I lived like this for a while in New Mexico. It was horrible. Nobody ever had any money, everyone had tons of ideas, but nobody would actually do anything. I was the only one with a job. When they say 10% of the people do 50% of the work, in these communities it's even less than that. Food was terribly scarce. Most people depended on charity from a church in the nearby town. Water was insanely difficult to find. Nobody ever bathed and they smelled like it too. Trust fund babies would show up to live like this on purpose and as you can imagine they would be quite popular. They had resources after all. I saw a documentary made about the same mesa in 2007. I lived there in 1998. I should mention how preachy a lot of these people are too. Took me two months to escape into town into a normal house. Didn't take long for me to understand human nature in all it's disgusting glory, and the fact most people are truly lazy. Oh yeah, and the artists. Art.....right. Lawlessness. Heck yes, so many thieves. What a crap way to live.

Call 911? There is no phone service, ha. No, your cell phone will not work here either. Someone has to drive to town, then go tell the sheriff, then the sheriff needs to drive out there. That is the only way to get such services. The laws might still exist, but with no enforcement, they might as well not exist.
I never said anything about 911 and grew up in rural areas. We had guns in the home for protection. All I stated is that the law of the land still applies regardless of how far removed a person is from society.
Speaking of people calling bits of rubbish "art work," as a garbage human, I've become aware that this is an entire subgenre of art called, "modern art". In the world of "modern art," a person could literally dry out a turd, dip said turd in bronze (or even spray it with gold colored paint, realistically), and it would be considered a masterpiece, and it's meaning would be deeply contemplated and debated by the world's biggest snobs, for at least the next half a decade!

I lived like this for a while in New Mexico. It was horrible. Nobody ever had any money, everyone had tons of ideas, but nobody would actually do anything. I was the only one with a job. When they say 10% of the people do 50% of the work, in these communities it's even less than that. Food was terribly scarce. Most people depended on charity from a church in the nearby town. Water was insanely difficult to find. Nobody ever bathed and they smelled like it too. Trust fund babies would show up to live like this on purpose and as you can imagine they would be quite popular. They had resources after all. I saw a documentary made about the same mesa in 2007. I lived there in 1998. I should mention how preachy a lot of these people are too. Took me two months to escape into town into a normal house. Didn't take long for me to understand human nature in all it's disgusting glory, and the fact most people are truly lazy. Oh yeah, and the artists. Art.....right. Lawlessness. Heck yes, so many thieves. What a crap way to live.
