My character is named Meer Stillezee (which is just dutch for Lake Silent-sea) and he's a Namarti. My idea for him was basically, a wise zookeeper. I focused him mostly on social skills and abilities that help him tame and care for animals and, because Namarti are blind, I gave him Witch Sight and Nightvision so he can look into the souls of animals and people and see what they need. He has a Deepmare, it's a baby don't worry, which he found wounded and starving and so he fed it his hand which I replaced with a whip (which is basically his only weapon and he mainly uses as a tool for starting fires and as a role anyway). Me and my SM, Soulmaster as we have gotten to calling Gm's for Soulbound, have basically ruled that Namarti can become Soulbound but that it's extra risky and increases the risk of dying for everyone in the binding during the ritual as they have to compensate and basically "plug the hole" in the cup of the Namarti's soul basically. I really like playing him
Hot damn they keep knocking it out of the park with Idoneth. I love the flavor that comes with everything they have, from the spells and miracles to their special equipment, while still allowing for a lot of fluff friendly customization room for characters
Thanks for this! Much love for the Idoneth, their lore is awesome, full of tragic events but there’s hope. The novel ‘The Court of the Blind King’ is great to see how they function. Would be one of these chaps I think for Soulbound ✌️
It's unfortunate that "The Court of the Blind King" butchered the Idoneth lore. As Idoneth don't have things like families or inheritance, and the Enclave it is set in is actually supposed to be one of the largest and has no trouble raiding.
@@adambielen8996 true but does give you insight of how they move on land and fight. Also their relationship with Namarti. Families is a lose term as we know. Also when we get the long overdue battletome book who knows, they may take aspects from the book as it came out after 😄
I think if someone wanted to play as a Namarti, you could play as a generic elf and just say you're Idoneth. Like the Trader or the Corsair, it'd also be easy enough to swap the Corsair cloak for the underwater one since they're both priceless items. Its also kind of cool for RP since even if you have a soul you might have soulless parents or siblings or kids.
I'm down for it! And remember, not every player HAS to be soulbound. The rules very clearly leave room for non-soulbound characters to travel with a binding :)
Thanks for explaining this AoS faction. This is a really cool concept: sea elves which leak out souls. The need for more “soul food” is a perfect excuse to clash with other AoS armies on the table top!
Very informative! Deepkins are the most difficult to imagine when starting out. All of my players were really intimidated by the concept. This video should make it much easier to get into the flow...
I'm loving the video series - I just bought the rulebook and will be running a game shortly. The last fantasy Warhammer RPG game I played was 20+ years ago. I'm excited to begin and your lore videos are great.
@@2Tough Yup. My friends are not that big fans of Warhammer, my city doesn't have good and afordable choice of minis to buy and, even if I get them and paint them - they will just stuck on the shelf somewhere in my lair, because there is nowhere/no one to play with.
would you ever be interested in covering warcry/warbands? seems like it would be a good fit for the channel esp if you could go through the value or the dif warband get started sets etc, anyway keep up the good work. edit: oh i see youve got some videos, I'm checking them out now! i normally just look at the lore and the get started boxes!
this is why i love AOS sea elves and sky dwarves new takes on traditional fantasy races. with fully supported lore that is brought upon struggle and strife. this enables the fantasy to be turned up to an 11.
One of the most interesting aspects of Idoneth society is that despite being born to the "noble" class, by sole virtue of having a fully functioning soul, the Akhelians and Isharann are bound to servitude in either gathering enough souls to keep their people and society alive or finding a better solution to this massive problem that plagues their race. So despite what it might appear on the surface the Nemarti are actually the part of the population with the most freedom in how they live their life.
I picked the Idoenth for warcry and underworlds and i think ill take the, for this game They are a really interestimg faction and i like the twist of the elves being under the sea
Are you two talking about the Shadows in the Mist releases? That's what I was referring to as the adventure set, I respect that there's a lot more info in there than just the adventure but I guess I consider those add-ons (Blood-tide, Rotten to the Core and the newest one Crucible of Life) adventures first. Though thinking about it I did mentally skip over the Brightspear and Anvilguard city guides as well. Really, I should have been clearer that I meant Realm and Alliance supplements
one of my favorite AOS factions Question: what enemies are their besides the generic chaos and skelly bois, are their presets for destruction factions (Orks, gobbos, Ogors)
yes! in addition to the more gneric chaos warriors, there is a collection of special units from each choas god (Kairic acolyets, Blood warriors etc.), A section on greenskins (from all the different factions) and even a Maw Krusha! Not to mention skaven and so on.
I think Nemarti (or however you spell it) can't become Soulbound because they don't have access to the Arthersea magic they need to survive on the surface. For the other archetypes, they have the status and the influence to order an Aethersea amulet/cloak made for them or they have the ability to cast the magic themselves. No way would an enclave spend that kind of effort or resources on a single Nemarti thrall. Or its just for meta reasons, but I like my explanation better.
I'd think it is more for their soul being stolen. Because the Idoneth are desperate to fix their soul problem, so I have no doubt that they have already tried to make Nemarti Soulbound to see if it fixes the issue. So from their perspective making some Aethersea cloaks to see if this is a viable solution to their problem would absolutely be worth it. But that's just my take on it.
@@adambielen8996 I just don't see how their soul being stolen matters. Its still an intact soul that isn't bound to a god like the Stormcast are. Its just not an elf soul so they don't get the benefits of a centuries long life span. But that shouldn't matter for a binding.
@@H240909 the Namarti "soul" will drain away and have to be replenished. They are often not whole souls, but patchwork affairs. This also leads to the fact that Nemarti rarely live over 40 no matter the origin of their soul infusions.
@@adambielen8996 But wouldn’t a binding fix that problem? Make them stop “leaking” or whatever? I mean it stops ordinary people from aging. So I don’t se how that’s much different. Like I said, it’s probably just meta reasons.
@@H240909 Well there is a big difference between ordinary people growing biologically older and Namarti being completely incapable of retaining a soul within their bodies. The process of being Soulbound is so traumatic and painful that people with normal souls often die during the process, so the chances of a Namarit's patchwork/stolen soul surviving seems exceedingly unlikely. And the fact that Stormcasts can't be Soulbound due to the fact that their souls are already altered and bound, I'd say that Namarti souls would qualify for similar problems.
fair, the idea behind Soulbound is that you are already a powerful hero thats been selected for this role. So it makes sense that these are all hyper-badass folks lol. I priomise, the moment you crack into some of the boss level characters, the scales even out REAL fast haha. The Great unclean One can wreck a party very, very easily
@@2Tough Yeah that makes sense- I always seem to gravitate towards the underdog when it comes to this sort of thing so look at what I know of soulbound through that lens.
By far the worst race ever created, aether sea is the worst mcguven in fantasy history, you can't just use the term magic everytime some one trys to question the obserdity of AOS.
These guys are my favourite faction from any IP. I absolutely love them
Awesome!!! I love the vibrant colors, there's just something immediately appealing about them

So the question i think we are all wondering is.... war turtle stats for soulbound when cause they are adorable
I gonna make Prophecy, Italian Emissary:"They gonna combine FB+AoS into OLD WORLD"

I can't wait for Cubical 7 to wrap up this first adventure set and get cracking on some supplements!
They already have. They released 2 books for Anvilgard with a third on its way.

Here’s another explanation:
Watch the Aquaman movie and take note of the undersea forces.
Would a necromancer be able to become soulbound? From the little I understand, it sounds like something they would take advantage of.
A fair question! Well you can have a mage that focuses on death magic, but I dont see anythin (yet) about a full blown necromancer
Now the question what is a soul?
Was there a soulbound discord
There's an official one run by cubicle seven, i think it's linked on their website
Here you go! discord.gg/hPvyVqGsCz
Not much of a RP'r but these archetypes seem a bit over powered to just be walking about with some randoms.
