    As much as we of that generation did not want to see 'The Beatles' as a group, die. We all knew it was inevitable, it had to be. The guys were on different paths, they weren't the same people they were ten years before and their fans knew it. Sadly, the world did not get to see where John and George's lives would take them after they broke up. Paul went onward, Ringo went onward to do what they wanted. All I can say is that those of us (I am 75) who grew with them were fortunate to have been there since the beginning. We loved them then and still to this day love them.

      @John Z I was 13 when the Beatles came to America! My whole life changed! I loved being 'born at the right time' and watched these young men grow up right before my eyes. Their music was so different than anything I had ever heard and it just got better and better with each passing year. I loved Paul. I admired George. Thought Ringo was funny. Thought John was fucked up. Turns out he was. I liked his lyrics and wit. Thought Paul was a musical genius; turned out he is. Touring at 80....WOW!!
      George led me down spiritual paths which actually brought my heart back to Jesus. I still thought Ringo was funny and the best drummer for this wonderful band. It was a great era to be alive!! LONG LIVE THE BEATLES!!!!!!l

      @John Z, was 5 when Feb.9th came. Bedtime😂, older brother had huge lightbulb moment. Changed him😁. Christmas, days when it was fun to shop downtown and see the window displays, had a Children’s shop where you could buy presents for family, secretly🥰. My Grandfather said “let’s go to the record dept”, huh? Ok..Jeff left with Beatles ‘65 and I got my first single, “I Feel Fine”, “She’s a woman”. Still have it. Serious collector so Sonic cleaned it. Still amazing❤️🥹❤️🥹❤️

      "Sadly, the world did not get to see where John and George's lives would take them after they broke up." What? That's not true. John lived for 10 years after the Beatles broke up, and George lived for 31 years. So, we did get to see where their lives took them after they broke up.

      You're right, their breaking up was inevitable, for a lot of reasons. For an obsessed fan like me, that was painful. But being the Beatles, it was perfect--they went out on top, with Abbey Road as a smashing climax, and left us wanting more. 50-plus years later, we're still talking about it. Looking back, I'm glad they never got back together as a foursome. I think it would have only tarnished their legacy, in my opinion. It was damn-near perfect as it was.

      Yeah we really did love them didn't we, when they split I was heartbroken I wasn't a happy kid but they gave me something to look forward to, their next single or album.. After they broke up their subsequent solo albums gave us some of the magic especially All Things Must Pass.

      Lol, friend.. these “nice recordings” were all from the Anthology docuseries.. watch that and you’ll hear every line from this video.. this brushes over everything because this story takes more than 20 mins to tell.. but literally this person didn’t compile anything. Seriously, he just clipped up the documentary from 94 I think lol.. was a good laugh

    This docu was put together better than any Beatles - or any band documentary I've ever seen.
    The time to go through all audio material and make them tell the story must have taken a lot of time. Thank you for this work.
    This must be the #1 go-to docu for anyone wanting to get familiar with the band's story.

    • @eldiablo8580
      @eldiablo8580 Рік тому +1

      Uh, no. The #1 go-to doco for anyone wanting to get familiar with The Beatles story is still the Anthology DVD set- almost 9 hours of archival video and audio plus contemporary (1994/5) interviews with the then 3 surviving Beatles, which is where 99% of everything you've seen here originated from. That team were the ones who worked their asses off getting every piece of film and audio together and tied it all together and made it run into a comprehensible story. These guys just edited it down to like 40 minutes and added captions of synopsis explaining the historical context, and they never even fixed the typo at the beginning of part 2. Group is spelled like this, not GRUOP

    • @veevintage2619
      @veevintage2619 Рік тому +2

      99% of this was taken from the Anthology. As amazing as it is to watch it’s basically plagiarized 😂 so no, this isn’t “better” than anything the band has ever put together, it IS the material the band put together 😅

    At age 74 I still enjoy having gone through the experience of the Beatles. I really came to appreciate all that they did and I was already a guitar player and played piano too. I really came to appreciate George the most and for personal reasons (I reached out to him and wasn't disappointed) but his attitude and spirit are why I am still alive and playing. He explained what I was feeling but didn't know how to express. When I need a lift, I play with his songs or just listen. There's a deep spiritual feeling that affects me and I always feel much better after a "session with George". What a great time to live. I didn't have a good home life and did the drug thing but George got me to understand that substances brought you down rather than lift you up and the "high" was a clear head and enjoyment of what good music brought and still brings. Thanks for the experience lads.

    Between yesterday and today I watched both parts, and let me say; you sir/mam deserve a round of applause. The format of putting together interviews to have _them_ tell the story is brilliant and flawlessly executed. It must've been a hell of a lot of work to go through so many interviews, find the subjects you wanted to include in the video, find footage that went with it, and put it at all together.

The world a much better place because of their music.

    I was in several top notch regional rock bands throughout the 70s with each better than the one before. Problem was the better the musicians, the more difficult it was to deal with the 5 egos, and living on the road for weeks at a time made it that much tougher. The most frustrating thing of all was the last band I was in was together for 4 years with a growing following, radio airplay and strong original material. The week after our manager announced to us that we were going to go on tour and open for The Eagles, our front man, guitarist, contributing songwriter announced he was leaving the band...and that was it! Four years of blood, sweat and tears, down the drain.

    It was all just a lot of fun, especially if you were born in 1960. The whole time they were together and working and creating all of this great music dovetailed perfectly with my childhood and provided a soundtrack that is part of my DNA. George Harrison is the reason I play guitar. Before they played on Sullivan, a guitar was just a sound, and at age 4, I had no idea what sort of thing was making that sound. Then when I actually watched him play the lead break on "I saw her standing there", the connection clicked and I understood where that sound was coming from, and I knew I had to get in on it, one way or another.
    It was all just a whole lot of fun.

    That was a very great two part documentary. ThX for sharing.
    From the moment Yoko was constantly there as a fifth wheel on the cart, the others should have brought their partners along as well. So that John and Yoko could experience how ridiculous it really was. You are not going to burden a band that is in crisis for various reasons with the constant presence of a fifth person who has nothing to do with the creative process. That John and Yoko had agreed with each other that they weren't hiding anything from each other, there was their private business. Why bother the rest of the band with it? Do you find it strange that it became increasingly uncomfortable and awkward.

    Apart from the misspelling of "group" as "gorup", and the title, which should be "In their own words", this is fantastic !

    George, re The White Album:
    "Well, you know, there was a lot of ego in that band..."
    Paul, re The White Album:
    "I'm not a great one for that. Look. It's the bloody Beatles White Album. Shut up."
    ...Paul always takes credit for the zebra crossing/Abbey Road idea.
    Really it was Ringo's

    There seems to be a lot of people watching this 2 part video and leaving comments here who have never even seen or heard of the Beatles' own officially licenced history lesson, the Anthology DVD box set, which tells their story IN THEIR OWN WORDS, which is where everything you see here originates from. This is like a Tic Tok version of that set of videos.

    I agree, select the best songs of the White Album and put them on just one record and you will have a good album.
    To me it never sounded like a band album.

      The White Album is great the way it is. I wouldn't change anything about it. Even songs like 'Wild Honey pie' and 'Why don't we do it in the road' are perfect for the record.

      What are the best songs? And it still would sound nothing like a band album. Then? It's creativity was a double album getting the songs out, it's individual tracks,it's different to the other albums, some say the best. That's cos all the different tracks🎸🎶

    John unilaterally made Yoko the "5th Beatle". There were actually many people who could be considered the 5th Beatle, so maybe she should be called "a" 5th Beatle, or "another" 5th Beatle. Or maybe that list could rank them instead, and then number each as 5th, 6th, 7th, etc. But that whole concept becomes a much bigger debate in creating the order of importance, or chronology according to who "joined the band" unofficially by date. That's all just too cumbersome or something. But I guess John felt entitled to do that. And maybe John truly needed her presence 24/7, emotionally.
    I have never seen or heard Yoko mentioned as a 5th Beatle, but I definitely believe she was one, and the only one who never should have been one. And, I also believe the other three band members would agree with that, if they were being honest.
