👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼 Here is a link to a questionnaire to uncover your schemas:
    psychology-training.com.au/wp....
We all have schemas, or ways that we have learned to see ourselves and others in the world. There are 18 recognized themes in Schema therapy. Although most people are unaware of their own, they can sometimes see the schemas in others. Schemas are very similar to biases.
These themes develop early in life, and usually for good reasons and they may have made sense at the time they were developed.
But they can be limiting and restrictive and keep people stuck in self-defeating patterns if they don’t recognize their schemas and learn to unhook from them.
Identifying our own schemas allows us to call ourselves out, “oh there I go again with my, I can’t depend on anyone schema, or my no one cares schema”.
Just the simple act of calling ourselves out unhooks us from the negative thoughts, feelings, memories and urges that are linked to that theme. We see it as a theme versus a fact or a truth.
Then we can allow ourselves the opportunity to be flexible and try to look at situations from a different perspective, and this is how we can mature and grow.
Russ Harris, an ACT therapist and author, borrowed from Schema therapy and renamed 12 of the 18 schemas that I list in this video.

Yes. Unrealistic expectations. Highest of standards. Fear the unknown vs embracing. Comparison to others leading to feelings of not measuring up

Thank you Ms. Pradko for these wonderful insights. Recently I've been following your tips and tricks and it has helping me more than medications my pscyh gives me. I'm acutely aware of these core beliefs or schemes in my thinking most of the times, but I get absorbed into them and keep contemplating about them which brings me sadness and anxiety. Level 1 is identifying the problem, but what to do once I've identified that these are my negative core beliefs which are holding me back? Kindly help. Thanks. :)

Yes, identifying them is step one. Step two is to look at things from a different perspective. How would I react to this situation if I did not have this schema. How would someone else respond or react? Taking the time to look at situations from different perspectives can help us to intentionally choose our behaviors versus responding reactively based on out schemas.

Amazing video! So you look the schemas through an act perspective and defuse from them or through a CBT perspective and dispute them?

Yes. You must be a therapist. I nudge the awareness through curiosity , and that alone seems to inspire more self examination, reflection, and perspective change. 😊

Hello your videos have been a great help to me! I have a question about OCD. I know intrusive thoughts can give unwanted distressing images and thoughts but how about unwanted urges?
Can it create intrusive urges/feelings? They feel so real and are so distressing. One example I can think of is like an urge to punch my sister. It’s not persistent but it happens once I’m a blue moon out or no where. It makes me feel so bad. I know I won’t do it because I am not a violent person and it doesn’t align with my values. But when it happens it makes me feel so bad and distressed:/
If urges to fall under ocd could you please cover it!

Yes, OCD not only includes intrusive thoughts, but urges, emotions, sensations and images as well. I am sorry you experience that urge. Remind yourself it is OCD when it occurs and that it is always the opposite of who you are and what you would ever do.

I haven’t made a video on that particular aspect of OCD, but I am now adding “OCD, Urges & Emotions” to my list. 😊
