Family Saves Chihuahua From Coyote’s Jaws
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 жов 2021
- First came the desperate barking, then a frightening sight. A coyote chasing a chihuahua through its backyard catches up and chomps down on the poor little pup. The coyote starts to make a getaway with the dog still in its jaws, but homeowners Kerri and Larry Ruiz came to the rescue. They didn’t approach the coyote or shoot it; the only thing they fired off was an airhorn! Thankfully, little Chico the chihuahua escaped. Now Kerri and Larry say they keep airhorns by every door in the house. #news

I had a coyote problem once. I solved it by purchasing Mountain Lion urine (synthetic) I put the Coyotes on the menu and they never came back. I moved in and two months later they were never seen in the neighborhood again. Hunters use synthetic urine to attract but I used reverse technology by distributing the urine on the trees around my home. Wolves eat Coyotes, Mountain Lions eat wolves so Mountain Lion urine scares the heck out of Coyotes.
Never heard of seen wolves or lions praying on coyotes
That's one lucky lil dog. Coyotes don't give up a meal easily.

OMG, I'm so shocked that coyote didn't run off with the little dog, usually their pack animals, if there were 2, that dog definitely wouldn't have survived. As I'm writing this comment I hear coyotes across the street yelping and howling, they live in the golf course because that's the closest thing to wilderness around here. I read stories on Next Door warning neighbors that a coyote got their small pet, and it just baffles me people will let their pets out unsupervised in an unfenced yard!!!!
I bet it was a combination of Chico still fighting like mad and then that air horn startling the coyote.
Neither do i
I need to buy an air horn ASAP! I have two small/medium dogs (little bigger than Chico) and I’ve witness them getting into a few scuffles with whatever animals. We have coyotes & foxes in my area. I keep a metal bat by my back door, but what if I can’t catch up? 🥺 this vid has good info!

Almost exact same thing happened to my 15 year old Boston Terrier named Joon… my family irresponsibly let her go in the backyard unattended at night and my mom heard her bark then gurgle in pain as the Coyote dragged her by the neck down the slope. We all ran outside screaming her name, which is why we think the coyote eventually dropped her. My heroic neighbor who was in his backyard at the time leapt into action and went down the steep slope, found her, then brought her back up. I was so grateful to him, gave him a 100 bucks and a thank you card. One of the scariest things to ever happen but lesson learned for my family who thought it was okay to just send her out alone. Smfh. I’m just happy she survived, idk what I would do without her.

Besides the air horn they need to get Chico the vest that going abound a few years ago. It has various sets of plastic spikes on it. Coyotes will leave him alone after they try to get him with the vest on.
Add a Spike collar to that too. Coyotes, like most dogs, try to bite the neck in order to sever the spine and vocal chords so prey stops moving as quick as possible. They do alternate with biting the rib/gut for the same reason, but with rabbit sized pets like Chico....well you saw what happened.

I was walking my chihuahua ON A LEASH in the park one morning when a hawk made several passes over our heads. The last time it swooped down, our backs were to the sun, I saw it's shadow approaching, and promptly yanked my dog away to the other side of me. That bird flew by so close, I felt it's wing brush my leg! We were so paranoid whenever we went on walks for a while after that. But I unwittingly made friends with the crows in the neighborhood because I put out bird and squirrel food every day. The last time I saw that hawk in the park, the crows surrounded it and chased it away. One crow landed on a branch above the path my dog and I were standing on watching this happen. It squawked at my dog who looked up at it and wagged his tail. Then it flew off. When I told my sister about it she jokingly said we were under the protection of the crow mafia.😆

This was *about* to be a food animal story
Bro didn't go down without a fight 👑
That Coyote is basically cannibalistic
Poor Chico, I'm glad his momma is a fast thinker and he's doing well now!
I wouldn't consider that fast thinking , they both forgot to grab an air horn when they ran out , I would consider it EXTREMELY LUCKY !
@@johnnie3Chords Most humans with no training or enough experience will be able to react as fast as we think they should. But she at least reacted fast enough (maybe not instantly) to save her dog
@@johnnie3Chords In the state of excitement, she had the presence of mind to grab that air horn. That was fast thinking through adrenaline.
"They took Chico! Oh my God!"
Literally over here tearing up that was so wholesome
Yeah, tearing up in laughter 😭

Other dog took off. Every dog for himself!!! Chico seemed to not know what’s going. He’s wasn’t running to fast.
He's older

ABLE76, what is so funny. You must be a teenager because your reaction isn't very adult.
@@billkohrman107 you've guest it👍

0:40 the narrator says they were terrified but shows them walking with a big smile 😂
My small dog was killed by a coyote in our back yard recently. So glad Chico made it out. Wish I could’ve done better.
