I love what they did with Johnny's character in this game; he's really matured and grew up. He became a great dad and a pretty good husband. Even after their divorce, he still respects Sonya, it's just that he wants her to also be a part of her family's life and not to be so focused on her job.

Top three things I like about young Johnny
1. He holds the M4 by the hip, meaning his experience with weapons was limited to only his Hollywood flicks. He also has very little “spec ops” training. In most military-esque movies there is usually a veteran training instructor that gives you the basics of soldiering, and I’m pretty damn sure the only thing young Johnny heard was “pull the trigger, gun go ratatatatata”
2. The melodrama he has is that of a teenager. Even after the whole “they shot our face”, the guy had THE BALLS to pick up a tac-shield and ram the Black Dragon thugs while screaming like an idiot. Let’s not forget his ego which ties into this
3. His “innocence”. He thinks this whole damn thing is a well-staged movie production instead of an actual war between a bandanna wearing Chinese monk who is best friends with a lightning guy, and a guy who- after two hits or a shoulder ram, points at you and laughs like a douchebag (Liu Kang and Raiden v. Shao Kahn).
Don’t give me flashbacks to that damn laugh. Shit haunted me as a kid.

Having the tank being destroyed could of been avoidable if Johnny shot the cannon and didn't stare at the plane
rico cruz Dunno if you realize this, but tanks require a separate person to man the turret. The driver's seat is down near the base of the tank, and the turret control area is further back and above that. If Johnny had tried to hop up into the turret, he'd have to leave the tank completely immobile, which would've made it an easy target for the drop ship's weapons. Plus, it's entirely possible that Johnny had never been taught how to operate the loading, aiming, and firing mechanisms for the tank guns.
