I've been using greenwood recently, I think it's quite an underratted fire lighting method. The term fight fire with fire can apply here in a sense that you can fight moisture with moisture, heavy rain for days, just use greenwood, if you have a shelter and dry it you could potentially get a fire going that may just save your life, if all other tinders are wet and take more time to dry. Of course you would need maybe an airflow to dry it. Great video, good to know that hazel may be the best, thanks very much, cheers.

How long did it take you to dry out the tinder like that? I tried this today and waited awhile, and it wouldn't burn at all. Maybe I didn't wait long enough?
I think I waited about 20 mins but it would depend on the weather. I think it was a fairly dry day, on a more humid day would probably take a bit longer
The 36th chapter of the Holy Quran talks about this! 36:80 ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ ٱلْأَخْضَرِ نَارًا فَإِذَآ أَنتُم مِّنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ ˹He is the One˺ Who gives you fire from green trees, and-behold!-you kindle ˹fire˺ from them. ---------------------- Chapter 'Yaseen' verse 72 till end ----------------------------- 36:72 وَذَلَّلْنَـٰهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ And We have subjected these ˹animals˺ to them, so they may ride some and eat others. 36:73 وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ And they derive from them other benefits and drinks. Will they not then give thanks? 36:74 وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً لَّعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ Still they have taken other gods besides Allah, hoping to be helped ˹by them˺. 36:75 لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُندٌ مُّحْضَرُونَ They cannot help the pagans, even though they serve the idols as dedicated guards. 36:76 فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ So do not let their words grieve you ˹O Prophet˺. Indeed, We ˹fully˺ know what they conceal and what they reveal. 36:77 أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ Do people not see that We have created them from a sperm-drop, then-behold!-they openly challenge ˹Us˺? 36:78 وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِىَ خَلْقَهُۥ ۖ قَالَ مَن يُحْىِ ٱلْعِظَـٰمَ وَهِىَ رَمِيمٌ And they argue with Us-forgetting they were created-saying, “Who will give life to decayed bones?” 36:79 قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَهَآ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “They will be revived by the One Who produced them the first time, for He has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of every created being. 36:80 ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ ٱلْأَخْضَرِ نَارًا فَإِذَآ أَنتُم مِّنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ ˹He is the One˺ Who gives you fire from green trees, and-behold!-you kindle ˹fire˺ from them. 36:81 أَوَلَيْسَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم ۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ ٱلْخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ Can the One Who created the heavens and the earth not ˹easily˺ resurrect these ˹deniers˺?” Yes ˹He can˺!
