The quintessential old Hollywood, the dress, the hair and those blue eyes 😢 My mother's favorite who just passed And I treasure the COVID year's were together 😂❤😊❤❤
The stylish gowns the catchy songs the incredible sets the grat talent. The romantic Latin settings Love these Fox musicals. Pure fun!
Irving Berlin was quoted as saying "I'd rather have my songs introduced by (vocally) Alice Faye than anyone else"
They're equally fantastic! The styles between Alice Faye and Betty Grable are like apples and oranges. Grable was much more pert and self-assured with a lively step while Faye was more cool and gracious with a touch of classy serenity. What should be looked at really is the fact that the Fox Musicals are overlooked as a class and really were on par with the more recognised MGM Musicals. They really were magic to that Greatest Generation and to those of us lucky enough to see them today!
A very unique vocal tone from alice faye
PERFECTION !
Alice, simply wonderful!
Obviously Alice represented values that movie goers loved--she was, I believe, the top money maker of 1940. People adored her cool innocence. I do.
What a perfect comparison of Faye and Grable! Both are equally delightful in their own unique styles.
Alice Faye had the most amazing turquoise-colored eyes :)
Fantastic number...Alice is stunning! Thanks for posting this.
"Big girl, big voice." - Irving Berlin
Film - "Week-End in Havana" Song - Tropical Magic Sung by an uncredited Cuban vocal trio and Alice Faye.
So who is this great trio? And what style of singing is it? Sure would like to find out! Thanks!
Beautifully put!
Many historians agree that this trio consisted of Lamberto Leyva, Francisco Mayorga, Luis Santos, and Joseph Garcia. (The Guadalajara Trio.)
Alice Faye is like a tall cool blue carocao drink on a hot summer's night.
Yummy and deliciously put!

Alice Faye, una molto grande artista. Salutti a tutti da Stronzo il Macri Gatto, Maurizio Ladri. Italia.
Jimmy Dorsey's version is the best
Yes -- but Jeanette MacDonald's sea-green eyes could act all by themselves!

To all newcomers to the musicals of the 1940s... I suggest you check out Betty Grable and June Haver's musicals, they're better. Grable replaced Alice Faye as 20th Century-Fox's top moneymaker, and Grable's went on to make more money than Faye's ever did. And if that wasn't enough, Grable and future Grable/Faye spin-off, June Haver, was WAY prettier than Alice Faye! This just the facts! I lay them down like they should be!!!!!!!! Stick with Grable and Haver and there movies!
