also some gfuel, i found that it gave me 50 more fps and my fans went down to 0 rpm and my temps were -20 degrees

Its worth of you only get the exact FPS you wanted but It goes lower than that at times. Like you get 60 FPS max but it goes 55 at times. Then you get consistent 60 FPS after this.

about the only option you have there is to lower your screen/game resolution and be sure to give the on board graphics as much ram as you can in the bios.....other than that your looking at buying a stand alone GPU

But... That IS overclocking, actually! Right?!?
You allow the card to "take" more power (basically increases its voltage), and increases frequency___> THAT'S overclocking!
So, only difference is that in this case software does all the work, you don't need to adjust things manually and worry about overstepping the boundaries of power/temperature!
This is only easier and mostly safer way of overclocking.
No, it was throttled down from start using factory defaults, a thermal throttle and a voltage throttle to keep power consumption down so they can claim a lower TDP in marketing. These settings just let the card run at it's given max potential without changing the max gpu core or ram speeds.

Dont overclock,up the power limit and temperature threshold and spin the fan faster so you let the GPU overclock itself. This is good when you are about to sell your GPU you can say you never overcloked the GPU.
Gyengye Gabor or , overclock it and reset all clock settings to default when selling it and say that you never overclocked it :)

Great video but two things Jayz missed:
1. Replacing the stick TIM with high performance TIM will yield you 4-10*C cooler temps across all brands, reference and non-reference coolers;
2. Cooling CAN make a difference to total TDP used. IE. if you watercooling the GPU like many of us do, you don't need all that wattage used-up to drive the fans, subtracting from the total GPU TDP as our water pump off the mobo is a separate power draw. :) This will give you more amperage towards a higher boost clock available in order to top out TDP.
Late reply but he does also say at the start that the tip(s) are for those not wanting to overclock. I highly doubt someone who doesn't want to overclock, wants to take the card apart.
Also the less heat the gpu is under the less voltage it needs so it's kinda hand-in-hand
personally i have the 1080ti FTW3 and also have the 1080ti Kingpin and love them. II think the titan Xp is a wast when compared to a 1080ti.

I was stupid a few months ago and decided to increase my coreclock (+1000) and my computer crashed and I couldn't boot up my computer without crashing :3 I was curious
Same here added 800mhz on memory and it worked and then i was like fuck it and dragged the slidder to Max 1000mhz+. PC crashed but i restarted the computer in safe mode and unistalled afterburner

This worked great, I did it in MSI Afterburner instead because EVGAS program is steam based now and i don't want to be "In-game" the whole time. I did the same thing in Afterburner but took the fan curves from the EVGA program. I dropped 10 degrees Celsius and now I never go over my temp limit which results in it never having to halt. The only con is that it is a little bit louder than i am use to but that's just something i'll have to get use to. Great and easy guide, you've earned a subscriber.

I saw an improvement of 1fps with my GTX 1070. Keep in mind that the max power target for this specific GPU unit that I own is only 112%. :(
After searching for a couple of weeks, couldn't get BG1 to run a constant 60 fps at medium (6600 I5, GTX 970, 16 GIg ram) did this and a little core oc (150 plus) and can now run BF at 60 fps on high. So glad I came across this! Thanks Jay!

I think a lot of people miss the fact that the best improvement came at the min FPS stat. The increase from 19 fps to 30 is a massive improvement in gaming experience over an avg fps of 98 to 104.

You can increase fps by removing the screw the arrow is pointing at.
It releases built up pressure in the shroud that hinders thermals
It helps draw in the eye. If it was just a plain picture, you may have scrolled past
I plan to follow these steps to first get an idea of where my 3GB MSI Gaming X will go before manually OCing. You should make another video though of how to set an optimal custom fan curve in Nvidia & AMD's latest GPU's.
A popular fan profile is the temperature (C) = The fan speed %. This will usually keep most modern gpu's between 50-70c that is unless you have one of those AMD fireballs ^^
Chrismax I'm sorry I don't quite understand what you mean. What I meant was how aggressive or vertically sharp a fan profile should be. Also should there be an actual curve & either concave or convex?

Waaaaay cool. I've been trying to figure out why my Gigabyte 1070 G1 card refused to go any further than a 30mhz overclock without the display driver crashing. I struggeld to get it up over 1800MHz, now after raising the power and thermal limits, i'm running at 2GHz stable, temperatures refusing to go any higher than 70 degrees thanks to the power of the windforce cooler. This video is golden!

Those graphic cards look so nice, I think that the black front cover should be an LED touch screen, why? Because it will look much cooler, but also when the card gets too hot it can turn on and dissipate the extra energy into light to keep the graphics card cooler without making much noise and looking even much cooler.

Watching this a second time, I noticed something I'm not sure Jay pointed out. The improvement gain in minimum FPS of 7 frames. Averaging 31 FPS as to 24 FPS. That is what kills me in Fallout 4, those sub 30 dips. Thanks for the info Jay.

So after doing this method my Galax GEFORCE GTX 1060 6Gb graphics card went from 1544MHz Base clock and 1759MHz boost clock, My results were 1898Mhz and max temp reached was 63c and stock cooling no watercooling.... Thank you for this video it helped so much. I dont need nor want to overlcock but that little extra performance made a huge difference. Thank You
IDk if I'm looking at something different on MSI Afterburner(I don't have Wattman cause I don't have a 400 series AMD card - I have an R9 280), but there is nothing in the MSI Afterburner settings that allows you to prioritize temperature target or power target.
There is, its a drop down menu next to the power setting.

don't work with old card, you need a gpuboost 3.0 compatible card. I have the 780ti and i can put any valor past 100% and the clock never change, and tbh i can also put 90% and the clock stay over there

i am always using msi afterburner and i tend to buy sapphire cards. afterburner is the best for OC imho. i recently got an x99 msi motherboard but please dont judge me, it was cheap

Yeah all the different overclocking utilities work with whatever brand of graphics cards. MSI, ASUS, EVGA it doesn't matter.

On the test, the minimum framerate change was much more exciting than the average change. 19.63 minimum framerate to 29.66 is huge and I'm surprised you didn't mention it.

Wow. I play for 6-8hrs on my off days with a modest overclock n small voltage gain with my gtx1050ti low profile and it stays constant 33-35°c. Defenitly greatful i practically created a wind tunnel thru my machine. Good tips Jay. Always good 2 run thru vids in case u find 1 lil change that impacts ur performance even a lil.

Not redundant at all. The amount of internal heat on the die is not the same as the amount of heat in watts that it dissipates. Also, "Rather than specifying CPU's real power dissipation, TDP serves as the nominal value for designing CPU cooling systems."

I watched from the time marker you posted three times to make sure I didn't miss anything. What you posted starts at the "both temperature and TDP" line, which cuts off about half of what you are referencing in your comment, and, regardless, I disagree. TDP does not refer to temperature at all. I spelled out the definition that you already read from Wiki, so I'm not sure why you keep claiming they are the same thing. One is total energy radiated as heat into the system that needs to be taken away by cooling, the other is the the temperature on the die of the GPU, which, I am literally just repeating myself and I feel crazy, but there it is. I'm pretty certain he misspoke when he referred to power draw as = to TDP, but you saying that Temperate = TDP is not accurate at all.

Before you OC Know this. I can get 200 FPS on Oblivion with max settings according to my video card a new AMD RX 580 on top of a Ryzen 6 core 1600 - And you Might too.. But you'll Never see it - you see 60 fps Always UNLESS you have a monitor that has a higher refresh rate than 60 hertz. Hertz = FPS. Bottom line in FPS is your Monitor, Not your video card and no matter how many tweaks you apply, you'll never see higher FPS unless you change your monitor as Most people have 60 hertz monitors.
Good point to make, i chose a lower resolution monitor but with a higher refresh rate for that reason.
Divergent Droid no, if you let it run at that high frame rate taking in the consideration that you only have 60 hertz will make the game feel smoother *AND* will reduce latency.
FPS and the frequency are not the same. Frames per second are the number of frames calculated per second, the actual graphics card is running at a much higher frequency to make all the calculations necessary. The frequency of the monitor or refresh rate is how often the monitor redraws the screen. If the monitor is running at 100 Hz and the game is running at 60Hz then the monitor refreshes the screen almost twice per frame which can cause issues. This difference can actually create artifacts and tearing in the image, to negate this some monitors and cards support FreeSync or GSync which dynamically matches the refresh rate to the internal FPS. Unfortunately to use that feature you need to have a monitor and graphics card that support the same feature (NVidia makes GSync while AMD makes FreeSync though I've heard NVidia cards are supposed to start supporting FreeSync as well).
BLOWER VOLUME, is NO PROBLEM! Listen, take your blower style apart. Are you surprised the vents in the back are sealed? It looks like air goes in the back right? It does not. It only comes in the turbine hole. Thats sucks (pun>hue). Drill out the back of the card. It will pull air in the back and the bottom now. You will get WAY more air flow. Replace the thermal paste with Artic 4. Then remove your blower fan, and attach it back with thick squishy double sided tape.
Your card will now be a total hot rod beast.

with nvidia prioritizing quiet fans over maximum performance, the main reason for throttling is probably temperature.
i ran some tests myself and changing the targets was not even necessary to get improvements - simply changing the fan curve of my brothers GTX 970 already did boost performance a LOT - of course it did also add a lot of noise.
not just because of the fan ramped up but the card also developed a serious amount of "coil whine" during the test
