUE MISREPRESENTATION OF THEIR PRODUCT. SHAME ON ME FOR TRusTING AND BELIEVING THEM, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
That's strange I bought from 4patriots everything was perfect-arrived quickly, was clean, no bugs at all, no problems at all. Sorry your experience was so bad
@@originalnightshade4582 me too. we wanted im everything to be ok so we could order more but sadly no such luck. with as many thousands of ants that the containers were filled with, everything was just incredibly gross. believe me, i will never here the end of that story…. EVER. the i told you so’s have yet to slow down… LOL. oh well you live and you learn.
@@kinggzz Sadly, with all the recent events, Patriot and Tactical have become mere buzzwords. So, I'll not buy any product with patriot on it. As for tactical, just look for the NSN #. No NSN = wannabe B.S. If it's foreign gear, they have NSN as well.
Even though it is unlikely that an emergency would cut off your food supply for two weeks, consider maintaining a supply that will last that long. -FEMA 4Patriots is very affordable, at about $27.00 for a 3 day supply of food. I've tried 4Patriots and It's mostly oatmeal. There's also mac & cheese, which is alright. The creamy chicken with broccoli is the best meal of the 3. It'll get you through a 3 day time frame with no problems. I would recommend them to anyone on their preparedness journey.
Happy yak freeze dried meals are a newer company that look really good as a more premium healthier option re-sealable mylar bags large pieces of meats and veggies the company advertises a 2 year shelf life but it could be because they haven't been around long enough to test there older foods like the older brands but it's all freezedried and sealed so just a thought
I used to buy the cans of mountain house spaghetti at bimart in Oregon, but they quit carrying.... breakfast skillet is pricey but good once you get water amt down. Still have a supply stashed.
One other item if not already covered is that MPS now has MRE's w heater packs, 12 meals in a setup so 3 a day for 4 days, 1100 to 1300 calories per meal. 98.00 dollars. Like MRE's shelf life is shorter - 3 years or so but MRE's if taken care of can lost much longer. Steve at Steve1989MRE has eaten rations from (I believe) the Civil War. I do not recommend that! More suited than the other setup (the 72 hr bag) for venturing into the hinterlands.
O K, i have watched a lot of emergency food videos, always good reviews on the MH brand, haven't seen 4Patriots review ever. so that was good. i do have a Readywise bucket. i did have to eat some of those. don't care for them. they were kind of good, but boil the water, use a bowl or plate etc. y'all seem to be (sounds strange but thankful)normal everyday folks, compared to the YTubers that test this stuff all the time. Price is the deciding factor, as well as ease of prep. and definitely taste. So i really thank you for this video.
Great comments David, thanks for watching. My wife and I would like to think we are regular folks. We appreciate you watching and we will be doing another food review soon, please subscribe if you enjoy our content.
Julius, just watch the shelf life of MRE's, they are obviously way shorter than the freeze dried meals. But MRE's are quick and easy as they are wet meals, pretty plug and play. They are also bulky compared to the dried meals as well. Good job getting prepared and working on your backup food supply!
Here's an idea: has anyone used crockpot liners when you cook the 4 Patriots foods? (Without the crock pot) Worst case senario, use larger pot to boil water, then line a slightly smaller pot to cook the 4 Patriots meal. ( double boiler method for the uninformed)
Sounds like it could be a good technique. We're not big fans of the four patriots product. I appreciate your comment though and for watching our video please like and subscribe if you enjoyed our content.
Prices are frequently in flux, sales etc. But I (Rick) always want the 1.5 or 2 person serving sized meals for myself, in my bugout bag, hunting pack, survival bag, car kit etc. I want the bigger meal size as will probably be under duress and burning alot of calories and if Im going to take the time and effort to heat water and prepare a meal, I might as well make a little more. I can eat some reseal it and it more later. On the best bang for the buck, you cant go wrong with the menu item of choice from Mountain House as they are so prevalent in many sporting goods stores. But shop other brands and sales. I hope this kinda answers your question. Thank you for watching, please subscribe if you enjoy our content.
To be honest I've always used mountain house...I do have two pairs of 120 vegetarian meals...wise? Hav'nt tried, and when I do they'll be non vegetarian. FWIW...I've used my house in a glad bowl, add from big can,hot water from water cooler ie hot side, cover n wait five min.....I've also tried instant potatoes, stovetop, etc....there are no rules people....when you're cold n hungry, hot food not too salty or burnt is a welcome meal....and to me better than mre's
The elephant in the room is that Mountain House provides top quality meals, while the 4 Patriots is providing cheap, low quality, starchy fillers as meals. Instead of $9 for an envelope of Mac & Cheese (see 4:43),you can salt a way a lot more standard grocery food, or buy a package of MH. There is obviously a reason why the 4 Patriot ads talk about having emergency food, but never explain what kind of food it is. For survival, think about what you like to eat, and stockpile some of that.
I still stick with MRE's , the Chili Mac is the best but the Mexican Stew is pretty darn good to. I'm a military antiques and firearms dealer so I work gun shows and run across them at great prices at the shows but my son is US Navy and he also gets them for me.
MREs are great if you have access to them and I definitely agree that chili mac is delicious! Emery don't need any water cooking of water which is nice but they are bulky and heavier. Always trade-offs
Primarily yes, but you can use it for whatever purpose you choose. Thanks for watching and for your comment, please subscribe if you enjoy our content.
It's also Great in the field in freezing weather....when others are eating warm food from thermos and you're eating hot food...for boiling water you want a small msr pot and a pocket rocket,or equivalent so you're not waiting....I've even used a rosebud on my victor and stainless steel msr pot ...keep it small....but I've enjoyed mountain house for years.
Having probs getting low-carb options for freeze-dried meals. This is fine if one is hiking, but just sitting, wouldn’t work. I have the sugars (that’s Southern for type-2 diabetes). I wonder if it wouldn’t just be cheaper to buy a freeze-dryer and Mylar bags?
Ya, these meals are definitely not for special dietary needs. I like your breakdown and use of the word "sugars". I spent quite a few years in the south during my military service, thoroughly enjoyed the people! So, yes you can do the freeze dryer and mylar thing, then you have complete control of what the contents and food quality looks like. Just an initial investment for the equipment and the food you use as well as your time and effort, go for it.
When they accept your payment, you purchased delivery insurance, you file a claim and they NEVER email, call or even try to help you, who DID NOT receive your order. Try someone else. Surely, there are other companies that can deliver a product that you paid for.
Thats too bad! Which company 4patriots or Mountain House? Thanks for your comment and for watching. Please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content.
Great information as always. Unfortunately this package is 260$ Canadian right now. Keeping an eye out for them regardless. I'm curious if you guys will show or try making meals, with heat packs, in mylar bags. Ive been wanting to try but I cant source the food grade heat packs.
Man house spaghetti is my favorite but haven’t tried my patriot of the wise food either but with mres my favorite is spaghetti also meal no 5 I think we have got pails and boxes of all of them my two daughters aren’t into prepping me and my wife are all in to the point I bought an off grid cabin fully self contained we’re not rich by any means but thanks to god were miles ahead of millions of people 😀
Great thanks for the comment Eric. Sounds like you have probably checked out our off grid cabin build videos, if not check them out! Good job having food preparedness. I also loved the spaghetti MRE in my Army days. Please subscribe if you like our content.

Have you tried food from My Patriot Supply? I've only tried the Potato Soup & it's great. I saw another video where they were comparing 4Patriots to My Patriot Supply & they say the Mac & Cheese tastes much better from My Patriot Supply. Everyone's tastes are different, so I may try more brands.
No not yet, maybe we will have to do a taste and review soon! Thanks for watching and for your recommendation. Please subscribe if you enjoy our content.
what i have always wondered. where are all of these people bugging out to. i picture them driving by people going in the oppisite direction of each other and finding each others house to bug out in. and if eight million people go to the woods. is it really the woods or just a large camp ground thats is going into total madness.
🤣🥲 I know where I’m going as I have planned my location based off of its tactical value. There won’t be 8 million people going where I’m headed. You bring up a interesting point though. Please subscribe if you enjoy our content, we are trying to grow our channel. Take care
I saw another video complaining about 4 Patriots as it required water for reconstitution. The narrator went rigidly by the directions for making up a multimeal pack (oatmeal). I think the issue he had was he was expecting the 4Patriot product to be like an MRE or like a single/double serve Mountain House pack. I believe that 4Patriots is trying to provide for all situations and gives larger packs as you could be feeding your family. It was a gallon or two I believe for the multi meal package. Sorry I do not have the exact amount handy. If you are feeding 8 servings then you could break that up into vacuum sealed bags if taking it out into the outback. I like 4Patriots and Mountain House. They are aiming at a group that is slightly different than a family who is stuck due to weather etc. Certainly, as with a Venn Diagram, there is going to be sizeable overlap.
Thanks @geraldbock1012, for your engagement and comprehensive recommendations and comments. We appreciate it! We hope to get some more meal review videos done soon. Please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content as we are trying to grow our channel. Thanks so much!
Thx for the video! My opinion, buy both for options and variety. 25 - 30 years is long enough in the future who knows what that future will be and how many changes will happen personally and society wise. Bad grammar there but it’s UA-cam not English 101. Thx for sharing
I wasn’t aware of that. When we bought our two on your food supplies, that was a lot less than that we got ours through Costco not sure where your shopping your food supply prices through or if Costco is even carrying the one your food supply anymore. One thing is for sure. Everything is more expensive now as we all know unfortunately. Thank you for your comment and information please like and subscribe to our channel if you enjoyed our content thanks again.
Absolutely warning with food 4 patriots. I ordered products from them. Ask to return. Before the return they sent replacement. I didn't ask for replacement. Two months.later without notice they re charged for solor kettle. ... I would not for life trust what is in there food
Sorry to hear that I've heard a few viewers. Say they've had problems with them as well. We simply gave our opinion as stated in our video not our favorite. Thanks for watching please like and subscribe if you enjoyed our content
Definitely an investment, the sad part is they have gone way up in cost from there. Depending on budget you can purchase a case every so often and build up. Appreciate you watching! Please subscribe if you enjoy our content!
Any “emergency food” like 4patriots, auguson farms, or readywise are piss poor when compared to Mountain House. The House has meat and waaay more flavor. However, Mountain House is piss poor when compared to things like Peak Refuel, which has exceptional calories, protein and flavor. It just doesn’t hold to 25 years.
Agreed. When we did this video in our area, Peak refuel was pretty much nonexistent and very new. We have discovered it as well and light their product ingredients, etc. we are getting ready to do a review of a couple of their meals soon. Thanks for watching please like and subscribe if you enjoyed our content.
Im sorry to hear that, We understand as we have a couple friends with the same condition. Maybe we should research if there are any preparedness foods that are gluten free and review them. Thanks for your comment and for watching. Please subscribe if you enjoy our content.
Convenience and pre-prepared food with a long shelf life with fairly good quality cost money. You are correct you can get your own freeze dryer and do it yourself and store your own food. We look at doing that in the near future. Thank you for watching our channel, please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content.
We are about ready to do a meal review between two peak refuel meals. They do have better quality ingredients and I like that they now have more meat main meals.
Mountain houses verbiage is "Longest proven shelf life in the industry! Backed by a 30-Year Taste Guarantee." 4Patriots Verbiage: "designed for 25 years shelf life" Do with that what you will!
Yeah, good point. I did see that mountain House had a longer shelf life. Thanks for your engagement and for watching our video please give us a like and subscribe to our channel if you enjoy our content. Thanks so much.
@LifeintheNorth40 yeaaa and I just cracked some open myself. There is a huge value in not needing another container for the mountain houses and the cook time difference is insane.
Oh man, I was on the fence and I’m seeing that 4Patriots has too many negatives. I never even knew Mountain House existed. I’ll be getting a 1 year supply for the 4 of us in my family. That should give us 4 a guaranteed 2-3 months supply.

Last time Patriots did a buy one get two 72 hour kits I was disappointed....it was mostly mango chili, barely any variety

Lol mabe you should add some cat's to take care of your rodent problem.
As retired military I like the comparison to MREs, it gives me a better idea as to what they taste like
4Patriots has been running a 3 72 hour packs for cost of one.
He was right. 4 patriots has gmo or bio-engineered ingredients. Poison
I dont know how anyone can enjoy eating this sloppy-Pig food or prison food.
@jason....I saw a guy do a review some of the 4Patriots stuff. I know that He gave the OATMEAL deal 2 thumbs down BE WELL & SAFE!
Mountain house works easier for an individual, and 4 patriots is better for a family size. We have both in our house. MH is my on the go choice , and 4PATs is for staying home cooking.
Well put, they each work best in those roles. Thanks for watching
They also assume one has an unlimited supply of fuel. If electricity is off, it becomes harder.
If those were dehydrated meals their shelf life in those bags would only be 2-3 years tops. Since they are FREEZE DRIED meals they can store for 29 years.
Added thing , with 4-P’s food you need extra water for clean up , pots pans and bowls . Something to think about .
Great point, thanks for that. Thanks for watching and for your comment please like and subscribe if you enjoyed our content.
Most people tend to overeat anyway. All mammals are predisposed to overeat

Sounds great!
I mix some canned meat and a couple Mountain House breakfasts to the 4patriots 72 hour pack. Rotate, meds, batteries, and canned goods semi annually.
Great preparedness ideas Bill, rotating stock is so necessary but many times the most overlooked or ignored. Thanks for watching, please subscribe if you enjoy our content.
Do just a note on the rehydration of food I'm not a fan of f
4 Patriots.
Good field expedient hack, you are only limited by your imagination. Thanks for watching and for sharing!
It's strange that all the commercials on this video are for 4patriots hum ,strange.
I've always been a mountain House guy but nice to see some other options. Great job , keep the videos coming.
Thanks, will do!
I've seen the hiking videos where the people add boiling water to the bag of food. Wouldn't MRE be a better idea?

Mountain House is cheaper and better than going to a restaurant, at least in California, and after Biden’s temporary inflation.
Taste wise and ingredient wise, the 2 best nationally available brands are Mountain House and Peak Refuel.
However the cost per meal for both are extremely expensive unless it’s on sale at Costco (Mountain House available in 2021 at Costco).
A really good comparison would be a medium priced product like 4PatriotSupply against similarly priced competitors. UA-camrs Equip2Endure compared about 12 different brands across a wide spectrum of price and taste..

Thank you! I just bought a peak meal and can't wait to try it and compare to mountain house!
I have several of both of these brands, but honestly I've mostly just stored them without tasting. So I appreciate the comparisons. However, I did recently taste/review the 4patriots mac cheese and it was really good.
You bet! Glad you can get some info from us. Please subscribe if you enjoy our content.
Do Peak Refuel vs Thrive. They are manufactured in the same building in American Fork Utah.
Thanks for that idea @brentbarr7800. We will have to check Thrive out. Please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content as we are trying to grow our channel👍😁
“Good to go” brand is clean and made by a Michelin chef. But only last about 3-5 years. But, they taste fantastic.
Thanks for the tip, have to check that out
I really don’t like the single bag bulk food bags.
Thats kinda what we discovered as well Jeff. Good to compare and review.
@@LifeintheNorth40 4th video of yours that I’ve seen. I like your work, you got a New subscriber here.👍
Thanks for your comments and support Jeff! We appreciate your support!
Great interaction! Very informative and interesting. Loved this video. Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍
When I think of MH I think backpacking short trips and 4Patriots for true survival situations/disasters where you are not traveling. I've used both and like each for their own reasons. Loved the review!
Well said we agree! Thanks for watching!
Excellent and thorough review you two! Thank you~!
Thanks so much, we appreciate you taking the time to not only watch but reach out to us as well! Thanks for your support!
I have backpacked a lot and if the Patriots need a bowl that is a huge NO for me. I have used Mountain many times and I would not buy anything that you have to have a bowl. The easy mixing and not having to wash a bowl is important to me. Thanks.
I totally agree. The ease of use in its own bag makes it a huge deal.
I mix and match. Since I usually backpack and hike I guess MH or Peak are my favs.. For long term storage it varies along with my own food stores.. I enjoy the review.. Thanks!
We just bought Peak for the first time! Excited to try it! Thanks for watching 😊
@@LifeintheNorth40 Yeah u gotta experiment and pick your favs.. MH is better in some areas, Peak in others :)

Totally agree @timjohnson1703, I like to customize meals as well. Or you could look into the home versions of freeze dryers and make your own. You could make enough to last a lifetime.
@@LifeintheNorth40you want a freeze dryer not a dehydrator. With a dehydrator you lose the nutrients, a freeze dryer your food retains the nutrients.
I'm addicted to Mountain House.
all i can say is, we ordered 2 totes plus an extra box of misc goodies. we wanted to try out the products and if we liked them we wanted to stock up for at least 2 years worth, like 2 full pallets.
Unbelievable! Wow, sad story. Thanks for cluing us in on this.
Somehow I think you’re bullshitting. They have a 100% satisfaction promise. Why you didn’t just send it back makes no sense!
Mountain House has an amazingly long shelf life!
Don’t know if they still do but in the past amount gain House made ECW MREs. Extreme Cold Weather MREs.
Never tried them myself.
I didn't know that. They make generally good stuff.
MH still makes MCW's - Meal Cold Weather.
Also referred to as LRP's - Long Range Patrol.
Great video and great explanations from both of you. Love the To Do List coffee cup
Thanks so much! That is one of our favorite cups 😂
Even though it is unlikely that an emergency would cut off your food supply for two weeks, consider maintaining a supply that will last that long. -FEMA
4Patriots is very affordable, at about $27.00 for a 3 day supply of food. I've tried 4Patriots and It's mostly oatmeal. There's also mac & cheese, which is alright. The creamy chicken with broccoli is the best meal of the 3. It'll get you through a 3 day time frame with no problems. I would recommend them to anyone on their preparedness journey.
Thanks for weighing in Revolutionary Prepper. Appreciate you watching out video.
It has bio-engineered or gmo food ingredients. Poison
Thanks for the info!
numanna has an organic option and also gluten free option(s). All there products are GMO free and no added preservatives.
Thanks for the info, we will have to try some of those!
Sounds great but how does it taste, and what does it cost?

Do either offer a low carb option?
That's a great question! I haven't personally seen any low-carb options in these meals. Please like and subscribe if you enjoyed our content.
Just as an ASIDE? I sent an e-mail to 4Patriots asking about solar charger for my cell phone? Never heard ANYTHING back from them!

I noticed that Readywise is watery and bland. But when/if hungry, and that's all there is........
Yea that was great as I’m trying to get at least a month for now. Have 11 days maybe I’ll get 2 boxes of MRE’s
I sent all my 4 patriots stuff back, was very unhappy with it and it took way to long to cook the stuff

Good thing. I'm sending mine back because they use gmo or bio-engineered ingredients
@@SHEEPLESUCKI found the same with the Auguson Farms 72hour buckets that were sold at Walmart.
Of everything y’all have tried, researched even, what would you say is the best bang for the buck in terms of quantity?

Mountain house is made for hiking and backpacking
If you can afford a freeze dryer. They are extremely expensive. I am learning that prepping is very expensive
Excellent review guys!

@@LifeintheNorth40 4Patriots. Maybe they will make it right. We do like your content. Thanks!
Have you tried Augason Farms freeze dried meals? How do you/we safely re-bag this type of food if the product bag is bulk or more than 2 servings?
No we haven't, thanks for letting us know I am going to research Augason farms freeze dried meals right now. Thanks for watching!
you two are adorable.. you both win the Couples Jawline award lol.
great vid, thank you
Hahaha we will take that award win 🤣 thank you!
Great information as always. Unfortunately this package is 260$ Canadian right now. Keeping an eye out for them regardless. I'm curious if you guys will show or try making meals, with heat packs, in mylar bags. Ive been wanting to try but I cant source the food grade heat packs.
Thats is super expensive, wow keep your eye on them. If you figure that our let us know.
You can't beat bear creek soups. Their cheaper and better tasting. Because they are completely dried they will last for years.
Laughing at the way R just throws the eating utensils down!
Great informative video :)
Thanks @taylornation320! We appreciate your comment and for watching! Please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content as we are trying to grow our channel.
I would add the chili mac to the mac and cheese perfect...
Great idea! I love both of those! Thanks for watching and for your comment. Please like and subscribe if you enjoyed our content.
What is the public's best opinion? Something that is delicious.
Seems like the feedback we have received is the mountain house tastes better than 4Patriots on average.
@@LifeintheNorth40but do they use gmo or bio-engineered food ingredients like 4 patriots?
what i have always wondered. where are all of these people bugging out to. i picture them driving by people going in the oppisite direction of each other and finding each others house to bug out in. and if eight million people go to the woods. is it really the woods or just a large camp ground thats is going into total madness.
🤣🥲 I know where I’m going as I have planned my location based off of its tactical value. There won’t be 8 million people going where I’m headed. You bring up a interesting point though. Please subscribe if you enjoy our content, we are trying to grow our channel. Take care
Please do a review of Peak Refuel with Mountain House.
You're Welcome! Yes 30 years is a long time and we don't know what the future will hold!
Honestly, I can make and package my own for a lot less, and more quantity.
If you have a freeze dryer! They are so expensive
I use both and like them both!
MH is 10k vs 3k of others for a one year kit. Lol. MH may more expensive. 4x!
Don’t forget serving sizes can be deferent
Totally true!
great mug
Absolutely warning with food 4 patriots. I ordered products from them. Ask to return. Before the return they sent replacement. I didn't ask for replacement. Two months.later without notice they re charged for solor kettle. ... I would not for life trust what is in there food
Sorry to hear that I've heard a few viewers. Say they've had problems with them as well. We simply gave our opinion as stated in our video not our favorite. Thanks for watching please like and subscribe if you enjoyed our content
Where are 4 Patriots products made?
The company is based in Nashville, TN. Some of the components are only made in China.
Thanks for letting us in on that crucial info! Definitely turned off with ingredients from China.
And they contain bio-engineered or gmo food ingredients
Oh my Gosh, I heard the same thing about China with 4 patriots.
$2,780.00?
How many Patriots" can afford that?
Try comparing Peak with Mountain House
Thanks we will research Peak Meals!
I would buy neither one because they’re not gluten-free. Those of us with celiac’s disease. Have to be very very careful with what bye.
Im sorry to hear that, We understand as we have a couple friends with the same condition. Maybe we should research if there are any preparedness foods that are gluten free and review them. Thanks for your comment and for watching. Please subscribe if you enjoy our content.
Is it just me, or does this guy look like he could be related to Woody Harrelson?
😂 Well not sure thats a good or a bad thing. Thanks for watching Please subscribe if you enjoy our content!
LOL, gotta love you people. A 72 hour survival kit is 1) a water filter 2) a knife 3) a tarp.
Everyone has enough fat on their asses to last 72 hours.
First time viewer..after some extended periods issued just MRE's( in my previous life)..these 2 products would have been a nice changup.
Thanks for watching RJM60! Ya, I have had to endure a diet of MRE's for extended periods of time as well, sure got old quick!
$700 for a 3 month supply? What did it cost you to produce it? $50 - 100 ??
Convenience and pre-prepared food with a long shelf life with fairly good quality cost money. You are correct you can get your own freeze dryer and do it yourself and store your own food. We look at doing that in the near future. Thank you for watching our channel, please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content.
Really granola bars? They are already 2.00 ready to go. I mean how long are you hikeing.
YOU ~ ROCK ! !
PEAK 2 REFUEL...THE BEST THERE IS...
We are about ready to do a meal review between two peak refuel meals. They do have better quality ingredients and I like that they now have more meat main meals.
Mountain houses verbiage is "Longest proven shelf life in the industry! Backed by a 30-Year Taste Guarantee."
4Patriots Verbiage: "designed for 25 years shelf life"
Do with that what you will!
Glad this helped
