I have never complained about my wife's long hair. Just to explain, my Thai wife, who I was with for 16 years before her untimely passing (heartattack) 44 years old. She was the most beautiful, exciting, loving, caring, person I had ever met, and the best time of my life! May was everything that any man would hope to have in there lifetime.

My wife from Chang Mai has gorgeous long shiny black hair and I never find any in our house. Whenever she tends to her hair, she picks up any fallout. I must have scored the perfect partner. 6 years not one raised voice, not one silent treatment, never late, and takes fantastic care of me.

When I get the silent treatment 90% of the time it's because I did something wrong in her dream the night before.

Also had this......silent treatment because I was with another lady in her dream.
I stopped the silent treatment very early into my relationship. 2 days into one of my early visits to see her I upset her somehow, God only knows how. We were in a bar and she turned her back on me and started ignoring me. I asked her to stop and no joy. So I lost it, told her it was insulting to turn her back on an Irishman , I was going home, and that I had not come to Thailand to be insulted . I left her in the bar packed my stuff and was gone. When she discovered me and my stuff gone ,her attitude changed and my phone started to ring. No more silent treatment. We'd still have the odd row but I discovered taking the blame so she saved face, made them small and they were few .In the 8 years we were together I never got the silent treatment again. As for "up to you" and the jealousy I reckon there is no remedy for that. Madness sometimes over nothing.

Had aThai girlfriend when we were travelling. Then the silent treatment came and I could not figure it out. So I told her....when you are not happy I am not happy, so I will buy you a ticket for you to go back to your home and i will continue with my travels. She started to cry and the silent treatment dissolved and we continued with our travels together.

Living with a Thai woman is brilliant. If you're lucky enough to find a genuine one. I've been with my Thai wife for more than 14 years now and despite many ups and downs, these days we rarely row and we have a great life together. They're way better than farang women, most of which have been ruined by feminism and no longer behave like women anymore. Yes she has some annoying habits but so do I, if any relationship is going to last there has to be a massive amount of acceptance and compromise. One of the reasons it's so great to live with a Thai woman is because their culture is so different, something that you'll never fully understand until you live with one. Lots of people that have been going to Thailand for years and have spent a lot of time with Thai bar girls think that they know Thai women well but they don't - you'll never fully appreciate just how big the difference in culture is until you've lived with one for a few months. My Thai missus is a diamond and treats me very well, just like the doting Asian wife that most people imagine when it comes to Thai wives.
Absolutely right mate. My misses is as yours.... I am the happiest man alive and she and I have an incredible relationship...... a far cry from anything to do with the bar girl scene
My wife is Chinese, long dark hair but ALWAYS picks it up after brushing or if she sees any. Never eats on the floor, always eats with her mouth closed, never has a bag on, always extremely polite and cracking jokes even when it is me whom is always a arrogant twat.. She is never late, and loves to cook me anything, at any time day or night, never ever moaned or groaned about anything in 14 years. And guys she always says THANK YOU several times after sex lol.. Oh and she is for ever filling my pockets up if I am running dry on the money... and yep her own money...

I used to live with a Thai woman in Bangkok. She was very nice, but the problems would typically start as a result of other Thai people's interfering and meddling in the relationship.

First off I'll say don't have a girl living with you. Your just inviting trouble. Second the pouting and silent treatment. Just go find another girl. She'll snap out of it. Third if she's late, don't invite her or just go solo. When people ask where's your girl just tell them she wasn't ready so I left. Who knows you might find a better mor punctual girl. You put up with this crap their just going to give you more of it. All this stuff you're discussing is just bad/disrespectful behavior. No sense in putting up with that garbage. If you don't like it, find a girl that will conform to what you want. Be the man!

There is a lot of up sides and I am sure I not easy to live with but it works
Don't remember a girlfriend suiting on the floor in the U.S. But maybe less nagging.

She almost whispers when she talks to me but shouts into the phone when talking to her friends
She will be late to her own funeral
She never throws ANYTHING away, there's more sh*t in this house than you can shake a stick at
She never tells me anything; I'm always the last to know
Never get upset with the first plan you hear about because it won't happen. The half-life of any Thai plan is 30 minutes.
She will disappear for hours with her friends but if I am out five minutes longer than she deems necessary a phone call will follow.
There's enough makeup in our bathroom to open a salon
When she's hungry, feed her NOW!
Invites her girlfriends to the house ("The Usual Suspects" as I have named them) and they just speak Thai thus excluding me from the conversation despite the fact that we live in the US and they all speak excellent English.
She falls asleep on the sofa and I have to move her, undress her, and tuck her in (not complaining here) and she never remembers it the next morning.
God made floors so my wife would have a place to put her clothes
God gave her to me so I wouldn't be a lonely, old man. I love and adore my wife of 13 years and cannot imagine a life without her.
If you end up half so lucky as me, consider yourself blessed.

Finally I want to comment that someone suggested its disrespectful when she talks to her girlfriends in Thai in front of you, that is NOT disrespect, it's a necessity for almost everyone living away from their home country to feel the need to speak in their own language. Women worldwide want a man who has a plan and can make a decision. Right or wrong, good or bad she will stand with him if he made the decision. Never ever ask a woman what she wants to do, it doesn’t matter what she wants to do. If she wanted to do something particular she will tell you days in advance so YOU can make the plan and decide when/where to do it.

I was married to a Thai lady for 10 year, I had the silent treatment. What I hated the most was when we would go to Thailand for a Holiday we would take her family to different places but I was never told what we were doing or where we are going. I remember one time, we took her parents to Chiang Mai. She told me we are going on a tour of the city . I thought should be interesting, what she failed to mention was, we went to 500000000 different temples and every F_ ___ing market place in Chiang Mai. Her parent spent around 5 to 10 thousand at the temples buying useless shit and giving money to temples and monks, then they spent more at the stupid markets on complete crap. I was thinking I paid for your flights, for the hotel and the money for the tour etc. So that annoyed me the most not telling me what was happening

u know my thai wife has lived in enland with twenty years she is forntunate to have married me ,she never has had to work had a new bmw every two years lovely home in pattaya where i built several, retuned home to thailand 4 times ayear whilst i stayed in the uk looking after our daughter, she made a huge circle of thai friends in the uk that were married to farangs not one of them were in a happy relationship
I love the silent treatment! I walk about the house saying how peaceful and quiet it is! It's easier to just laugh it off than to try and find out what it's all about, drives her nuts to when she realises it's not working!!

@@Buzzinpattaya Live and let live is what my Dad used to teach me. I just let her be when it comes to her selfies and playing games on her phone. As for the ordering too much food, we don't seem to have much of that problem. Everything is usually eaten anyway.

The one I don't like is true of many western women as well, they buy and place everywhere little porcelain figures or knicknacks. Clutter in small living areas drives me nuts.
I've been married to a Filipina for 13 years. Other than eating on the floor, you nailed it. But I thank God for her loyalty and passion that can't be replicated in western women.

I do not think he has a negative attitude to thai girls, but let be honest, being woman or thai or anything does not make you perfect. He just point the things he find annoying in thai girls as to tell men to be prepared for what a relationship might look like with a thai lady. Just because you are the exception, does not mean the rule does not exist. The man is just being honest from what he have seen and experienced through the years. I am sure there are things thai girls find annoying about farrangs they date and that is ok too. Do not get angry at him. Just have humility and accept criticism. You as a group are not perfect, just as farrangs are not perfect. Still the gentleman and myself think thai girls are excellent women.
I know someone who is living in Pattaya and he has been living there for over 17 years, with Aussie pension. He lives alone and whenever he needs a female company he calls one of the girls he knows, they come over provide the service and he pays them and they leave. He is happy as Larry.

If you can't stand living alone, that means you can't stand yourself, what you do? I'm going to live with a girl to keep me company, to keep me happy?
Every time you live with someone, they will bring all their habits with them, at the end of the day its not worth, why people do it?
First of all we are conditioned or programmed to have a living partner, secondly we don't like to be alone because we get bored and depressed.
My advise to you, get to know yourself, pay attention to your thoughts and listen what your mind is telling you.
I get what ya say but some people enjoy company it's individual choices. I love my own company and love my time with my wife, I get the best of both worlds
I don't see the point of having a relationship in Pattaya. All these issues can be avoided by sticking to ST and getting a cleaner / assistant. There are plenty of expats if you want company. Really, you don't want to be living with a girlfriend in Pattaya. It's like living in a candy shop and only being allowed to eat one kind. Even if its a nice type, you will still get tired of it. Usually, if you are in a relationship with a Thai girl, you will have to pay them anyway, so it is not radically different to the ST solution I proposed. In addition to these niggling annoyances mentioned by Trevor, there are some huge risks to be considered as well that surround getting too close to anyone in Pattaya. It is better not to let anyone there (man or woman) know too much about you - especially your financial situation. Living with a Thai girl obviously complicates this. Avoid.

Most of these points describe most women. Not just Thai women... Long hair everywhere, Silent treatment, Never know where they want to eat, Never on time, and Jealous... Yeah.. I think this is common with most women wherever they come from...

I've lived in Thailand 4 years now and my conclusion is it's near impossible to have a meaningful long term relationship with a Thai woman much due to a very hard money driven culture, like mixing oil and water (western expat with a Thai woman) very few relationships go the distance compared to being with a Filipino woman.

The problem is partially the age gap. Most men that can settle down there as expats are retirees which means most don't have the energy they did in their 20's to 50's. and the Thai's make it very difficult for them to work anyway. But I'll bet most of those retirees came from places where their culture was just as driven by money as the Thai's are.
My buddy was with two different Thai women and has migrated tothe Philippines. Filipino women speak better English and are different.
Yeah the good thing about Filipinos is that most of them can speak English. That means you can find a good simple Filipino woman and communicate with her. In Thailand generally the only women that speak English and want to get with a fat old ugly ex Pat are sex workers. You won’t find a simple honest Thai woman that speaks English. Filipinos are just as ruthless and money grabbing if you meet the sex worker types. They also have the same extended family bullshit going on.
Very true, I’m with a Filipina. Much better. It’s the Christian based culture, makes a huge difference. Buddhist societies are ruthless.
I haven’t been in a relationship in terms of a girlfriend , but just my friends that I have made over the years of coming to Pattaya a couple of annoying things, definitely their lack of punctuality and even businesses. Next when I have gone shopping with some of my friends they obviously think it is okay to put things in my cart and expect me to pay for it , has happened countless time and when I mentioned it to them their answer is It’s ok no problem for you. I pride myself on being generous but I do not like being taken advantage of, sometimes that just chaps my hide.

The silent treatment was the number one reason I left my Thai girlfriend, was with her for 3 years and you didn't know from one day to the next what was going on. You didn't have to do anything to get the treatment. I ended up so fed up one night after it was completely spoilt from that crap I went back packed a few things and took of. Straight to the airport in Kohn Kaen and in Bangkok by the time she realized I was missing.

I know exactly how you feel. I finished up with my TG of 2 years for exactly the same reason. The moodiness was something I just couldn’t deal with. She came to stay with me in Oz for several months and in the end I couldn’t wait for her to go home. When she did return to Thailand I let her know we were finished and she was genuinely shocked when I explained why.
I did the same sort of thing. Me and my Thai girlfriend were staying at the Pullman in Khon Kean.
I got the silent treatment , so I left my girlfriend in the room and went out to a couple of bars just around the corner.
She never spoke to me for two days after that.
When she did start talking, she said it was all my fault for leaving her in the room by herself.
What she did learn , was that i was not going to put up with her nonsense.
The being late attribute would make me mental... I was raised by a father who was a Navy Officer and he drilled into us "If you're on time, you're 15 minutes late" LOL

My mother in law & other family members were 30mins late to her own brothers funeral service.
I've never been to Thailand, I met my Thai wife in Germany while in the Army, I tried to go to Thailand after our 2nd kid but got orders for Iraq instead. My wife was a waitress at a Thai restaurant and married at the time to a German when we hooked up. After she left him she got an easy divorce and we got an apartment in Northern Bremen. We lived together for 18 months before getting married in Denmark, It lasted 10 years, and 3 kids. The 3 biggest problems I had were.
1. Jealousy - I was accused of sleeping with just about every female we knew especially if they were Thai.
2. Money - like most men married to Thais I gave her money monthly for her and her family. She kept asking for more despite having 3 kids and my constant refusals which turned into fights.
3. Thai friends - A lot of them were bad influences and many of them have hit on me. They will gossip, talk about how evil you are, and scheme against you together.
* In the end, we got divorced, I got custody of the kids, and we remained somewhat friendly.

And, almost all the girls have been educated via their families in a rural environment. Appreciate them for who they are and enjoy the experience. These issues are global. With thais it is more noticeable because they wear their heart on their sleeves. I overcome the lateness by adding extra time to when we’re leaving, but in most cases, they’re right, it doesn’t matter (also ex-military). The floor eating is hard, I compromised when I was last there by sitting on a really small stool, just a few inches off the ground, made a huge difference.
Let me please add, the generally always never on time habits are just bad manners. I dont believe girls with any responsability in the workplace would act like this. They would not last. So IMO the lack of timekeeping is just disrespecting you.

7 talking in Thai when everyone there can speak English
8 taking fortune tellers seriously my wife actually changed the color of a new car once due to this I hit the roof when I went to collect it and there sat a black car and not the red I ordered

No 6 mate, drives me mad and happens daily..
On one occasion my 'friend' & I were up in Nong Khai having a great meal by the Mekong river....
A few nights later in a different restaurant I ordered the same food but it look disgusting & I didn't eat & then got the silent treatment for a day or so.
Fast forward a few weeks later in Chang Rai & while in a Italian restaurant my 'friend' wanted to try pasta, I did try to explain she wouldn't like it but my remarks fell on deaf ears.
After a couple of mouthful's my 'friend' said "cannot cannot" to which I took great pleasure in reminding her of the time in Nong Khai & I don't give her the silent treatment.🤔

You're right about the habits. That's where you find out if living with a Thai girl is for you or not. If you find these habits annoying then it's probably not for you to live with a Thai ... The silent treatment btw was a difficult one for me to adapt to. At the end I used to get up first and leave the house early for a morning coffee (alone).

Easiest way to deal with the silent treatment is pack a bag and tell her you will be in touch,I guarantee it.will stop immediately,then you just explain to her that mind games are for teenagers and if this is how it is going forward then forward won't last long,I would not put up with this from any woman of any nationality,life's to short to be second guessing other people.

Been with my misses for 24 years now, and mostly good experience. Most annoying traits:
1. yep as you said, the silent treatment! Not really an issue in the latter years, but really annoying in the early years.
2. The thing that has annoyed me for years is the money wasted on religious "offerings" (putting food and drink out in the sun on buddha day)! I'd rather the money went to a good charitable cause, like the many current hungry folk caused by the virus.

I don't blame any woman for saying, " it's up to you" to her man. That's a win. It's the man's job to be decisive, to have a plan. Girls just wanna show up and look pretty. As for silence in women, that too is a gift! In my opinion, long natural hair beats a shaved head dyed green. A woman being late or jealous is genetic. All women run late and get jealous.

Not having lived with a Thai girl, i can confirm everything you list is identical to the Filipino women, with the exception of eating on the floor. I would like to say jealousy can run strong and add to your list of behaviours...appauling money management. They are almost alwys in horrible debt and need help. For example, my wife said she wanted to go to the mall, we drove to the mall and a motorbike hit the car, long story short the wife said it was her fault for wanting to go to the mall. So ideally we should never ask what they want to do, they expect the western man to lead and they will follow us to the ends of the earth.

Aside from a girl saying "up to you", it gets used by numerous different people in transportation or guides, etc. I always get a chuckle when I say if its up to me, how about nothing? Then I find out what the real cost is....its their way of fishing for potentially more cash, never less.

Every one spot on and funny. Took a while to get used to them. My late wife when not giving me the silent treatment could suddenly erupt, ring the bell storm to the toilet in anger and sit down again or pick my phone up throw it against the bedroom wall. 2 minutes later all re-set. That may have been just her thing, the up to you and timekeeping are classics🤣

"Up to you", is actually a sign of respect and submission. It is however easy to miss it particularly if you are a non Asian. In all honesty, it works quite well as long as they seem to enjoy your choices every time because in the end you are merely a customer whom is always right and is to be pleased.
As for a silent treatment ? Yes, just take it easy until the swing completes its cycle. Otherwise, I agree it could be frustrating at times but it is part and parcel of the game. Please dont spoil it instead play it well !

"Up to you" is all to do with loss of face. Thais/Asians don't want to make a suggestion which goes bad and results in a loss of face to them... Illogical to a Westerner, but it's a cultural thing we have to live with unfortunately...
I have not met a Thai lady who I would consider living with and I have been living here since 2006. Oh sure a lot of them are educated, have decent jobs and don't have children but in the end they are Thai and I am not. My piece of advice is to go on a holiday with your designated piece of fluff and make sure it's not a place like Phuket, Samui, Krabi or Hua Hin but someplace quiet where she isn't going to be able to go shopping. You will quickly learn how the two of you might get along if you decided to shack up together. And finally, if you decide to kick her out it's not going to be that easy. In the end you will quickly decide it just isn't worth it.

"Up to you" is how someone on your payroll normally acts. Why not ask her for a list of things she likes to do and you chose which one you want to do. Win-win.

i lived with a thai girlfriend in las vegas for several years, and of all that you mentioned, only jealousy was an issue. one that you did not mention though, was - gambling; drove me nuts...she was a great cook (best/spiciest som tum ever), loved to camp, fish, take road trips, etc. she was a lot of fun! 2,705 comments, and you have replied to almost all of them. well done sir; very impressive!

First ; Thailand is not England(or Europe) and it will never be. Yes long black hair is everywhere but that´s a small price to pay for your girlfriend. The silent treatment is not special for Thailand. It happens everywhere. My wife never had a chair, table or bed at home. Everything is done on the floor. I like "up to you" . My wife let me decide most things and seldom complain. Never on time is accurate. My wife never had a stamp clock at her work in Thailand. If she slept late she could sneak in to her work and nobody knew. On the positive side; She´s not overweight, She looks after herself, she takes care of the home, and the children, She´s always kind. She´s a great thai cook and she understands that a man and a woman are not the same. Jealous? Yes she understands the competition and are prepared to do what it takes to get rid of other women

Very interesting and true! I've been married nearly 10 years to my Thai wife. The funniest thing you shared was the tendency to naturalness thing is the being "late". I'm a Christian and my wife converted so our Church meets every Sunday at 1:00 , not as my wife thinks 15 mi utes or thirty minutes after 1:00 pm! Ive exhausted my logical requests to try to be early instead of late. Best solution so far is to set every clock in the house ahead at least 15 minutes ahead! After a few months she caught on so she factors in that cushion and so it will only work for a while! In spite of some annoying habits I am still glad and happy to have married my beautiful Thai wife! You now need a segment on the great attributes of Thai women!

Being late is not just a Thai thing. When my wife and I started working in 1980, we became good friends with some Cuban couples. One in particular introduced us to “Cuban time” which was much later than the invitation stated. We got used to it and adapted quite well.

2.Silent treatment. Filipinas do the same thing. The Filipino word is for it is 'tampo'.
3. My wife cooks often cooks one thing for her and something more Canadian for me. But she has never eaten sitting on the floor.
4. Up to you... I hear that from my Filipina wife all the time if I ask the question, what do you want to do, see or whatever.
5. Time. Time has no meaning. There is 'our' time. There is Filipino time, which Is almost always late and there is Filipina time which is even later...
6. Jealousy. You are right on. Thai women and Filipinas have identical Jealousy Genes. If I go out with out with my buddies, I can expect to be thoroughly questioned about the evening. Remember the Al Pacino movie, The Scent of a Woman? My wife could smell the scent of a woman on me from 50 feet away UPWIND if I was misbehaving. I kid you not.

As far as the silent treatment , I'm married to a filipina and they're exactly the same way. Just a hint...what they want is for you to initiate some kind of either physical contact or to be kind whether it's food or doing something nice for them to sort of "say sorry" even though you've nothing to apologize for... not in words but in I guess "loving kindness"...usually snaps them out of it fairly quickly.

After living together for 12 years now, I actually quite like the silent treatment. One thing that does annoy me though, if we are driving somewhere (UK or Thailand) and another car pulls out on me, and its 100% the other driver at fault, my wife always blames me and says something like "you not looking" or " you not drive careful". That really gets on my t**s.

The most annoying: I invited regular Thai woman on the dinner and 3 sisters wiht husbands and children came with. When I told her this was the last time because I can take care her only and nobody else, she told me: "This is Thailand and not Europe darling and you have accept our tradition !!!!" After that I became single. Thai prostitutes were much better becasue I could said my rule and 90% of them accepted it. If not, the romance was finish.

I’m married to my second Indonesian wife living in Indonesia. The long hair oh my god it’s everywhere. It’s always a huge nest on the end of the broom also but I love women with long hair and black hair is my favourite colour ha ha ha. Silent treatment definitely for no reason whatsoever, I put it down to a bad day or that time of the month. Luckily I only get it for an hour or two at the most. Eating on the floor my last wife only ate there. This one will only do that if it’s a ceremony with friends (very rarely). You forgot to me they eat 6 to 8 times a day and none of these meals correspond with the times we eat ever. Being late for everything used to drive me crazy, so embarrassing. Here we call it Bali time even though we don’t live on Bali. Must admit I have chilled a little on this and she has changed a lot. What would you like to do today? The answer is always up to you my husband which drives me crazy still because I would like to please her. I have the most beautiful, funny, happy, loving wife a man could ever dream of. She is an absolute gem.

I prefer Latin women and experience none of these issues. I have been to Thailand several times and the ladies are beautiful, but the issues you bring up is why I am in Mexico rather than Thailand. My ex-wife (California girl) was always late. I finally started adding 20-30 minutes to our time frame! Worked like a charm. Maybe try it a couple of times.

Never lived with a Thai GF. Had some regulars come over if they had nothing to do. Don't have problems with eating on the floor if that's what they prefer. The hair thing, asked them to pick up all the hair before leaving, always did without drama. In bed when I ask them what they like and they say up to you, I'm loving it. I do the freakiest things and when they are shocked I tell them it was up to me 555.
Couldn't live with a Thai live in, would age me twice as fast so they leave around noon. Tell them I got things to do

Spot-on with the hair. We got our carpets steam cleaned and the guy said he can always tell when an Asian woman is living in the house as the hair clogs up this cleaner. Its taken my Viet lady about 2 years to adjust to “ western” punctuality but i still have to push her along sometimes. Great ladies though!

“Upto you” is a lot of women’s answer. The indecisiveness and not liking lateness is definitely a peeve of military/ex military. That said, my brother is serving RAFP and the only thing he doesn’t like being late is his hotel butler. 😂

Must be an asian culture thing, my wife is a Filipina and you described almost everything she does as well (except for eating on the floor, that could be just a personal lifestyle thing).
The late thing always gets me worked up the most. They call it "Filipino time"; the native tribes in the U.S. are that way as well, they call it "Native time". To work around my wife's tardiness, I always name the time an hour or so ahead of the actual time; it sometimes works. Additionally frustrating is if we are running late and I try to rush my wife she gets very angry at me; man, it's like a sin to rush our asian woman despite the fact that their tardiness is a equally as bad.

They are absolute shit at understanding economics and business....many times she asked me to "borrow" money to do some upgrade on the family farm (digging out the pond, solar water pump etc). I always ask her how much more rice is this project going to produce to make sure there is an adequate return on investment....she looks at me like I am speaking greek so I stopped funding these stupid money losing projects.....they also have no idea about profit margin.... if they can sell something then it is successful never thinking about how much it cost.

Yes, you're right. Spot on Liam. They seem to be totally focused on themselves and nowt else. They look at their phones for hours every day. They go to the toilet and take their phone and headphones they go and make a cup of coffee same thing again. And when you check they're watching Tik Tok videos of cute dogs or cats for ten or twelve hours !!!!!!.
It's never anything useful or interesting stuff like the history of World War II or Quantum Physics. Never anything about world or even local politics.
They like looking at food on their phones. They send each other photos of the food they're going to eat in a few minutes to all their mates.
Oh, .................................... how could I nearly forget ? They've always got a pain somewhere. Pain in their neck, in their stomach, period pain, pain in their head, pain in their shoulder, pain in their back, pain in their ............... You name it and they'll have had a pain in it recently, if not right the second you ask them how they're feeling today.
But ten minutes later she says "Oh, I'm going to the beach for a swim" She returns about five hours later having been walking for miles and swimming in her jeans and top, fit as a fiddle ...................... for about five minutes. Then the next day she says "Oh look I'm black" She's been in the sun for hours and is looking gorgeous and you tell her she's gorgeous and never mind and then she says "No I'm black, I look like an old lady, not good looking"
The next day I say "Don't go into the sun. You'll get even more black" Five hours later she returns black as your hat. Then she notices her skin's started to peel and come off. ..................... And then somehow it's all my fault.

If you are a Farang, you could spend your entire adult life in Thailand and chances are you will never fully understand Thai people's way of thinking or mindset. If you want to retire there, it would be wise to really retire and adopt an attitude of Mai Pen Rai. For most of us it was a whole lot of stress to get to retirement, the idea is to enjoy it, not expect a foreign people in a foreign country to adapt 100% to you. The positives of living in Thailand way outweigh the negatives in my opinion, health and friendship is way more important than wealth .If it gets to you, you can always leave, but the whole idea is to leave the rat race behind.
