Thanks for reviewing the Maru for us Shane! Always love watching your videos 😊 we will definitely try our best to work on all the improvements you mentioned about
I like it, seems like a fresh design not really copying anyone, thats a blessing for a diver....be interesting to see if they can improve the flaws for production, if they do that, they have a winner.
There's a lot going on here, but I really like it. The interaction between the indices on the bezel, chapter ring, and face works for me (assuming they're aligned.) Mint green is also a very unique colorway, and I like that there's an option for the minimal text to fade into the background. The handset is also complex in the best way, so I hope they don't change them too much.
I've seen these popping up a lot. It's an interesting looking watch but not quite what I'm looking for. And the lume on the case isn't a positive for me personally. I don't want attention drawn to me in low light. The grid would look better imo as a gentle milled design
The watch seems a bit gimmicky and busy. Luming the sides of the case seems odd especially since you are always looking at that grid pattern. The bezel is awkward to look at. If they simplified the looks a bit it would help.
I like it! I would only change one thing, change the name to Kobayashi Maru. It actually fits _really_ well with the watch. Awesome second first release, I wish them luck!
Thank you for another interesting, well done video. A lot of things I like about this watch such as the specs, dimensions and what I call design courage. Trying to do something new. Bravo. But most importantly - will I lay out some cash and add it to my already oversized collection? Probably not. The reason is it seems overdesigned to me. Just my personal taste. I'm not sure if it's the lume sides or the busy, piano keys bezel.
Shawn, Interesting watch. Love the lume patterns. Lume comparison/battle suggestion…full lume dials. I’m looking for a series of watches with full lume dials (diver, field, chrono, etc). Thoughts?
Fun summer watch, what I would change, take the grids off the case flanks and grid the dial instead, change the colour of the hour markers to match the hand set, change the hand set inner lines to a less simple design. Fit a white rubber strap and it would make that watch pop Great review as always 👍
I really like it and like many, when i see the lumed dial, i get it and i want one. Id even be ok if not everything is fixed as long as the very important one like the misalignments are done properly. But then i look at the price and i change my tune, no sorry you need to fix all the problems and irritant.
Excellent review Shane, I like the other colours better, it's a nice design, definitely needs the lume addressed. It's busy but the clean dial with so little text balances it a little. My concern is the QC. My own company makes precision instruments and if we are having customers test new prototypes, to discover possible issues, the very least we will do is make sure our guages and measurement windows are lined up spot on. Bad line up doesn't bode well for production models. A prototype should really be perfect as far as the visuals are concerned. If they can't bother getting an individually made piece right, what chance does a production line watch have? This watch example is what failed kick-starters are made of. That's a pity, but a prototype wiith no effort put in to getting it right? I certainly won't be tempted to join this one. As for my favourite lume, though not dive watch bright, it's a watch not on everyone's radar a Pulsar Solar Chronograph PZ 5115X, as Pulsar is a Seiko co since the 1970's the slim hands and markers use Seiko's lumibrite, and it's the longest lasting lume I've seen on any Chronographs I own and makes it through the night. However it's not a lume wars contender compared to the wide hands and big markers of a dive watch.
Nah, this will just attract unnecessary attention at night and get you jumped, the size is spot on, the quality looks top notch just not sure what all that lume is all about, if you take that velvet red dial and slap it on this watch with only internal lume this would be a BANGER!!!
If your going to send out a prototype wouldn't you make sure it's spot on ? Thats a missed opportunity and doesn't give you confidence on the final product. Great review mate.
You would think, but it happens a lot. Prototypes are pretty expesnive to make. So I think some brands get to a point where they think it's "good enough" and shows "what they are trying to do", and send those out rather then spend money making another revision. I actually had one brand a long time ago ask me to "photoshop a scratch out". I'm like... 1. I don't do that. 2. It's video... and I don't know how to do that.
After watching I get the impression this one might be rushed to market. It looks cool with either of the larger handsets though, so I hope they can spec it properly
Doood - love the Japanese way to charge up things with meaning. Not sure about this piece, though. The more you stay off the grid, the more pleasant the journey - reminds me of a luminous 5th grade math worksheet 😬! Thoughtful, balanced review, thx 👍 - I'll keep waiting for a true wabi sabi field watch.
The swordfish has used a similar lumed chapter ring for a while now. Although there it's paired with sandwich dial. The bezel seems familiar as well, but can't place it.
@@RelativeTime Shane, NOT "mint" Green per say, though I bet Mint comes in a variety of different hues. This Mint is still too "Tiffany", for my likeing.

I'm gonna agree with this observation and opinion. Well said. 👍🏻
This is a truly original and good looking watch! Love it!

Awesome second first release, I wish them luck!
That’s the same thing I was thinking. 🤣
A watch for a dedicated piano player is what comes to mind. I like the hands and dial. It will l stand out. Thanks Shane

the lume on the side is a head turner. Nice review btw.
The Kazan was a totally alien design. I loved it! 😺

I kinda like it. I don't want to, but it's pulling me in.

I really like this watch.
I personally like red dial a lot.
The misalignment though...
Can I ask why you always have a band aid tape on your thumb?

I have a microbrand watch with lume on the crown and the lume paint has flaked off, very disappointing, the case sides on this may well do the same
Good review. Thank you.

“What an eyesore !”
To quote MOE from the Simpsons when he saw the hope cubic Zirconia
I really like this, very unusual styling 👍🏼
What an epic watch. Great review!

Can we get a Signum Titanium GMT review? Its in prototype soon and its NH35 version destroyed Jodys lume wars! Im thinking of getting the purple!
I currently have the regular version (nh35) on loan. I'll work on getting the gmt next.
@@RelativeTime cant wait for your lume analysis!
Love it!!!
It looks like the entire dial is shifted clockwise. Not promising. The lumed grid is very gimmicky.
I like the design. But it looks like the logo is misaligned with 12 o’clock index, and the bezel is also misaligned.
Yup.. and Yup. 08:30
There’s a Zelos scent all over the place on that piece…. Not bueno…. Too much light noise

Can I be the ONLY person who is Sick & Tired, of ANY Watch with that shade of "mint" ???
Are you talking about all the Tiffany blue watches, or actual mint ones?
@@RelativeTime Shane, NOT "mint" Green per say, though I bet Mint comes in a variety of different hues. This Mint is still too "Tiffany", for my likeing.
i have a feeling it is not going to be funded as well
Yes unbalanced dial and bezel
I appreciate the effort but way to many divers. just another odd driver!
They might not make it…
The Kickstarter?
I just bought the dark blue ikigai maru,🗣thanks to you!
Cool. Hope you like it.
