I don’t care what anyone thinks, Kim Java and Rich Rebuilds are the only two channels that I would go to for unbiased content. Both of you guys say it like it is, by pointing out facts rather than ending their point of view with “but Tesla is better”. I don’t normally sit down to watch talk shows, but this was very interesting. Thank you both for your time and your input.
Rich is the reason I'm on my second Tesla. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was intrigued and then inspired to buy a Tesla. thanks to Rich. Musk owes Rich a new roadster. No question.
Rich is being charitable about most people lacking the time to dig deeper and understand an idea before dismissing it. In fact, they’re just too lazy to be bothered to even try! They easily dismiss something they’re not used to and can even consider it to be an enemy attack.
At the same time do you really need a doctor to tell you why smoking is bad. As self explanatory as it is, it’s amazing how many mechanics and gear heads smoke like chimneys. People are people.
Rich, if you read this comment, I just want to say you are the person that inspired me to start my own company because i saw you grow into your own niche. Love it!
Ha! Really good interview. I have a C3 Corvette, a ridiculous F350 with a 7.3 and a Chevy Bolt. I love them all. In a way, I don’t have a dog in the fight. I just love cars. The Bolt is my favorite daily driver. The Corvette is great occasionally and the truck is good for truck things. So, yeah there are some of us out there like you, Rich, which is cars first and EV/ICE is a non issue.
The sound of a gas engine is an acquired taste. For many people who enjoy silence, it is like trying to explain the beauty of the taste of a peni$. I am sure there is a group of women and certain men that can appreciate the beauty and get excited about the size. But for others, it really seems like something that I don’t want to get an acquired appreciation for.
I did not get that from Kim's facial expression and body language, seemed like she dismissed anything non EV as ever an option even though Rich was into them.
I love Rich Rebuilds. He communicates well, is smart and very funny. It’s a shame people gave him heat for daring to like gas cars as well. He hit the nail on the head with regard to EVs vs ICE cars. Using a mechanical watch vs Apple Watch is perfect, exactly how I view it in fact.
Thanks for many hours of entertainment and tons of information over the years. Think both of you are icons of the emerging EV universe. Appreciate that you’re down to earth regular Americans. I couldn’t help wondering what your politics are and I think it’s marvelous that neither of you ever go there. It’s none of our business and doesn’t matter anyway.
People seek validation from influencers. Whether buying a phone or car for some reason people come to UA-camrs for validation. Once you leave the echo chamber, you’re the bad guy. Sad reality. Rich seems like a super intelligent guy and his presentation of information is usually digestible because of his humor. Great episode!
I love cars so I have a Plaid and a Z06 and I do as much as possible of the maintenance work myself. You can easily love both EVs and ICE vehicles. For me the EV is the superior daily driver and the Z06 for the track and weekend backroad fun.
I believe Rich has a couple auto shops that specialize in EV service, capturing the market for those early adopters whose warranties ran out and were looking for a more affordable and convenient alternative to those far and few authorized repair centers. Not a Tesla shop but 90% Ev's are Tesla's.
EV market is spreading very quickly now...which is great because it'll drive prices down...I'm just hoping we see the spread of third party battery replacement services become the norm...that alone will have a massive affect on the EV market.
Yes I agree Rich is very well spoken, but she says LIKE so often, I think that highlights just how annoying it is to hear someone keep saying it over and over.
So great to see Rich, together with you, well over due ! Your conversation was great with him. He articulated so well in this conversation, thank you to the both of you ! Love you Kim and Rich !❤
I really appreciated Rich's explanation about his about face from Tesla. turns out it wasn't a complete about face as he started a company to fix Teslas. I also like the fact that he likes ICE vehicles as well as EVs and use cases play a huge roll when deciding on a vehicle purchase. Great Video.
While some of the more EV PC community may not agree with Rich's channel activities (e.g., putting a V8 engine in a Tesla). I think Tesla's senior leadership would appreciate the freedom of thought and engineering competence it displays.
This is a great video! I understand things a lot more now when it comes to loving EV’s and combustion cars and trucks. I fault no one that needs to tow loads long distances and prefers to do it in a diesel pick up truck. I agree with Rich, 100%
Great show, I think I will buy two of his books. One to read during the week and one for the weekend and then build a electric car for every member of my family.
As for me, I like all types of vehicles. Gas, diesel, EV, hybrid, hydrogen. They all have pros and cons, there’s no perfect car/truck/suv. Variety is the spice of life.!
I love Evs, and I'm a driving enthusiasts, overall. but Love Rich and his content, his humour is awesome and having the courage to do his own thing is awesome.
Awesome talk! Here's the main reasons I own a Tesla MY: 1. I'm a technologist and work in IT and I'm a proud geek. 2. It runs Linux as it's main OS. My main OS on my work desk, runs Linux. 3. When I go on a hike or fish in a quiet mountain lake and breath the fresh air, I think what a great thing for my children, and my children's children to have.
Rich as an owner of two EVs (soon a 3rd) and an Expedition you most eloquently stated the beauty that is still found in gas powered vehicles. I love your analogy with Rolex vs Apple Watch.
Had a similar situation with Tesla recently. I want to upgrade my 2021 Model Y suspension to the newer, better design for a softer ride. Asked my local Tesla Service center about this last month. I didn't get a response that it wasn't possible, I was told "we aren't offering that as an option at this time". UM, WTF Tesla. I am willing to throw money at you. Why would you NOT want to take on my request and make some more profit. As a shareholder, I am just shaking my head. So, I'll be going to a 3rd party and giving THEM my money I guess.
I'm still a Rich fan and been to him grand opening of Electrified garage and have even been a customer, I also got rid of my Tesla model 3 and now have a Nissan Ariya and love it. No more long waits or drives for service.
I loved Rich when I first saw his videos. Then the Tesla stuff I started to hate him. Now after this interview I understand, respect and love him again. Thanks
Great Video… OMG Rich Good To See You, it’s been a minute for me, since I’ve watch your channel, I’m gonna dive into the book. Best of luck with Everything…😊😊😊
Great interview. I love Kim’s videos from a mother’s perspective and love rich’s perspective on things and his ability to be subjective. @tesla give rich his roadster he deserves it
Hybrid reigns supreme for me. I have a Prius that has close to 180k miles on it and have had it for 12 years. I've only changed the 12volt battery and brakes, once! It still drives good and with California gas prices, I'm still good with what I pay. I DO have a Tesla but it's not good for long distance commutes on a daily basis. And, I'm definitely not saving money if I have to charge every other day. I would like to try a plug in hybrid to see how that goes. I love my Tesla, but the range isn't there yet.
I have been watching Rich for quite a while now. I think that some people feel that he is not green enough because he made a Tesla into an ICE car. But people can be ridiculous there are still millions and millions and millions of ice cars in the world one more it’s not going to change anything. And when you consider that he has been a tremendous resource for converting ice cars into EVS then you begin to realize how in this transition he is truly valuable.
the hybrid “a good gateway drug” was another great “richism!” quotable ! what a great honest spokesman… for all he touches/does! “comparison of… a Rolex to an Apple watch” is typically insightful… Like many Rich fans I agree Tesla should appreciate his service to the company and Tesla community! … A Relevant honest spokesman/ critic is good to have!
At 20 mins, I believe Rich starts making the point that hybrid electronics/gas is probably the best option. The happy mediaam to have power , improve range and MPG! I BELIEVE DEALERS will go back to the hybrid to met in the middle.
Not just between strictly gas and EVS but there are people that are hardcore about hybrids as they see they are the best of both worlds especially right now with the US not having charging stations Statewide as much as it needs to be
Love it,.EV Rich lol. As a Computer engineer the EV side is what I love the most even tho I love gas cars. But how you mention the love for mechanical parts is what I love about computer chips and circuits. Amazing we have images on our wrist that monitors our vitals and time all while utilizing hardware and software code to control light pulses..
This is a great video! I understand things a lot more now when it comes to loving EV’s and combustion cars and trucks. I fault no one that that needs to tow loads long distances and prefers to do it in a diesel pick up truck. I agree with Rich, 100%
Great video Kim. Prior to this video, I never heard of Rich. I find his take on hybrid vehicle owners was very interesting. Hybrids may be the path to EVs.
Great interview with Rich. I hope he builds an EV trailer that has it's own power train and Tesla creates a platform, then towing won't be an issue and large batteries won't be needed for daily driving.
What an awesome idea, buy a Fisker Ocean, cannibalize the battery pack and build it into a car hauler trailer. Then, when you need to tow a long distance, you have the extra battery pack to extend your trip between charging stations. Brilliant! Rich, are you listening to this guy's idea?
I carry an EVject now, and plan to test it next weekend. 4:29. I like to make long trips occasionally, sometimes driving through the night, and would feel more comfortable about taking a nap at some of the chargers I've stopped at if I had an exit tactic available that didn’t require I stay alert while charging. Never expect to have to break away with it but will be comforted by the option.
I truly believe that we should absolutely have the freedom to choose what we want. Whether it’s EVs or ICE. I have both and I drive both. I love having that choice. Add: great show btw. Engineers are amazing folks.
only people who actually had experienced both could give an opinion about it. Most people who have bad opinions about electric cars don't have any idea about them.
Best video yet from you and PJ! Really nice work on your questions and setting the mood. I felt like I got a much better insight into both you and Rich.
Why would somebody buy a Tesla when they’re falling apart quality control is absolutely the worst. I’ve ever seen in an American car. Once the warranty expires, they could care less about you if you have problems.
Guess what the cheapest car to maintain is?…in both 1-5 year and also 5-10 year periods. www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-maintenance/the-cost-of-car-ownership-a1854979198/
There a car dealer asking 40K for a Fisker Ocean Extreme about 3 weeks ago and I was going to offer them 10K for it but then I noticed it was suddenly sold. I wonder how much they actually got for it.
Ok, I am solidly part of the EV community (I'm on my 8th electric car since 2009), and I'm a HUGE fan of Rich. I don't consider him a sell out at all. The link up we’ve all been waiting for. EV community still rides with Rich. Most of what he has said has been spot on.
The Rolex versus the Apple Watch analogy's spot on. Better than the "microwaving a burger versus grilling" one!
Rich is great, he has shone a light on right to repair issues that affect us all.
Rich is being charitable about most people lacking the time to dig deeper and understand an idea before dismissing it. In fact, they’re just too lazy to be bothered to even try! They easily dismiss something they’re not used to and can even consider it to be an enemy attack.

Or they can do all the digging and find out Riche is always just after what makes him cash and move on to channels that don't have that bias
And they are blinded by their programming. Many not very bright people. They are not able to think for themselves or listen past some triggering words
If you know Rich from the beginning you known him as car guru
I was there! ❤
That's when he actually did good stuff, was a big fan, I rarely watch him now. Too much buffoonry nowadays.
he def lost his bite after he bought that one car just to stunt@@geeb9668
