- In this video, learn how to use "been to" and "been in" in the present perfect verb tense with a location.
What's the difference between...
I've been to Paris.
I've been in Paris.
Both of these statements are in the present perfect with the verb "to be" and use a location.
But they use different prepositions.
We use "have/has been to + location" to talk about places we've travelled to (or haven't travelled to) in the past.
We use "have/has been in + location" to talk about a past action that continues until now. So right now you're currently in the location.
Learn more about the difference between "been to" and "been in" in the present perfect verb tense with a location in this video.

I'm confused by your response.
The one and *only* correct sentence was "The police officers have been to our building five times."
@@JForrestEnglish
Forgive me, maybe you're focusing only on the use of TO and FOR.
Got it what you said thankyouuuu 😃🥂
Has/have to
It's mean have been to the person/sub went there and aslo came back now he has the experience.
Have/has in
The person hasn't come back yet he is still there.
(We can use since/for in has/have in and we can't use have/has to we only use like 3 times /couple of time like this.)
Thanks for watching! 😁

Hi Jennifer, how's it going?
Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge with us.
It's amazing how a preposition can change the meaning of a entire sentense (that's why I'm a little scared using prepositions).

Hi Jennifer
Great lesson
Thank you! 😃
Thank you !
Thank you so much! 😊
I havent been to Caneda but I have been in Netherland for 6 month.
Aah ! You've drawn a clear distinction between the two cases of having been being not a little ambiguous to me ! So you're telling me that I ought to understand the 'been to' of one's own having life experience per se (; by my dictionary, it means by itself) and the 'been in' of one's having started in the past, but their continuing to stay there until now ! As of December 17, 2020, Thursday in Seoul, as for me, I have taken some good lesson in that very subtle difference in meaning of the two from you, and so Madame, I cannot help saying to you once again that I appreciate you having done such a helpful lesson that day ! :-):-):-):-):-)
Happy to help!

Hey, J. ! How are you doing ? Recently I was thinking about the uses of the prepositions (of place) in, at, and to after the verb phrase "I have been..." as an answer to the question "Where have you been ?" According to my research, I have drawn some conclusions: 1. the speaker could use all these three prepostions aforementioned depending on the meaning and the context of the use of "I have been.." 2. If "I have been" means "I have gone", the speaker should use the preposition "to" 3. If "I have been" literally implies the present perfect of the verb "to be", the speaker should use either "in " or "at" depending on the position of the prepostion's object concercing the place. Please correct me if I'm wrong! thanks!
Sounds like you got it!
This is a great lesson.
Thank you for your teaching.

Hi! Our lovely English Teacher. How are you doing today? Let me give it a try. 1) Luanda, Have you ever been to china? Yes, I've been there two times. 2) She has been to Italy three times.3) Have you ever been to Philippines? No, I've never been to Philippines even once . 1) Today when I was asking Katherine over the phone, how long she has been in New Jersey, she answered that she has been over there for two weeks now. 2) I've been in Johannesburg south africa for six months now.
Whoo hoo!
Thanks for making such a informative video.
I have one question, have you ever been to India?
She has been to New Jersey three times.
Not yet!
Correct me if i am wrong ❌😃
And aslo i think it is used in
"In and at"
Ex- i am at the hospital.(i just go there to buy medicine and normal)
And
I am in the hospital.(sounds like i work there and i am a patient there.)
"in" means physically inside. "At" could mean either inside/outside.
