Hey guys, sorry for pinning this comment on all videos but I want to give you an update on the channel. I've been slowly adding a show archive to the videos including a full transcript added as sub titles and a full track listing (with links to UA-cam videos for each track). Pilkipedia archive link has been added as well and I've been having fun illustrating some of KP's best bits, I'm adding these to a shop incase anyone is interested: www.man-moth.com/ It's taking me a while to update the archives, especially as I don't work Mondays so please bear with me as I chip away at it. Lots of love, Man Moth.
Top stuff Man Moth, appreciate the dedication.
You're a legend mate thanks so much for these
You are a legend that we all love Man Moth
You awesome awesome man/moth
You had Mondays off until Duncan got involved
I love how they spend so much time maneuvering Karl into saying which bloke he finds attractive, so they can respond with "Ooooooooooohhhh!!"
That but really reminds me of school to be honest. Fuck, marry, kill with all male options then accusations of homosexuality. Classic.
I love how when they've got him, you can hear the collective breath they take as they prepare to go in for the kill.
I looked into the comments right when I realized they were doing this, exactly when they were talking about Zane "Ooooooh" 😍😍😍 lol hilarious
Oh hello
Carl: *says something kinda gay*
Steve: ....yea go on 🤣🤣🤣
Ricky: This isn't a radio show is it? I just suddenly caught myself, this is nothing. This casual way... it's like we have no regard for our listeners. I'm not proud of that, I just don't know what to do about it. I don't know how to do this properly.
Karl: So anyway there was this parrot
For me, this was the best bit in this episode.
to be honest, I'd listen to a lot more radio shows if this was a regular format.
Instead you get standard shite with 'witty' jokes and stupid sound effects, and as Ricky once said "every entry in the radio awards was a 'funny phonecall' ".
At least this is original and authentic. It isn't a radio show, it's just three mates shooting the breeze and making fun of eachother. With us as listener being the fourth friend, getting to know all the injokes, personal stories and even falling outs and insecurities of the guys.
What other radio show has its listeners knowing random acquantainces of presenters? Colin Making, Scruffy Sandra, Jimmy the Hat.
@@omikronweapon Ho-Lee Fuk is a favourite of mine
Put it this way, does anyone even know or care who this Dr Fox is anymore, and are they listening to his reruns 20 years later.
De Profundis Paul Shits the bed
4:50 I love that Ricky and Steve realise at the exact same time they can pull a gay joke on Karl here
HeatyFrog lol everyone sees it coming except for Karl
The funny thing is, this wasn't the only time they played _exactly_ the same joke on Karl.
Ooooooo ello
Washhup with youuUuUuuUu
He hadnt learnt from the Rossy incident had he?
OMG! I've just got the pun!
Get your kit-on ("kitten"), we're off down the butchers.
Genius.
Omg like 8 years of listening, never understood that 😭
Been listening since 2006, never realised that. Fair play
Genius
@@jaker1109 To be fair to KP, he knows a pun.
Same haha. Been listening for years and just got that today!

If this was the only radio show left on Earth, I would be very happy. I find the things they talk about to be far more interesting that any of the boring shite "normal" stations tend to yap on about.
just as i read your comment karl said "what would happen with the sea if it didnt work" i doubt they ever say that on radio 1 xD
Very true. Radio 1 is hipster radio. Often trying too hard to be witty, with dumb games like spitting water (mixed with saliva, I might add) over one another. A concept I personally find utterly disgusting... it's practically spitting. Or it might as well be, the amount of time that water is swilling around in your mouth. Ugh!
Whereas XFM entertains simply by "being itself", daft comments, wild stories and theories, with awkward social faux pas included. That's what makes good radio lol.
That water spitting game is dreadful. It's made worse by the fact that they're so clearly pretending to find the innuendos funny when they clearly aren't. Shit.
Kevin Flemming Radio 1 has been appalling ever since the days of Moyles and "comedy" Dave. Two of the unfunniest bastards I've ever heard.
Yeah, I stopped listening to it eventually. A shame too, as R1 was always on in the past. I loved it back in the 1990s and early 2000s. As time progressed, it just became worse and the overall quality of slots diminished. There were some good bits, but not many. Sara Cox and Scott Mills were okay. Got a few laughs from those guys.
No idea what it's like nowadays, haven't put the radio on for years. Tend to listen to just music and do the rounds with these from time-to-time.
This is the only thing worth listening to on youtube, and this was all recorded pre-youtube, incredible, I love it.
Just wanted to say, Man Moth you have my highest respect. So many hours of entertainment ❤️❤️
Man moth? No, it's a mammoth, you know the big hairy cow from the ice age? What were you thinking of when you heard the words man moth?
@@Christoff070 “Just pictured a moth with a little man head”
Agreed, thank you this is the only thing that helps me go to sleep
What? Where? When? He just lifted them off there.
I’ve listened to so many of these, my internal monologue is like an xfm episode
I’m still listening in 2021 too!!!! Must be my 10th time going through all the episodes one by one
In whose accent? Ricky, Steve or Karl's? 😆
Play a Record.
@@sarahleask2478 for me it’s Karl.
Perfect for doing housework or vacuuming with headphones
Bless Karl's mam for sending in some rockbusters clues hahaha
"I don't see why cat would be any cheaper than chicken". I love it when Ricky says something equally as dumb as anything Karl comes out with (which is often).
31:02 my favourite rock buster of all time courtesy of Mrs Pilkington. Ricky’s laugh just gets more and more higher pitched as he realises what Karl’s said
Ricky, Steve and Karl all think that, at the time, this show was shit......And It was! But that is what makes it so fun to listen to. It's like being down the pub with your mates talking absolute bollocks. That is one of my pleasures in life.....
Jez Creed agreed. I can't really stand listening to other stations where the DJ's all pretend they're having a good time. perhaps they are, but these three just tall about whatever which is why I love it
yes its because it was unrehearsed and unstaged that made it fun to listen to
Cheers Jeff
Proof that honesty and spontaneous is always better than rehearsed crap
@@Christoff070 exactly. everything is so over produced today it’s crap.
These podcasts are the best thing about life.
My thoughts exactly haha
@@omgitsrobsandy what about walk in forest, making delicious meal and eating, meeting pretty girl and relationship, mediation, skydiving, karate, hard work, earning money and spending, sharing wisdom and love with friends, reading Lee Child novel... list goes on...
@@Christoff070 nah I won't be doing any of that, I don't like forced fun
@@omgitsrobsandy I choose to do these things and when to do them. They are spontaneous and unique experience each time, like when you listen to xfm for first time

I love how Ricky regularly goes from being genuinely angry to just giving in to laughing at the absurdity of the stories. But in this episode there's a rare reversal of that, where he starts out laughing and seamlessly changes to "NOR DO I, KARL!" 56:20
I’m American so still learning the various nicknames & stereotypes of you Brits- ‘northerners’, etc which I love learning btw 😂. The way Karl pronounces scousers is a perfect example 😂

I only now just realized that there's practically a formula for Educating Ricky:
"Do you know the saying..."
"Do you know what it means?"
"Do you know how it came about?"
"Well ages ago..."
Genius.
At 55 minutes, when Karl's naming his dad's mates, he doesn't seem to know why 'Jimmy the Hat' had that nickname, while Ricky suggests it was an ironic nickname because he never wore a hat. Then during the HBO show, Karl claims with certainty that it was ironic and because he never wore a hat. Perhaps Karl confirmed it with his dad in the meantime, more likely another instance of his mind transforming a joke that someone told into a historical fact.
Deep lore
"the HBO show"
I JUST realised this as well. I'm sure I've heard this episode at least once before now though.
I doubt very much they did any looking into it, to be honest.
But if that's true then Ricky made it up, and later criticised the reason for the name for being completely stupid? Presumably forgetting he made it up in the first place.
to blaspheme for a second: stuff like this make me wonder sometimes, ever so slightly, if it wasn't staged just a tad more than the boys let on.
At the very least, Ricky got a LOT of his early material for actual money makers from Karl's stories. Including his stand-up. Sometimes he credits Karl in the show or on special frotage, but still...
I'll just chalk it up to bad memories, Chinese whispers and not caring as much as we do (listening to the material tens of times, instead of instantly forgetting it the moment they left the building)
Even Karl mentions relatively often that he already told a story, with Ricky and Steve just egging him on to tell it again for amusement's sake.
He does it all the time. The famous Ken Dodd story with his 'Uncle Hazel' has gone from it was his Dad who made the gaffe to him and back again. Daft Manc.
@@99tubalcain If Sick Of It season 3 has Karl crashing a train or pretending to be a copper to stop domestic violence id love it ;P
I would never have got these the first time around on XFM, and even if I did trying to tune in every week for 2 hours would have been almost impossible. These uploads are an absolute joy.
I love Gervais for everything he brings to the camera or microphone.....except for (shockingly) his mouth-breathing
These radio shows are getting me through working from home whilst isolating
Ditto bro. Been listening for 5 years, but hadn't listened in a good 6 months. Good time to restart #Rona
They're getting me through isolating. I'm not sick just in the head
"We won a bafta, didn't we Rick?"
"Karl, what did *you* win?"
"........I won, Er, a bronze certificate for doin a full week in school one time. An a crusader badge"

"SHARK monday. It's SHARK Monday." Hahaha. Forgot about that bit.
I never heard these originally
I’m going through them episode by episode
Started from the very first one and I’m up to here now ....
It’s like being in a time capsule
I’m so nostalgic to the ( good) music that was out at the time that they play ..
And still listen to of course
Thankyou so much man moth
This is like having a time machine and it’s the best treat ever.
Merchant got Portal 2,,, and he was brilliant :)
He was! I had no idea he was involved so it was a nice surprise when I heard his voice.
I bet he couldn't believe his luck. Money for old rope to read an arbitrary script.
@@AutomaticDuck300 lucky Karl told him the answering message about it and didn't delete this time

Can't believe how long ago this is. Come back guys!
I love how they start literally every show with how crap the show is going to be and how bad they are presenting it...
I love Ricky's Manc accent!

Such a perfect set up 😂
Alex Zane!
"Woshup wi' you?!", B-side of the famous "Woshda'?!" :D

Steve: Right, just bear in mind Karl's listening

Nobody:
Karl: "right, do you know what ____ saying means? aright, ages ago...."
1970’s?
Instead of "Why don't they just get some paper or a diary or something?", he could have said "What do you ink of that then?"
17th century?
Enjoying this again so much ,,ahh the memories,,,,🤗🤭
Dickers!!! Urrrggg Dickie Anderson!!
"Karl retains a lot of knowledge, it's all just rubbish." Lol
he doesn't though, he can't remember even a date.
They should’ve just done a feature called Wind Up Merchant where they just annoy Steve.
He wouldn’t be able to take it
Sometimes Karl gives him a good slagging bit hes scared of Ricky.
"So I was at the Prince gig..."
"It's only Anderson who has seen through us."
Lol.
My favourite two words that Steve says are "Fats Waller"
“Faats Wholler” as Steve says😂
Best educating Ricky titles ever
"Yeah, you should get 'em covered."
Just visited the shop and wanted to say that "DAS LANKEN PISSENSTREAK" is the best T-Shirt ever. Thank you so much for these, I can't even begin to tally up the hours I've listened. Thanks again.
Karl genuinely should be in dictionary corner. His stories would be so much better than the guests they usually have on there.
In the year 2023 Warwick will present Countdown and get Karl on to promote series 2 of Sick Of It.
This has been a ManMoth Prophecy.
Wash-up with you haha love how pleased Karl is when he comes out with his puns!
Ricky loves mentioning the DIXON'S WINDOW.
44:27 - "And, John was a much loved man..." "He was a wanker" "Yeah *laughs* yeah.." "Sooo anyway..that was another story I..." "What can you say, about Uncle John." "Bollocks!" xD
51:15 - "They've got a machine out that does tatoohs...Ermm.." "Ta-oooohss" *laughs*
55:57 - "Paul "Shit's The Bed" xD
Ta'oos!
This episode is Karl's finest hour for me
Fight 'em on the beaches an' that.
Steve about Karl: "He's like the 'Pot Noodle' of information...I'm not nourished by it"
This has to be the best episode of the ricky gervais show ever, it has so many highlights
The tattoo Stan anecdote that begins at 53:40 is one of my favourites from the whole series, hilarious, Karl at his best.
I'm so sad we didn't get Whine Merchant 😂
John the Screw was a mechanic last time!
more like "next time" :P I'm pretty sure this is the first incarnation of the story. Did he work in a prison, of have sex a lot? :P
I thought he worked in a diy shop 🤣
"The web is The New book" : Karl Pilkinghorn
This is the only episode when Karl doesn’t repeat the name of the educating Ricky story. I know Ricky would die laughing at the “get your kit on (kitten) “
Well let's do the jellyfish first, and then we'll move on to the... SCOUserrrs...
Steve's description of Ricky is great!!
R.I.P. Tattoo Stan. May he rest well in the fact that he's been immortalized by Karl.
One of my favourite episodes they ever did. One of the shoddiest shows they did and they were loving it
"Thats good elephants dont forget coz then they wouldnt lose there slippers" 🤣
"bollocks"😂

It's a fly.
It's a bee.
It's a bee.
It's a fly as well.
He's a child.
Ricky’s quickness to defend the homeless man is what makes him so endearing to me. He rarely, if at all, punches down. If his comedy offends you, it is better to look in the mirror, than down your nose.
Yea I'm glad he did coz Steve's take was so insane lol like homeless people aren't allowed to occupy themselves with anything other than job searches? You can't even get a job without a house lol you need an address to apply for most.
Ta'oos
It’s the greatest radio show ever.
3 blokes talking shit and playing tunes.
Karl - “This man liked his wine........Dean Martin”
Steve - “I don’t think anyone would have ever got that”
😂😂😂😂
RIVER PHOENIX is /war a food looking bloke! Stunning..for a bloke
The way steve sets up ricky's butcher euphemism is nothing short of brilliant
Been listening to these for a few years u still are a legend man moth
"Hello, what's your name? Would you like to sit down here?"
MWAHAHAHA
"N'or do I, Karl!"
6:01 Lol that collective breath that Ricky and Steve take when they succeed in trapping Karl and prepare to pounce.
the web is the new book... how much this has come to fruition
Although some people might boast about being around in the time of Mozart or Beethoven, I'm more than happy to claim this.
Dicky Anders was Jonathan Ross - fact!
I think if there was video of these shows people would realize Karl laughs a lot more than they think. You can hear how quietly he laughs in the last 30 seconds when Ricky is talking about Dickie Anders. Not laughing on camera just became part of his schtick later on.
weird innit that 'celebrity squares' did come back, hosted by none other than lil' Warwick Davis!..
Ha! Thanks for sharing!
