Thor is the favorite son. Loki is the petty jealous little brother. Odin is the grumpy dad and Frigga is the peacemaking mom.
@13:25, I’ve heard that this “Unworthy” speech was ad-libbed by Anthony Hopkins. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were speechless and driven to tears in awe.
But to me one of the most powerful and character pieces is when Loki tries to talk and Odin just growls. Who hasn’t seen their parents so mad that they just give them that look like “Shut up if you know what is good for you.”
But more that that I’ve always read the growl to also say “Your brother royally screwed up and I know you’re trifling a$$ talked him into it.”

The Odinsleep is normal, it comes from the comics. Odin periodically has to sleep for several days to regenerate his energies. In the comics it was an annual thing that was part of Odin's schedule. In the MCU it simply happened whenever it happened, they just had to be prepared.
I love your appreciation for historical dramas! I find history to so much more entertaining and fascinating than history class in school ever let on! They do a serious disservice to how amazing human history is by teaching it like it’s a memorize facts and glaze your eyes over boring lectures.

The Odinsleep. Odin used ALOT of power to strip Thor's armor, banish him, AND add the spell to Mthe hammer too. He needed his odinsleep to reenergize. It was emotional af to him to do it as well. Heartbreak added to it. 😢

@31:15, the actress who plays Sif is Jaime Alexander. She was a contender to play Wonder Woman. When that fell thru she became the star of an action show called Blindspot. It was a mix of mystery and spy thriller.

Names like Coleson, Johnson, Williamson etc are derived from the old way of speaking. It’s a conjunction of sorts to make it shorter. Instead of saying Son of Cole hailing from the United States of America, it’s been narrowed down to a first and last name (often including a middle as well). The last name simplifying into Cole-son.

What I love most about this movie it shows a good father's lessons to his son. This is how boys are raised to become good men. To learn very very valuable lessons about being a good man. Yes good father's are tough on their sons but it is done out of love and different from a mother's but still just as essential. Because as you see in the end Thor's father is proud when he learns.
The director of this movie is Kenneth Brannagh, amazing Shakespearean actor and also director. His Hamlet (with Robin williams, Kate winslet, Julie Christie) is AMAZING. Best Hamlet adaption out there.

Yoh! Major, can you please react on Marvel's Agents of Shield after game of thrones. It's a dope show,it starts of slow though as it sets the foundation for other seasons 😊

What a journey! I don't see it in the comments so I will say that during the end credit scene, Fury shows Dr. Selvig a blue-white cube and says it may represent "unlimited power". Loki is in the reflection and yes he has some influence over Selvig to say "well that's worth a look". That cube is the same one you already saw in the first Captain America movie called the tesseract. Near the end of the film it had melted through the floor of the bomber and fell into the sea. Later after Cap "dies" we see a submarine find and pick up the cube, with Howard Stark on board. So the cube did make it back into America's possession.
And of course you learn all about this in the next movie which you have already seen as I write this.

You should check out one of Henry Cavil’s first movies (2002) The Count Of Monte Cristo. Great movie, Cavil has a smaller role but it takes place in the mid 1800’s France. You’ll like it. Great revenge story.

As a kid I loved Thor, Spiderman and Black Widow, As got older it harder to chose but Thor is always number one but I also support the super hero's and villains that are the same country I live in which is Australia. Which is Thor Chris Hemsworth, Wolverine Hugh Jackman, Guy Pearce who will play a villain also Cate Blanchett who will play a villain which is filmed in Australia thor ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder were both filmed in Australia. But in the marvel there have been a few Aussie. Also in the DC Universe Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn

Actually when the MCU started off back in Phase 1, Marvel Studios took the official position that no gods or magic existed in the MCU. Asgardians were officially a powerful and highly advanced alien race with long lifespans (5000 years) who visited Earth 1000 years ago to battle the Frost Giants. The ancient Vikings mistook the Asgardians for gods, and that's how Norse mythology got started in the movie universe.
Since then, Marvel Studios has softened on that stance, acknowledging the existence of magic in Dr Strange, and with Thor: Raganarok Asgardians finally refer to themselves as gods, although they're still from another planet instead of a mystical dimension, and some things are still advanced technology that just seems like magic to less advanced races.
Took the official position? Was there a press release? I remember the line in this film about magic and science being the same thing on Asgard. That doesn't mean all of the other gods are fake.
@@DC3328 it didn't say anything was fake, but Marvel Studios made several public statements about magic not existing in the MCU (just science which was beyond current comprehension) and didn't officially admit to the existence of actual magic until the Dr Strange movie. In Phases 1 &2 it was Marvel's way of placating religious groups whom they feared might take offense.
Likewise the gods were explained away (both in the Thor movies and Agents of SHIELD) as powerful aliens/cosmic beings around whom mythology had been created over the centuries. Ragnarok was the MCU's pivot back towards embracing more of the classic mythology.

@@Cream-2128 yeah they've been backpedaling and attempting to soft retcon things ever since Ragnarok, but some of what was established in Phase I is simply too big to handwave away.

Started watching you for GoT reactions, now I’m starting these and I loooove your love for this movie. It gets shit but I don’t think it’s so terrible. Of the ones you’ve seen so far, Loki and Steve are my faves… my other top ppl you haven’t met yet so I’m gonna reserve but Loki and Steve are def in my top 5.
don't fret about the low number of views, you gotta remember people won't watch you watch it until your invested,. they don't really have the patience to watch the same introduction of characters they've seen 1,000 times,. the views will pick up after the Avengers movie and will explode when you get to Civil War

@24:10, in Norse mythology their gods are not immortal just very long lived. In their theology even Asgard the home of their gods will pass away in time.

Loki lied to Thor and told him Odin had died and that their mother did not want Thor to return. Loki then made a deal with the frost giants to sneak them into Asgard so they could kill Odin, Just before they were about to kill Odin, Loki betrayed them and killed them. This would make Loki a hero in the eyes of Asgard and Odin and Loki would likely be crowned the next king (not Thor). Loki also pointed the power of bi frost bridge to the frost giant world, knowing that power would destroy them, because he wanted revenge on them for being weak and ruled by Asgard and revenge for them seeing him as being a weak baby and leaving him to die and letting Odin take him and raise him.

There is only two seasons so not much to catch up on.
By the way Loki is my favourite character but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 & 2 are my top favourites. Then the Avengers infinity war - Black Panther......I am hoping MCU will branch out and do a movie on the Dora Milaje of Wakanda - that would be awesome.

ALSO pt 2: Odins getting old, they do get so old that they’ll die. It gets explained in the MCU movies
Odin uses a lot of power to watch over the all the realms, so from time to time, he needs to go into the Odin Sleep to recharge his magical/god powers. Asgard had been at peace for a long time so Odin had not felt the need to do the Odin Sleep and recharge his magical battery. Rescuing Thor from the frost giant world, summoning the armor to kill the invading frost giants, the energy to strip Thor of his power, the energy to place an enchantment on the hammer and the energy to banish Thor to earth (and the hammer) drained a lot of Odin's energy, faster than he was expecting.
Heimdall watches over and informs Odin the Odin force just drains him where he needs like one day to rest
@@Cream-2128 Things are different in the MCU. When Odin enters the Odin Sleep in Thor1, Frigga tells Loki that Odin had put off the Odin Sleep for so long and she fears that he will never awaken this time. Odin senses Thor dying on earth (fighting the Destroyer) and starts to cry. Odin senses Thor and Loki fighting on the Rainbow Bridge and goes to them. Earlier in the movie, Odin was able to sense the Frost Giants in Asgard. In Ragnarok, Odin was able to sense Thor and Loki walking up behind him, he was also able to sense Hela coming.
@@xcellent-records Odin being able to sense things doesn’t change Heimdall is the one that watches over the realms and Odin knew Hela was coming because he was dying. Also in comics as well Odin has put off the Odinsleep I mean Thor 1 they also try to say they’re not gods so there is that.
