I will say, Buffet disowned his granddaughter and claimed she's adopted because she was interviewed for a documentary (she only said nice things about him.) I will agree, he endorses foods that would kill people at a young age if they ate them too often. I don't eat anything he promotes.

Poorly executed arguments, felt really forceful. Comparing drug price vs Candy or coke price. One is a necessity item, super regulated. people can live without candy and coke. and if you raise the price, nobody is forcing you to buy candy from that Brand, you have other options. For that particular drug case, you don't have any option.

For example, Goldman sachs bought CDS in 2007 (they're like insurance contracts in case those mortgage bonds goes bust), so they are more likely to survive the Financial Crisis, that created an opportunity for buffett

    • @jasminep.9860
      @jasminep.9860 7 місяців тому +26

That has nothing to do with hustle culture. You're connecting two things that don't always go together. There's nothing wrong with having aspirations and wanting something beside the pushed traditional path. The problem is when people care more about succeeding than about morals, and their aspirations become selfish and are done for purely selfish gain, instead of acquiring wealth honestly (it's rare, but it does happen) and donating/sharing your wealth. You're right, some people shouldn't be revered. But, wanting to be successful doesn't mean that you automatically revere these people; you can strive to be successful for your own reasons without admiring these people.

Sorry...but, I don't find anything wrong here, except maybe the insider trading incidents. I actually wanted to see something truly negative about him.
Wanting to maintain a good public image is not a crime. Investing in cigarette companies or CocaCola is not a crime. I know they are harmful to society overall, but it is the government's job to limit their usage somehow (through taxes or regulation). If some profitable business is legal, a smart investor would invest in it.
Looking for pricing power is not a crime. Pricing power just indicates the superiority of the product. There is nothing wrong with increasing candy prices. You can price candies as high as you want (basically until people are willing to buy them). With pharmaceuticals though, it is not right, as they are essentials - but again, it is the job of the government to control prices/make drugs accessible to everyone.
And most importantly, none of these investments is private; he has openly discussed them publicly multiple times.
The insider trades though are wrong imo, if they really happened. You should have talked more about them - If they truly happened and clearly proved, what happened with the investigations? What was the size of these trades? Honestly, I don't see an incentive for him to buy these shares with personal money before/after Berkshire has bought them, considering most of his money is in Berkshire itself.
I was expecting something actually bad about him, unfortunately there is nothing here...

I disagree with you Jake. Buffett is not a perfect human being and as human being we sin and make mistakes. My proposal is that Buffet has taught a lot of good which I use in my investment and worked. Now I don't think Buffet is teaching to invest in monopoly companies, MOAT company is a company that people decides to choose and favourites it over any other business of its competitors, it is not a monopoly if people chooses the company over its competitors. You can say Google is a monopoly as their efforts to ensures people uses Google as search engines over other search engines but buffet didn't own Google. I agree Buffet's insider trading is not good but you can't say he destroy America and he is an evil person for his investment decision. Furthermore Buffett shares a knowledge to a world that actually expands the grid to new highs when people needs a long term investments they know what company to invest with because of Buffett that allows many retire fund industries all around the world not only America to invest in the MOAT companies that allow average people to grow their retirement funds. Without Buffett's understanding and knowledge many all around the world would not have create a strong compounding retirement funds. Not only that trade around the world would not have a difficult time becoming richer and more prosperous if it is not for Buffett. So yes Buffett is not perfect but the damage of evil hasn't justify to amount as you claim in your video.

I continue by saying Buffett has caused a lot of pain and sorrow to a s**t ton of people. This has to be your most misinformed video yet. Buffett helped resolve the Solomon Brothers scandal, he drinks 6 Cokes a day himself, and being a passive investor in Moody's doesn't make him responsible for their actions. As far as the insider trading goes, we're really talking about two transactions- one for $20M of Wells Fargo and one for $35M of Johnson & Johnson. Do you know how small that is when your net worth is $40-$50 billion at the time those trades happened? It's simply bad timing and an uncharitable view of an individual so wealthy and a company so large. The majority of Buffett's net worth is aligned with Berkshire shareholders. I'm not sure about Warren Buffet himself as a person, but I don't think his advices are evil per se. They are advises about investing, not about ethics, of course there will be circumstances when doing those things would be immoral, but people should be able to use their own judgment when the time comes instead of just doing what it's more profitable always.
For example: a moat is not necessarily a monopoly, it can be just be brand loyalty(...and also, owning a stock of a monopoly is not the same as promoting the monopoly yourself, because owning the stock doesn't help the underlying company, it just makes the company to have contractual obligations to you instead of someone else), pricing power it's not the same as price gouging (it's more a defensive mechanism in case of being hit by inflation), and morally speaking is very different to increase the prices of luxury candies rather than meds (it's the same principle from the business perspective, it just works, but the one taking the decision should use their own judgment and consider all the aspect of that choice not just the business aspect).

    I don't get this!
Is he a businessman or is he a priest?
He has always bought businesses that were stressed. He does not make moral judgements about thier business. The people running the business do that. All he is interested in is if he can increase value. If he is doing something wrong then you need to go after every shop owner who sells anything with sugar in it like coke etc or every car owner like yourself that emits CO2.
    All of this is rediculous.

This video has a fundamental misunderstanding of what insider trading is. Not to mention, he makes these trades personally as well as through berkshire. He makes the trade and then sends the info of the trade, which is his legal obligation. What is your expectation, he tells the public before he makes a trade, this video is full of ignorance

Wait a minute does buffet has a mls business I have been to many investor conferences and they all claim they are buffet’s students hmm I was really biased toward Arvid Ali due to his attack on Cathy but the more you listen to him and put 2 n 2 together it’s really makes sense hmm the world is rigged.

I think that the pricing power aka price gouging advice isn't bad, it is just a good business move, it's a part of how the game is played. But the ethics really come in, once you apply it to the industries, that arguably should not be private and subject to the market forces in the first place (pharmaceuticals).

All business people are thinking about their reputation. All businesses are trying to create a moat. Nothing controversial here.

Everyone has a mask - a public mask which is a chameleon that changes depending where and who you are with, a private mask and a secret mask.
