When a company with a reputation as good as EVGA breaks ties with Nvidia, it tells me something about Nvidia.
Time to to go intel gpus now I can't await for a 4080 equivalent of arc to happen amd is a console brand anyway they are gonna struggle against intel in the gpu market
Be awesome to have a blue team only pc build that can do 4k at decent frame rates
amd is a very good brand still for the average gamer that values price to performance@@jonathanoxlade4252
@@jonathanoxlade4252that’s a weird take. Amd gpus have been competitive, and Intel with there insane marketing I’ll take my chances with amd.
@@jonathanoxlade4252 "AMD is a console brand"
Bro, you could just say you don't want AMD. You don't have to spout complete nonsense as your reason for it
i hope so. i informed the card fab dept head of the disgust with Nvidia and how A 4090 intel competitor would fly off the shelf especially if it was a bit cheaper lets PRAY! they see the fkn light
I was in the EVGA queue to buy a 3060. The email notification that I got (10 months later) to finally buy it went to my junk mail. So I didn't see it until a few weeks later. Contacted EVGA to ask to be put back into the queue. Instead they just put a 3060 into my cart right then and there. They were really awesome about the whole thing. Great vendor for graphics cards and will be missed.
I'm expecting them to end up partnering with amd in the near future. I can't see them giving up in the GPU space completely.
LOL... yeah they had to get rid of that *^%&$
@@positrack99 The 12Gb of vram means the 3060 can take on certain computational memory hungry tasks that none of the 8Gb cards can. Which is exactly what I bought it for, so I'm happy with the purchase.
he probably meant getting rid of *nvidia* :D
I have owned GPUs from all sorts of AIBs and EVGA has been nothing but great to me. I had a 1080 die outside warranty and they replaced it at no charge and the support staff was so genuinely helpful. I have sworn by EVGA ever since. Really sad to hear this.
Wow outside of warranty? That's pretty excellent support, I must say.
They are all the same IMO . only shape and RPG is different.
I always buy the cheapest , owning Gigabyte right now and it's fine
Mind if I ask what time frame this is? I was burned so hard by their RMA program ~2008. I hope they're much much better now, but I haven't bought an EVGA product since my abysmal experience with them.
@@Carpythesharky i think it was around 2 years ago this happened? Give or take a bit but certainly more recent than that. I have had several cards and PSUs since and its been smooth sailing.
@@samgregg Nice good to know. I will explore a bit more. Glad everything is working out great.
This makes me feel actual sadness. I would have never expected to feel this emotion about two companies cutting ties.
I literally feel the same way. I was really thinking about my next card EVGA cause I’ve had such a good experience with them.
I won't give a damn if nVidia ever goes out of business, those greedy a*holes.
This is the same feeling that I had back in the day when BFG went out of business. I still have some of the merch.
@@ka0skontrol504 I don’t really have an opinion either way about evga but I do remember when 3dfx went under and voodoo cards went away, that was sad. I also missed Diamond TNT cards as well.
@@TheCrimsonOwl you can still get one and use it like always…it’s just that they are not going to manufacture moving forward….. you are going to get full support for everything on the current ones
I had a friend who had a defective card from EVGA, and man let me tell you to this day almost 10 years later my friend refuses to buy any other brand of graphics card. That customer service support was so on point👌
When dude had a dead card and ended up loving the company, you know they do it right.
I had the opposite. Returned my new 1060 within warranty after it randomly died. Returned without repair or replace because they said it smelled like cigarette smoke. Not even a smoker. Refuse to buy EVGA brand products since.
@@Magnum062 Nice story.
I don't blame him. EVGA is a pleasure to work with. I don't currently own an EVGA graphics card but I do own other stuff but when I had a 970 I had problems twice and both times EVGA was tentative and understanding. Their communication is great and on point and every time I needed help, graphics card or other they always helped.
I can relate,top notch service
EVGA has been my go to GPU manufacturer for ages and I consider them a pretty good company. Basically the best for Customer Support too.
Highly agree. I had to use their customer support for a few various things and their response time and actual process in getting it resolved was very quick and super easy. I have also used their Step-Up program before to upgrade my 3070Ti, and it took a total of 6 days from the time I shipped them my 3070Ti, to get my 3080, I was blown away! Such good customer service, as well as badass cards.
Literally the best customer support. I briefly mentioned I was looking at MSI's cards instead and they pretty much fucking vault tech rep'd me and sold me a $950 GPU for $725.
And back during 2018 during the first crisis I got a 1070 ftw off them for $400 by contacting them directly.
I am genuinely upset.
Edit: I forgot they also sent me a Tshirt and one of their keyboards for free.
Was about to post exactly this.
I've never needed computer support in my life, and I realize that EVGA is just a custom hardware assembly company. It is no insult to your loyalty, but a general sign that pragmatism is often overlooked in the short term. I value the technology more than the brand.
Good for EVGA leaving this abusive relationship. This reflects really well on them.
That's why Jay is saying it feels like a divorce; it literally is ending an abusive relationship.
Stop supporting abusers!
I respect EVGA for doing this. Honestly, I think this is a great move, as you mentioned, they did some amazing things with making GPUs in the past, and it shows how creative EVGA and their staff is, yet NVIDIA took that creativity away from their partners. Moving forward I think this will make EVGA design incredible things in the future. EVGA has the best warranty of any GPU maker and as others mentioned, this was the ONLY company during the shortage that did everything in their power to keep their prices down and to make sure everyone was able to get a GPU using their query system.
I do like the Founder Editions by NVIDIA as they are very affordable and extremely well made, but as you mentioned NVIDIA was selling these much less than their partners and it takes away business from their partners.
Very affordable? You got insane markup and price gouging mixed up with FAIR PRICES.
@@93ChayZfr, these Nvidia fans are goofy ash 😂
@@FLAMEalan Yeah thats right lol.
WOW... I'm going to miss EVGA. They have been the only company I have used since building my own PC for the first time. Just sad.
Me too. 4 comps built and have only used EVGA
They're not exactly going out of business just breaking with Nvidia
@@Coolpachito I'm aware. I think you missed the point.
@@Rillust Uh sure.
I am pretty sure EVGA was the only company that had the sign up program to guarantee yourself a card during the height of the pandemic and their customer service was incomparable against the other AIBs. It’s really sad to see this happening.
I disagree I think its a great thing for consumers to see an AIB finally take a stand against their shady business practices now both AMD and Nvidia know what can happen if they keep fucking around
@@vincentellsworth7905 I think they mean its sad to see EVGA forced into it, not that their action is sad
They had a program but it was hugely defective. I signed up for it and never heard back from them...to this day. Bought a 3080 from EVGA on my own a month ago.
@@vincentellsworth7905 NVidia does not give two shits what AIBs do. They're pulling an Apple and eventually will plan to make all their GPUs in house. EVGA saw the writing on the wall and dipped.
Lmao well good luck to Nvidia then. Until they get their own foundry not even apple is completely integrated
10 out of the 11 gpus I have bought over the years were EVGA cards . I have to say I'm sad to hear this. Thank You EVGA for the amazing products and great support .
That is a ton of cards.
@@35mm21 If I bought by looks, I liked the Aorus the best which still costs 300 more than I paid for my FE that was paid for by a Zotac 2070 Super with a profit.
@D I made money getting my card. Where there is a will, there is a way. I didn't scalp GPU's either.
@@35mm21 How much support do you guys need? Is this a new user thing?
@@35mm21 I've never had trouble with any warranties though I haven't had to use them for computer parts. This makes me wonder why EVGA has so many customer service groupies. Are their cards so prone to breaking that people are relieved that they honor their warranty? I truly am perplexed, but maybe it is all the kids trying to make computers???? Overclockers lying? Miner's running them into the ground? Not dusting?? I just don't get it.
Used to use a buddy's machine back in the day because he had an EVGA GTX580 and it ROCKED. Always had good experiences with them.
Honestly feels like I should buy a 30 series card not only just to support them after supporting us for so long but to have something that was the last of it's kind
My 3080ti FTW3 just went up in price
This is a phenomenal opportunity for AMD to reach out to EVGA and give EVGA the freedom to design their own AMD gpus. AMD can build a stronger relationship with AIBs and leverage a better, stronger gpu marketshare. I only have an Nvidia card because I wanted to get an EVGA. I'm sure there a lot of people that are in the same boat.
I don't think Sapphire would like this idea.
Amd already has enough board partners I don’t think they need anymore for there market share.
it seems like they are pulling out of the GPU market altogether though
I hope so. Amd needs to really hit it out of the park with rdna 3 and start delivering 1080p capable apus.
@@ashc3765 probably not but this would be a huge pr win. Take all the things that made them leave nvidia and flip every one of them.
Hearing how EVGA has decided to handle themselves over the years, I've firmly decided I want to be a customer that looks to them for products first when I need something. Particularly how they've decided to not sell the company because they won't want some profit only people in control of the company.
of course they wouldn't and that's a smart decision. Profit only people don't know shit about taking care of the company. They will just destroy everything through greed. It's been happening to many game company's and even businesses. yet here i am still not able to understand what makes idiot people like these still try their luck when they know greed doesn't get anything far
Capitalism is at fault with so many things in society. Replace or evolve that into everyone benefiting instead of a tiny minority of morbidly wealthy that pay people below them millions to spout their lies. We could already live in a world with no money, class or poverty but we don't because alot of us have grown up believing the opposite. We know free markets don't work and are controlled by the wealthy, we can't have modern kings and queens called ceos that effect the lives of so many at an instance with no remorse. People in the future will look back on our society like we do with the dark ages, as horror and disgust due to most of society having to work to live and survive because a tiny class of morbidly wealthy took too much profit they deemed fair and lived life to the fullest. Right wing economics since the 1980s have made this possible but Capitalism as a whole was never the answer even from 1932-1980 but it did work better for alot of society than it has since 1980 to today.
@@_spooT Agreed. You'd think people would learn from history, but nope.
@@_spooT Because in the short term it does help them and their personal bottom line. People like that know what they're doing. They know those actions destroy a company, but it profits them, again personally in the short term when they get massive bonuses. They're like corporate pirates in a way. They move from company to company sinking it and looting it for whatever they can.
@@natefunk1 I know why they do it, and thank you for informing me, but still, even tho i know they exist, I just can't stand scummy people that exists in our world. If they were leaders of a country they'd have no problems throwing away the lives of their own people for their own personal gain. They're like trash that pollutes our species. Sometimes you just wish they'd be gone in a snap, but alas, we have to face reality
I read about this in a computer mag. Good to hear about it from Jay. Incredible, you didn't know how strict they were until the end of the line.
I built my first PC at the beginning of when things got shut down for Covid-19. I love my 2070 Super FTW 3, and planned on staying a customer of their GPU’s whenever I decide to upgrade. Sad that I’ll only have the one I currently use. I’ll never buy a FE card after this, shame on you Nvidia.
Freaking heartbreaking. I’m pretty disgusted with Nvidia right now. We love you EVGA!
they been doing shit for years and morons keep buying there stuff so it will continue. Me im happy with my 6950xt tho i will be buying a 7950xt aswell same crap happened with xfx
😔❤
and from the other side: HAHAHAHAHAHA That's what you get EVGA. Ripping people off, selling in mass out the back door to crypto companies. People crying for EVGA and hating on NVIDIA because EVGA sold at 3x MSRP. Bye EVGA I hope you rot in he double hockey sticks forever.
Mad respect to EVGA for this move. If this is what they thought was right for them then I wish them all the best. I don’t own any EVGA products but maybe I start buying their power supplies after this move.
I can vouch for EVGA. I've been using them for years, especially their power supplies. Top notch customer support and power supplies. If your power supply fails and it's still under warranty they'll send you a brand new one.
Every EVGA card I have used has been fantastic. The only card manufacturer other than Sapphire for AMD I haven’t had an issue with. Their PSUs are also great.
Their power supplies are really reliable. I still have a 500watt power supply from my first build in late 2015 that it going strong after being used in multiple builds afterwards as well as a 650 watt from 2016. There are affordable and reliable.
I have a evga 1000w gold psu in my system that I've been using for 8+ years and it's rock solid. You won't be disappointed
I own a 3080 TI and a 1000 T2 PSU from EVGA. Their customer support is second to none. I really hope they can partner with AMD and compete with Sapphire.
Did I read the title right? Wow - thanks for the great news and please keep it up! ❤ 😄 I am going to get one of your shirts! I think it is hilarious!
Been building pc's with evga components since about the same time as you ~2003. Build around 15 pcs for myself or friends and I never had any issues with any parts. EVGA was always like knowing that you get value for you money and if there would have been a problem you got their well known rma system. Defo will miss them a lot.
Years ago I bought my first graphics card, a 960 4gb card from EVGA. Two years after ownership the card died on me after warranty expired. After sending in my card EVGA gave me a brand new 1060 6gb card when they could have just simply said it was on me. To this day I have only purchased from EVGA, they will be forever missed in the GPU landscape.
It doesn't really take a genius to realise that customer retention is more valuable than replacing one graphics card. Shame they are gone.
Lol y’all act like Nvidia the only gpu manufacturer. Evga will still make partner cards with AMD and in the future intel as well I’m sure.
First Card 960? I get old 🙈
I have a similar story with my GPU as well. back in the day I had a triple SLI 780 setup, one of the cards died and EVGA helped out and got me a brand new GTX 970 since they didn't have any 780 laying around. The 970 Is still working hard for me and the other two 780 still work. Overall amazing customer service, I am planning on buying more of there products in the future
EVGA has been one of if not the MOST trustworthy company to do business with for the last few years. They implemented their own queue system so that we could get hardware at a fair price and without bundling unnecessary hardware that had a propensity to catch fire unlike some other businesses. When New World was killing cards, they didn't hesitate to warranty out those cards for the customers. When given a choice, I always try to get parts I need either directly from EVGA or a dealer. I really hope they stick around, hell I'd even switch to AMD to graphics if they started making them. At a minimum, I hope this move by EVGA makes other AIB partners push back against Nvidia and how they do business with their "partners."
I 100 % agree
Agreed - this is terrible news. They are the only brand of graphics cards I’ve been using for the last 12 years in all my builds. Excellent build quality and support, and during the 3080 mess the only company that had a fair system to buy their cards at MSRP. This totally sucks
@@jjbbryan8795 A sad life is you reading through comments simply to berate someone for their preferences.
I think that the underlying fact that this highlights is that Nvidia doesn't *want* to work with AIB partners anymore. They want to vertically integrate and replace them.
@@hellraserfleshlight Simple,
don't buy nVidia cards.
Nvidia is seeing what its limits are by experimenting with their partners. They want to know how far they can go and draw a line to operate on that line to maximize their profits. 3080 ftw was my dream gpu following closely by rog strix. Thats how nice EVGA was, sad to see they wont be making new ones anymore.
Thanks for the great video. Very informative!
EVGA is a company that I WANT to buy from. They're always at the top of my list.
Same. Honestly for me one of the downsides of Radeon was not having EVGA.
Facts always been
@@Interrobang212 agreed. Had the same problem with mobo going Ryzen
I think this will end up in the quality of cards coming from other companies besides EVGA crashing drastically over the years. EVGA was the first sort of brand to add metal backplates with heat pads. All other brands added plastic backplates with no heat pads during the 10 series shebang. EVGA was the innovator of the card market, and without them most companies wont have to compete with the lack of innovation / quality not coming from EVGA anymore.
With all the competition, we are going to see an uptick in quality on all aspects. Perhaps EVGA is going to start working for intel. I dunno, but very possible. Probably the generation after this next one will be a crazy upgrade. That is if intel gains their stride and makes high end cards. I hope they don't steal the budget market, giving AMD and Nvidia unlimited headroom regarding pricing. I would be so disappointed lol
@@flexplodin Other videos are clearer on it, but EVGA's already decided it won't go to AMD or Intel and is ditching the GPU business entirely.
@@angrymokyuu9475 Crazy. The scalping really hurt these guys now that the market is flooded with cheap used cards. Thanks for the info!
Funny you mention backplates because my EVGA 3080 XC3 has a flimsy plastic backplate and the VRAM temps are bad.
Asus will maintain good quality
The real interesting fact here is that manufacturing cost of metal/plastic/silicon/transistors is roughly the same as it was 10 years ago - The current pricing is based on a purely intellectual property basis and has no grounds in practical reality.
I've bought 4 EVGA cards over the years (including my current 3070) and it is really sad that they won't be around. I've never had a single issue with any of their cards (going back almost 20 years now), but always bought because of their good price, excellent cooling, and word-of-mouth that they actually stand by their warranties. Unfortunately, Nvidia knows that gamers seem to be willing to pay whatever to play games and upgrade even when they don't NEED to (impulse buying), so this just means more leverage for them.
I am heart broken. I've been an EVGA customer for over 10 years. Long ago, I had a failure with an EVGA card. I called tech support and spoke to a gentleman based in the U.S. He was incredibly helpful. I can't say enough good things about EVGA's customer support. They (were) the only brand I buy. Hope to see them start a new line with AMD or Intel. I would be converted.
This is what we're losing here, Grade A* customer support
I agree. I would almost straight but an EVGA 7800XT.
Good on them for sticking to their principles ... Lets hope AMD smash the next gen GPU and EVGA get on board.
Steve did an interview with Evga's ceo as well and he said they are canceling the video card manufacturing as a whole. So sadly no AMD gpus.
@@w04h 0o oh no I thinking the same as scott.
get on board... pun intended...
@@w04h REALLY? Not even AMD? Sound like they're more in financial trouble tbh can't see AMD doing much wrong here.

Thanks for the great content Jay! Just watched Gamers Nexus's take on the news and lets just say, I'm really happy you are here to cover topics like this. This is sad news for sure and I'm surprised there is not more of this happening to be honest. Keep up the great content brother!
I’ve always been a Zotac guy for no particular reason but my Z68 FTW is still going strong. It’s outlasted every internal part of it’s build.
out of the 4 graphics cards I have bought, 3 of them were EVGA and I have been absolutely pleased with every one of them. They were just what I wanted and needed. No frills, but also no extra crap that I don't need. If EVGA ends up making AMD cards, there is a good chance I might finally try out AMD. I'm not totally brand loyal, but every EVGA product I have bought has never let me down.
Same, especially if AMD continues to improve their driver game or is more power efficient than nvidia.
@@DeilGrist To be honest i like the AMD drivers much more.
And i had them all. And every GPU supplier has bad Drivers. Except Matrox. Those are perfect.
Facts, evga is legit one of the better brands of cards, matter of fact anything they put their name on.
I might actually/finally give AMD cards a chance if EVGA legit goes to them and AMD lets them mess with their cards as much as they want too.
I don't understand why NVIDIA thought it was a good idea not for their GPU guys to make the cards better.
@@edenjung9816 Amd drivers run poorly on older games. Nvidia is overall more stable.
In my personal opinion, this is AMD's golden opportunity to really start competing. Treat AIBs better, even potentially get EVGA to sign on and start making their cards. It won't be overnight, but their time is coming.
AMD already had its chance and ruined it. Their own type of dlss is not that great which is the reason, why nvidia still has a virtual benefit of 50% more performance with almost no quality loss.
AMD also increases prices and their cards run hot and considering toms hardware benchmarks the energy consumption of amd gpus is still much higher.
Amd's quality is also just way to bad. Every amd gpu i had in the past just burned after one year. They were all loud, hot and died. My nvidia cards all ran for several years no prob.
Honestly, i don't trust amd anymore. I wish they could compete, but at the moment i don't want to buy any gpu. Neither from nvidia, nor from amd.
With amd i have to buy a new card after 1-2 years because it will break and with nvidia i pay double the price.
In a way they are still equal, even if amd's prices would be half the price of nvidia. That is the reason, why they cannot compete.
They need a better Ai upscaler, less energy consumption, less heat, less noise and their cards must have a longer lifetime. But this won't happen i guess.
Marketing says their new architecture design would be better than nvidia but i think this is just sht talk. There is no evidence, that their architecture is really better.
It is just different and it is said to be more scalable. But i doubt nvidias chip design is not scalable. If amds design would be so much better, then why are their cards not performing better?
Another issue is the raytracing api. For whatever reason nvidias raytracing performs MUCH better than amd's raytracer. I don't know why, i guess they are both just using the directx raytracing but maybe the graphics cards of nvidia translates the api better internally.
I could imagine amd has a good chance on the low to mid price market. But if rtx4080 will be available and not too expensive, they won't stand a chance next year.

It's dissappointing news as I lean towards EVGA in making most purchases. Maybe this push will affect NVIDIA enough to make them turn around and do right by AIBs and customers.
Huge loss for Nvidia and much deserved. The best news I’ve heard all day. EVGA in my experience, has ALWAYS been quality for me and if I’ve ever had issues, the customer support and RMA process has been seamless.
It is good news but what about us who are in a long warranty period? A little worried about that and (how many) they truly have for rma requests..

I had my first 1080 blow up on me a few years ago, and they got me a new one no problems (even though part of the fault was my own).
They will be missed.
it's also a huge loss for EVGA too... Nvidia GPUs make up about 80% of EVGAs sales/profits. If they dont partner with AMD/Intel to make up the money lost, they're definitely gonna have to lay off a majority of their staff
@@rawkusrex revenue not profit.
If someone sells apples and oranges for a dollar each, and sells 80 apples and 20 oranges for a hundred bucks, 80% revenue is going to be apples. But if the cost for selling apples is like 95cents and oranges is like 50 cents, you are looking at 4 dollar profits from apples, 10 dollars profits from oranges.
Profit margins for gpus are a lot lower than other part of the business to the point where even though it is 80% of their revenue, it's definitely not 70-80% of their profits, especially considering from gamer's nexus' video on their profit margin, he quotes the profit margins of power supplies as multiples of gpu's

But there lies the Problem. EVGA Cards had Problems in several Generations. RMA and even Supportpackages like those Thermalpads cost Money.
@@gucky4717 Well, if you don't know shit until release day, and only learn the edge-problems after it's in consumer hands.. (which are most of the times not even their fault..) that's indeed a problem. EVGA has done nothing other than trying to fix the shit that they're being thrown into; and have generations of good-will & quality products+support to speak for that.
I really wish it didn't have to go this way, but choices have to be made; and the ROI of this stress isn't worth it imho either.
@@Xewl Others don't know shit either, but they didn't have such problems. EVGA is great for their customer support and their step up plans, but outside of USA, customer support isn't an issue since you don't deal with the manufacturer you deal with the shop, and warranty laws are strict. That being said, maybe I'm lucky, but I've been through about 20 GPUs in my life, and aside of one, they all worked flawlessly until I replaced them, but I've been dealing with dead motherboards a lot, and I just return them to the shop, tell them the problem, and I get a new board instantly or money back if the board is no longer manufactured/ or currently unavailable, or they offer me a similarly priced board. Not once did the shop I buy from; Local shops, Amazon, Yodobashi, Saturn, complicate my warranty. If the shop does no want to honor the warranty, they can get into a lot of trouble in most places, to a point where they could even get shut down over a $800 graphics card.

This has further soiled my impression of nvidia. They've been making moves like Facebook. I remember when they did the founders cards and folks discussed the conflict of interest. They blamed their partners for leaks when they've had plenty of internal leaks. I see this pushing folks to AMD/Radeon and even Intel cards. I feel it.
@@RJMStraya why would it?
All you need is Jensen's statement about partners, it says it all. Right after defending why they dont give out information to them, and saying how they like and want everything internalized. Jensen - "Why are these guys (board partners), making money when theyre not doing much? NVIDIA's problem is it doesnt control the supply chain like Apple does". They have a direction, and theyre heading toward that path full steam ahead.
No, not really.
Exactly. Jensen doesn’t see the work they do in designing/manufacturing boards, sourcing parts/materials, or in dealing with customers. They used to be allowed to innovate more but Nvidia and nvidia alone stopped that.
@@RJMStraya Why would it be EVGA's fault when Nvidia has a reputation of being hard to work with.
There's so much that Nvidia has done to destroy their partner relations. T2 partners got the absolute shaft in the past with so much deadstock required for allocations that XFX jumped shipped. The situation could have only worsened with Nvidia taking over reference sales. If a T1 partner like EVGA is jumping ship it just looks like the 3000/4000 series overproduction is massive.
Not just overproduction, it sounds like other board Partners May jump ship too. It sounds like a lot of board partners are getting absolutely burned so hard on the 30 series they decided that the 40 series isn't worth the gamble because in video won't tell them the price prior to lunch, why would you take a gamble on something you don't know the price of. Especially an Electronics luxury good like a graphics card. I believe when the control freaks at Nvidia started taking over, that is when XFX exited Nvidia space.
This happened with 20 series too. Nvidia just allows its partners to lose tons of money towards the end of the generation.
The EVGA 2080 SUPER Hybrid still working like a charm, bought it for 550€ back in the day
I too have been a customer of theirs for nearly 20 years. I honestly don't know what to do now when I build my next computer.
If I was another AIB partner, this would have me second guessing my relationship with Nvidia, if they could allow this to happen with EVGA.
the shit thing is that even if any company would have to choose to stay or leave Nvidia, in the end, Nvidia wins heavily. Because well now they can charge a crap tun more without any competition. dick move but business is business!
This is heart breaking. EVGA made some of the best cards out there and if you did have an issue, their customer support was the best.
I remember a few years back, my EVGA 980 got fried so I sent it in for replacement. They sent me a brand new 980Ti at no cost, it was awesome
EVGA has been my first brand that i bought a card for a 970 helped me game on my pc when i first built it I have since then stayed loyal to them. Superior customer service and support they did what was right for the shortages to help get cards out. Im happy to continue supporting them
My last 3 GPUs were EVGA, and their support was/is amazing. Their queue system was the only reason I was able to get a 30 series card during the peak of shortage, at msrp. Today is a sad day
Glad the queue worked for you. It worked for me..eventually after the shortage ended. But I still respected their efforts and the fact they sold cards for MSRP while others were taking you to the bank.
I applaud a company that’s willing to stand by its principles, employees, and customers especially when it comes with risk. Optimistic that they will eventually create new partnerships and continue to create reliable cards with all the features we love.. Fingers crossed
ethereum went proof of stake yesterday... gpu prices crashing by the second. But they wont make anyone else's cards and only talk about not doing 40 series?? no, this is a corporation protecting it's bottom dollar during a crash by laying off (or forcing them to quit) over 50% of their workforce while they RIDE OUT THE CRASH... how in the hell does no one else see this and why is everyone kissing EVGA's ass rn?? I have ONLY owned EVGA cards and own a 3090 ftw3, but I see this for what it is... a corporation being VERY sleazy. They were being undercut hard by Nvidia and were saying they were taking losses if there taking losses then there losing money fast wich means they STILL have to make lay offs.
Either way people get fired when a product they have makes less a d less money cause ur partner keeps taking more and more of ur slice of the pie in that product. Eventually there's just no money in it anymore. It's a huge L no matter u stay with Nvidia or u decide to leave.
How have they stood with their customers? They were one of the first AIBs to hike their prices up because they saw demand outstrip supply. They fully took part in the price gouging of the last couple of years and profited heavily off of it. They're now complaining that they're feeling the aftereffects of the market correcting itself back to sane levels again. They rode the hype train and overpromised investors thinking that 2x+ MSRP was going to last a lot longer than it did and then the crypto mining bubble busted and inventory quadrupled nearly overnight tanking GPU prices. They were even able to complain to Nvidia to slow down release of new stock to help artificially keep prices higher than they should which in the end, is to help the AIBs and not Nvidia. Nvidia makes a set amount per unit and it's actually in their best interest to flood the market because of their per-unit price based on whatever contract they hold with their customer. Nvidia as a component supplier makes their profits by volume.
While I'm not a fan of Nvidia or AMD, it doesn't mean I'm naive to think some other multi-billion-dollar corporation isn't mystically out to not enrich itself as well. All of the AIBs jumped on the price gouging hype train to record profits and are now taking a beating because the orders they put in during the shortage in light of the overpriced units has come in and is driving prices down due to a glut in new supply relative to what supplies were 2 years ago. They were even able to get their key supplier, Nvidia, to control and limit shipping to all other companies in order to keep prices somewhat up purely to their own benefit. People a week or two ago got pissed and Nvidia for saying that they were doing this instead of getting mad at the AIBs who all pushed Nvidia to do it to save their own asses. The AIBs can't just stop cold turkey to kill off supply because they'll just lose sales to another AIB who will refuse and will sell at a loss just to move stagnant inventory. Thus, they begged Nvidia to slow sales overall which forces all AIBs to lower production and so none of the others gets an advantage.
I feel your pain Jay it really makes me sad cause EVGA was always my go to for when I upgraded my graphic card and now I am like you what you said about being a regular fan boy of regular graphic and another thing I was just actually thinking about getting one of there last production cards like the 3080ti, nonetheless it’s totally sad and mind boggling…
Still rocking the EVGA 970 ssc to this day. That's how good that card has been.
That's some MAJOR news, I'm shocked. It really saddens me to hear that, every since I started building PCs some 16 years ago EVGA has always been my go-to brand for graphics cards. Not only were they great, but here in Brazil, they're also substantially cheaper than other AIBs for some reason. It's a shame, less competition is always a bad thing
My guess about why it's cheaper would be that other brands are pricing their GPUs at higher then MSRP prices, while EVGA stayed true to MSRP

EVGA was probably the one company that was synonymous with NVidia GPUs. About the same when you mention Sapphire, you think of AMD (or even ATI back in the days). EVGA has officially stated that they will not pursue a partnership with AMD or Intel regarding GPU'S. Of course, that can change overnight.
Seeing as EVGA knew in April they were leaving the Nvidea partnership, I would think they would have reached out to AMD by now to start partnering. I think they are done with gpu's.
AMD already has Sapphire though. I think it would be more wise for EVGA to partner with Intel.

As most people, my very first impressions on a company or a product is what I can see with my eyes. At that time, there were sooo many companies that just sounded like generic, goofy off-shoots that sometimes I almost questioned if what I was purchasing was counterfeit (from a retail store, mind you) or would just fail within a few weeks.
EVGA stood out from all of that. They seemed like they knew what they were doing, and were delivering quality stuff. Any time I can buy EVGA, I do. I've owned their PSUs, graphic cards, Mobos, AIOs and some other stuff and I've never been disappointed.

@Zippy Dastrange the issue I see is I'd venture alot of the reason their psu's sells are ok is because of the people already their for gpus. their mobo sales and others dont account for much
Difference is beginning of Lamborghini actually was in a way simpler era and the fact he had the manufacturing capabilities to build said cars and connections to get them build. VS GPUs that cost literally 100 millions of dollars just for r&d and ofc let alone way more for manufacturing.
