Same thing will work with a small heating pad on your back. Because the lower back area is the first area you discomfort in the cold. It is much smaller to pack too. And drink warm drinks like tea, hot chocolate. However gas station hot chocolate is made from a powder and hot water.
Love vinegar on fries as well. The NJ, Delaware, Maryland beaches have it at the boardwalk fry places. They only have vinegar and salt as an option. No ketchup. Which I agree with haha.
Oh I saw Old Dutch Potato Chips. Oh how I miss these. Growing up near the British Columbia boarder we would go to Canada quite often and get our favorite foods and Old Dutch brings back memories. I haven’t had Old Dutch for over 30 years.
My brother-in-law, in Toronto, drives for FedEx, and they've updated their delivery vans to electric. So you might want to check if they're selling off their old gas vans. Of course, Ontario winters, being what they are, might have soured them on electric charging. I got a 12 V electric warming blanket from Canadian Tire, plus a 1 to 3 adapter so I can plug it and my 12 V fridge in at the same time. I also have their lunchbox oven, which is good for warming up food. It works better if you add a bit of water in the bottom, so the food in the tin-foil bread pans heat better. I love A&W teen burger meals with diet Root Beer. I used to get fries until my son gave me one of his onion rings to try. Yum. :) I've never had an A&W breakfast, because, unlike McDonalds, they'll serve burgers before 11 am. Cheers. Jon in rural BC, Canada

Understand what windchill actually means. If the temperature is -10 and the wind chill is -15, it is still -10...you would just get to the -10 faster in the wind so it "feels like" -15 with no wind. If you're in the van, you would not be affected by windchill at all. I'm sure you know this :-) Cheers!
I'm guessing you don't do much walking outdoors. For those walking their dogs, walking to work, to the grocery store, kids to school, the windchill is absolutely brutal esp if they say it feels like -25c to -30c. It does affect us. I walk my dogs in these brutal freezing temps. No wind is a blessing.
@@tina2750 Oh I understand wind chill and I do walk outside. And, yes, I understand the "feels like". But I also understand that the wind chill doesn't affect the actual temperature. Ken, here, is an a van. i.e. not walking kids to school. If he decided to go for a bike ride, then he can mention wind chill lol.
Hey Ken if you can... put your batteries & cell phone inside a nice warm thermo sock to keep out of the cold elements... never keep close to your body!
As a trucker I’ve had my share of truck stop hot chocolates and I know what you mean about a watery hot chocolate. One thing I’ll do sometimes is I’ll buy just a plain Hershey chocolate bar and break off one or two squares and just put those straight into the hot chocolate and as I sip they melt and sometimes it can really help a watery hot chocolate.
Not sure if this was mentioned before, but if you are using a flame type heater, you should definitely have a carbon monoxide detector (like one for a small RV). I'll speak for everyone and say we want you around for a long time.
Pro tip on gas station hot chocolate from those machines hit the cup first with a bout a quarter of french vanilla then the hot chocolate it will bring all the creamy flavor and feel your missing.

My favorite meal at A&W is the teen burger combo with fries and a diet root beer. When I was a kid, we used to eat at an A&W that had one of those suspended fireplaces. I only ate hot dogs with mustard back then. That A&W was in Burnaby, BC. To help prevent moisture build up in Rusty, you can use a product called Moisture Grabbers. They come in triple pack of small size and a single pack of large size. The large ones will do a 10'x10'x10' room. They last about 4 to 8 weeks. We use the large ones in our RV and in our basement crawl space. Canadian Tire or Home Depot sell them.
That brings back memories when I used to have to live out of a van because I was homeless at the time and it sucked believe me it was not an easy walk in the park because the van couldn't even move it all and it was stuck in my parents driveway next to the garage taking up space in the driveway and having to run an extension cord to it just to be able to fire up the heater
There's another UA-camr who sleeps in his F truck alot & uses propane heaters to keep warm. He uses a CO2 monitor. Shouldn't Ken be using one as well? 🤔
@@SuperRoo_22 he can is not going to hurt anything I've been inside a camper with them running then wake up in the middle of night and and the heater be shut off or in my dear stand it won't turn CO2 level is low it won't even turn back on
He got out of the van in the morning and the parking lot was all wet. There was standing water in the low areas. Water not ice. My guess is it was in the mid 30's Fahrenheit!
From Toronto we had are first snowfall of the year on Friday Jan 10th overnight. The temps earlier in the week were pretty brutal. But, that’s Canada. I remember living in Italy for five years from 1981-85 where the only heat source in our home was the kitchen fireplace. A couple times it was so cold we had frost on the bedroom floors. Lots of quilts on the beds. I enjoy watching your videos. I cringe when I see your choice of snack food. And I know Petro Can carries fresh fruit snacks in the fridge.
Hi Ken! I enjoy eyeing you experiment with new techniques and technologies. Your new electric blanket has a “cozy” quality that appeals to me. I think my favorite is when you first have lunch, then dinner, then breakfast in the morning. But just two meals would be fine; I’d rather you respect your mind and body’s wellness, than to indulge my whims. I’d still watch all your videos anyway!
Well from the thumbnail looks like it's going to be even colder looks amazing. I hope it went well. Hope the food was delicious and that you were able to stay warm through the night.
I stayed at that same gas station for 2 nights last week...I found it to loud with all the truck traffic but it is a convenient spot for stealth camping. Great video once again Ken!
Or even come late afternoon 3 or 4pm do an early dinner late lunch. Then set up stealth, snack before bed and a breakfast. Good amount of food shown in a video and also shows the stealth part. If its warmer ot, maybe can start noon and do lunch and dinner and breakie next morning. And can ride bike, run, etc during afternoon to burn the calories.

Hey Ken! Cool. Looking forward to the bigger van...I so want to do this too. Steve Wallis uses a Mr.Heater overnight, but in a bit bigger area. I think they're pretty safe... Just make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector...and you have that.
I use a Mr Buddy heater in my tent, because my tent wood stove gets baking hot, the wood stove is best if its 20f or less. However , the mr heater is sort of to large for a mini van, they have safety devices if it tips over, but i will switch positions several times and afraid a blanket coprner will get into the grate of the mr heater, being in such a small confined area.
At walmart they have electric blankets that will run for 10hrs at a time. About 100 bucks. They have a instant preheat also and can be controlled by phone.also very soft and much bigger and still only 125 watts in highest setting.

You need a bowl of hot porridge with blueberries and honey. Plenty of heat in porridge , not much in processed snacks.
Buttery Grits with bacon and eggs will fill and warm you right up.

You make heading towards a clogged artery look so beautiful. Haven't been near an A&W in over 50 years, but my favorite was the root beer float.
Hot dogs? Used to be my favorite with a frosty mug of rootbeer.
Stop into an asian market and pick up a Korean heating pad in twin size. You sleep on top of them, not underneath them. Makes a HUGE difference.
