James burtom great guitarist..I hope that God helps him to get better from this illness and that God gives strength to his children and wife to endure all this...I really like his style I even bought a personalized telecaster..,Brazil
this video is on my favorites and i watch it all the time and read the comments...there's no reason, as good as these guys are, to criticize the talents of Roy Clark..who was a great musician and picker...it's not a competition here..we all love the guys for what they can do.....and we're grateful that we can still relive their greatness...nuff said.

Honestly I could listen to these guys play all day long. Can you imagine an album by that trio? I WOULD BUY ONE. In my opinion it doesn't get any better, this is top of the line...period! We miss you Chet. How could anyone not like Albert? He's fantastic! In my humble opinion JB is the man, but heck fire they are ALL beyond great !!!
Wow...wow wow wow three of the kings of nashville guitar...and albert's sitting there like "okay you two just play...i just want to stand here and watch!"
What a blessing that we have recording technology to keep the now still fingers of Chet Atkins and so many musicians of our era able to thrill generations to come. Tom Loughlin Jr, Utica NY
I was reading all the comments didnt know chet atkins had passed away I love this preformances goes to show its all improvise everyone is showing what each one can do with there own guitars may I also add that goes to show each one has there own unique style great video thanks, for posting R I P chet I didnt know :(
I don't normally listen to country but this is just great! It's always a treat to listen to great musicians, regardless of genre. The way Chet blends in jazzy sounds in his brand of country swing is so cool. Can any one recommend some other great player who does that?
Beautifull hotel. Stayed there back in the 90s. Anybody want to know how to play guitar?? Well here it is at its very best. Hope you have better luck than I have. Only been playing since Christmas 1965. I imagine it took these guys about 4 or 5 months to be as good as me. Oh well it has been fun just trying.
"3 Premier guitar players" is really a huge understatement here! Legendary Icons one & all is way more apppropriate. I still have their verse running thru my head non-stop!
Two kinds of music here: The music that they're making for the listener, and the music on their faces, as they appreciate each other in a way that most listeners can't even begin to imagine. Addendum: They're playing a Ray Charles tune on CMT... How cool is that?
Damn! Here's some lightning in a bottle when you least expect it! The gentleman on your left is James Burton... who just happens to have a model of custom Fender Telecaster Guitar with his name on it.
@siemjelle The guy on stage right is James Burton, Chet in middle and on stage left is Albert Lee. If you ever saw Elvis live (or video) from late 60s until he died, James was his lead guitar player and famous for his pink paisley Telecaster, of which a signature model by Fender was released in the early 90s. Of course, Chet has his "Country Gentleman" model, seen here, and Albert also has a signature model (I am unsure of the date of this broadcast but it is identical to the guitar seen here.)
Good music is good music my friend. No doubt about it.. I'm only 18 and I listen to Ted Nugent, Peter Frampton, Slipknot, Disturbed, and even as far back as Boots Randolph and Chet Atkins.
Add a little caffeine to Chet and you hear Albert.....pour some sweet maple syrup on that and it sounds like James Burton...any way you have it this is DELICIOUS don't ya think so? Thanks cekamania for sharing this gem! LauraUSA
Chet Atkins is OUTSTANDING!!! He is also the main inspiration for many musical artists including "NOKIE EDWARDS" ....(the Lead guitar player for THE VENTURES)!! 5X5 STARS!!!!!! A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+ Thanks, ~ Matt ~
Pure Rock & Roll with a couple hundred blues notes thrown in by all three. It's called dirty, low down, and mean. My main man is Albert Lee. @berkeleyhome's comment below (from 11 years ago) is the best comment of all.
100% agreed. So nice to see Burton step in and rescue the day in a case of all's well that ends well. So smooth and professional on all their behalfs. I wonder what Albert did to unplug himself?
I've seen so many session players using them. Just watch the Country Music Awards and you're bound to see one on the stage. My friend's replaced the speakers in his with Vintage 30s, and I have to say, it sounds even better.
@deadenddude Chet's playing is unexciting just like the Mona Lisa, the Taj Mahal, and your first kiss. No fireworks or sirens, but you'll never forget it. Even if you wanted to.
Chet Atkins was one of only a couple of gutiar players who could play two songs at the exact same time! And he found a couple of different sets of songs that he could do this with. One pair, I remember hearing him play, was Yankee Doodle Dandy and Dixie. It may sound crazy but you could clearly hear the two songs being played at the exact same time!
Albert's main influence was James Burton, but both were influenced by Chet. Thousands upon thousands were influenced by these three including me. Love it, even Albert's amp screw up--that's live performance for you. Smooth, slick, and tasteful.
What a country trio. The best of them all.
i've posted before..and here again...this moment of genius is so wasted on this audience...they have NO idea what they have just witnessed.....
My stars above - NEVER saw this before - thank God for people who archive tape!
James burtom great guitarist..I hope that God helps him to get better from this illness and that God gives strength to his children and wife to endure all this...I really like his style I even bought a personalized telecaster..,Brazil
The joy of playing together. I like the way they smile when someone else is soloing.
Albert Lee, regardless of where he is from, he's a legend, and clearly two of the greatest think so to.

ALBERT LEE........IS ONE OF THE FINEST GUITARISTS ....IN THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT ....TODAY!
chets runs are always laid back and cool and perfect. James and al just blister it. all 3 legends in their own right.
When Chet comes in on his second verse he does that cascading roll its blows Lee and Burtons solos out of the water!
Totally 💯 Chet according to Tommy Emmanuel is the best guitarist of all..
Honestly I could listen to these guys play all day long. Can you imagine an album by that trio? I WOULD BUY ONE. In my opinion it doesn't get any better, this is top of the line...period! I love how Chet dials up the intensity when he's surrounded by other great players. He was always very competitive in his own quiet way.
LOVE that unmistakable Telecaster twang of James Burton. All their pick'n styles are just too awesome together & individually as well!
Three greats. All different styles but all superb.
I really Love what these guys can do..but when Burton plays..I cry...that guy has the guitar heart and soul of no one i can think of...
James Burton is simply the best.
Absolutely tremendous 👏
My three all time guitar heroes on one stage !
This has to be finger style heaven !!
Wow...wow wow wow three of the kings of nashville guitar...and albert's sitting there like "okay you two just play...i just want to stand here and watch!"

Just putting a comment here because it's been 7 years since one was made!
Absolutely spectacular!
I wish I was enjoying music at this time.
XxX
Wow! Thx for posting. I never would have guessed these gents were ever on the same stage playing at the same time. A true blessing of a clip for sure!
WOW !!! What class...each a master in their own styles....you can always tell that Chet adores great players around him.
I don't normally listen to country but this is just great! It's always a treat to listen to great musicians, regardless of genre. The way Chet blends in jazzy sounds in his brand of country swing is so cool. Can any one recommend some other great player who does that?
Holy smokes - that's a lot of talent!
These guys are/were superstars on steroids, wow....I can watch this all day long and then some!
James Burton use to be Ricky Nelson's lead guitarist and Albert Lee played at George Harrison's funeral. Great music!
Don't know what to say except just awesome! A privilege just to watch all three on one stage!

Have never heard of Albert Lee or James Burton before, but, man, what a trio.
Country guitar royalty right there!
I think I've watched this clip about 100 times...and I've decided Burton's solo is my favorite..even though I think the world of all 3
