Yes, this is how we remove "duplicate" vertices (actually they are not always duplicates, but just very close that breaks the bevel) 👍 But it is only one of the many possible causes that gives rise to bevel issues.
I actually like to use "Face orientation" setting and using 100% transparent color for the normal faces (in interface preferences) and bright red color for the backfacing faces. That way I can keep using that option all the time and I'll automatically get red highlight at any time the normals are reversed.
It was the scale problem for me, i had no idea what was causing it,i checked the face orientations but thank GOD found the right video, thanks a lot man
Thank you. There may be a different issue in your case, can you please share your blend file so that we can try to identify what could be the cause? Our contact details (Email IDs) are given in the About section of this channel. Thanks!
@@5MinutesBlender thanks, I had cut holes in the object using a boolean modifier, so I think that had a lot to do with it. So I started over and used the bevel modifier on the cube before I started changing the mesh. so this way if anything causes problems with the bevel I would know immediately. Until I get more experience I'll probably make that a habit. Thanks for the help
Thanks bro, yesterday i was facing this problem, now i get to know. But one issue also i was facing that i do shade smooth but faces are not getting smooth, they have line of meshes vertical, why is it so.
Shade smooth may not give correct result if the geometry of your object is not clean. Incorrect normals, or duplicate vertices can be some of the issues. Please inspect around the area where shade smooth fails. You can go into the edit mode and check what is wrong.
Hello Derek. I have a problem in 12:10 with the bevel modifier, it is not working correctly. There is showing more connections with other faces and other stuff. Could you say waht is the problem?
There can be some specific issues with specific models, hard to guess. But if none of the stated methods solves your problem, you can select all in the edit mode and try to do a Limited Dissolve. If still not able to resolve, you can send your blend file as-is to us at 5minblender@gmail.com and we will investigate it. Thanks!
Hello and thank you for the video. I have had a problem with Bevel modifier. This modifier was connecting the vertices that were not connected normally and disconnecting some of the vertices that were making a face together. None of the sollutions you have told were working for this problem, the vertices were correct, normals were also for each face and scaling was not an issue. Then I tried to add bevel with using edit mode menu (also for all the object) and there was no such troubles. Do you know what could be a possible reason for this? Thank you.
I have experienced this too. There is one difference between the Edit tool and the modifier although the underlying functionality is almost the same. The modifier uses a "Limit Method" which determines which edges or which vertices to be included into the bevel (and this may not be always the same as what we intend to do) whereas the same tool in the Edit mode uses an explicit edge selection i.e. it includes only the edges we specifically selected for this operation. I guess this may be a reason why you saw a difference in the results from both of these methods, although I must say that some beveling issues can be too complex to explain, at least in my experience.
Just made my object bevel even worse after trying tip 1 and 2. I already had tried tip 3 from prior research. Not sure why a default cylinder would be so jacked up with nothing done to it.
We covered some common use cases, but an object can have other type of issues that may need some specific handling. We can help you further if we get to see your blend file. Our contact details are given in the About section of this channel. If you can send your blend file, we will look into it and suggest a fix. Thank you!
Eh didnt work. Removed vertices but yet when i try to add bevel to an edge on the object it makes segments but only on one of the faces of the corners, instead of both, keeping it flat.... doesnt make sense
There may be some rare cases outside the common errors we have discussed in this tutorial. For each of such cases, the solution may be different. So if you can send your model to us (5minblender@gmail.com) we will be able to investigate the issues and suggest a fix. Thank you!
Hey, that's surprising. May I know which version of Blender are you using? And can you also send me a screenshot so that I can check? Our contact details are given in the About section of this channel. Thanks!
Sometimes it may be really difficult to get the bevel effect corrected due to the underlying geometry (or better to say, every geometry has a threshold up to which a bevel will work and beyond which the bevel will break). There are some advanced mesh editing that can help in some cases apart from the common techniques we discussed here, but there are always some 5-10% cases that are impossible to solve without remodeling 🙁

You're the goat man this bevel was making me crazy and the solution was so simple THX A LOT
Glad it helped! Cheers bro 💝💝
You are legend. You saved me from giving up on learning Blender
Glad I could help! 😊
Select all vertices, merge by distance (as long as you don't have verts really close, this won't cause issues). That is what worked for me.
Yes, this is how we remove "duplicate" vertices (actually they are not always duplicates, but just very close that breaks the bevel) 👍 But it is only one of the many possible causes that gives rise to bevel issues.
Now this is a good guide for bevels. Just had some troubles with the bevels and it is now working fine. This is good guide.👍
