      There are so many personal training videos where the author pretty much declares that he\she is the Einstein of personal trainers. This is why I skip those that state or insinuate that "you're doing it wrong". But I suppose this serves the needs of people who want to obtain something (advice) without cost. All of these UA-cam trainers (many without certifications of any sort) are simply interested in one thing: Viewers to grow their channel where income starts to flow in from the UA-cam advertisers.

    HI!! Possible question of the week: In your opinion, what would be the best leg exercices that would minimize strain on the lower back? I recently hurt my back during a gym session and I would like to continue training without putting to much pressure on my back. (sorry for the bad english, I'm french Canadian from Quebec !)
    Thank you in advance! Btw I really enjoy your content :)

      I’m not Harry but I have a back injury, I find machines a lot better, so leg press, seated curl etc - when it comes to free weights you have to brace and if you don’t do it properly it puts a lot of strain on your back, I found it super painful at first to do RDLs, barbell back squats and back extensions for the glutes

    i started following Krissy’s workouts through you and i thank you for that😁
    but… although i’ve been really enjoying them i must say i agree with you on the volume part.
    i’ve been going to the gym for the past 6 years and built up a lot of strength and endurance (i can safely say - above average for a woman) but man, those upper body workouts of hers!
    they leave me sore for up to 3 days, which does feel good sometimes, but i just don’t think it’s necessary for progress.
    props to her for going through them every time tho, damn😅

      I"ve noticed that most of these instagram workout people do TONS of volume to make people feel like they're doing a lot and continue to do it. Most new people ar like "wow I got so sore, that must have been a super great workout!" Which isn't the best. I've worked out for 12 years and I tried certain workouts form trainers and ended dup injuring myself trying to follow them because it was just too much.

    I love Krissy. When she posts her workout plans I greatly appreciate her walking you through how to do each exercise. Her own personal reps and sets she was doing in this video are irrelevant because that was her workout she was following on her app for herself. It would obviously be different for anyone else depending on their goals. It's unfortunate that she was used as an example when there are so many other "influencers" who have almost no backing on their workout knowledge. Big L on picking on her on this video. And hopefully Krissy is recovering and taking care of herself. She stated she was recovering & sometimes when you're sick it's hard to tell if you're over doing it or just feeling weak from the illness which is why maybe she pushed hard on those sets.

    I love a lot of Krissy’s stuff but totally agree with you on this one. Most of her stuff is pretty reliable but I think youtube fitness influencers feel the pressured to do things that are novel and new and interesting which ends up getting in the way of what could have been a really solid workout. Everyone wants to recreate the wheel.

    You quite often talk about excessive volume, since I'm probably guilty of this(27 sets pull 23 sets push day 35 sets leg day). I wanted to ask how do you balance your workout without neglecting major muscle groups? It feels like there is no room to reduce volume without sacrificing potential development.

    • @Moose92411
      @Moose92411 Рік тому +2

      Having an A and B version of each workout helps. Also doing fewer sets but more movement is an option.

    • @josephinetapp3340
      @josephinetapp3340 Рік тому

      Not an expert but: I feel like if you're treating some of these sets as warm-up sets, you're quite golden. But as the person above me said, I like variation with fewer sets per exercise. I know 3-4 working sets per exercise selected is quite common but I actually hover around 1-3. Ideally 2 unless I feel like a movement pattern is unique (like hip thrusts or maybe lateral shoulder work). I also do a lot of lower body volume but split across 2-3 leg days. I just feel like my glutes take a while to actually become fatigued. Also look at your exercise selection and see how much overlap there is: for example, a cable row and barbell row or a squat and a lunge - there is a lot of overlap there. It then doesn't seem necessary to do those on the same day if you're taking them all to or near failure.

    • @josephinetapp3340
      @josephinetapp3340 Рік тому +2

      Also, to the point of A and B workouts, I think it's a good idea especially when you consider that bilateral and unilateral work is necessary. I normally have a mix of bi and uni in any workout but do their complimentary exercise on the b day. Eg: squats on leg day A followed by single leg hip thrusts
      and
      regular hip thrusts followed by lunges/split squats on leg day B.
      Helps me to minimize the junk volume on any given day since the muscle isn't usually overfatigued for that same movement pattern.

      Hi,
      This is called Progressive overload and it is an amazing way to slowly increase the volume of your weights and improve! :)
      You are not forced to do it but is important because at one point that will be a point where the exercise will not be challenging so you will no longer see results unless you do way more reps maintaining the same weights! ;)

If you are a person who constantly studies and reads up on training and the science behind gains and muscle hypertrophy- I feel the programs don’t hit the idea volume, training, time efficiency style that I am looking for. I create my own programs through research and self study as well as speaking to experienced trainers with 10-20 years in the field and it’s helped me gain huge strength and volume on my body very efficiently- with the right macros of course. Krissy is great but her app isn’t really for girls who have the train for efficiency mindset…
