Yup figured this out as well on my Aquatic link nano over flow into my 10 gallon refugium. You just have to stop up the flow of water just enough coming into the stupm, so it covers the pipe in the back of the overflow a bit. And violia no air gets sucked in causing noise, if anything just a slight reduction in waist removal. But in my experiene the filter sock removes pleanty still. Solid video, you so LEARN as you go when pluming. Ask me how I know?!
Would you consider doing a video breaking down the sump and how you’ve been able to do it without drilling. I understand I probably need an overflow box but beyond that I’m a little confused.
Here is the link to the first video I posted on this setup. Currently this tank is no longer set up so all I can do as of now is answer questions. Hope this video helps. ua-cam.com/video/Vm9SrIYDrjk/v-deo.html
Damn! Any chance you have a video on it, or the plans for this? I need to do something like this for mine, because the tank is already set up. I cant install a sump that needs a hole in the glass, and all of the options I see are ugly but this is beautiful
Helpful! Didn't think of having to put lid on sump for evaporation consideration!
Not helpful at all

You bring up a good point about evaporation

your stand looks nice too
This is actually how i silenced my diy pvc overflow sump. No air in the overflow also mean more efficient water flow

So into this right now Thanks for the advice. I only have 40lt s tank. Your going bigger lol .
you doing good without a skimmer ?
It's freshwater no need, and I do believe you need the saltwater specificaly to get enough micro bubbles to get it removing waist properly.
What happens when you have a power outage
The pump shuts off, and about 1-2 gallons of water drains to the sump. There is a weep hole in the discharge side drilled at a specific height.
Is it just siphoning that pulls the water out of the tank?
yes, the U tubes are a siphon system
@@epatters1494 so theoretically if the siphon stops would it over flow the tank?
@@thorbradshaw2637 yes, if it lost siphon the pump would overflow the tank until it ran the sump chamber dry, which is only about a gallon.
@@epatters1494 good point thanks
Where did you get everything at ?
Bulk Reef Supply is usually my go to online store.
Do ur lids warp from the heat from the lights, i tried with a thinner cut the plexiglass and it warped
No warping, amd they are led so no heat
but what about all the fish poop on the tank floor bed ?
Thats what fish tanks look like
What about it? Perfectly normal and with good flow will pass and be replaced...its part of the game
