Beamon's 29-2 can only be described as a miracle, that took 23 years to break and lots of drugs. His Olympic record is probably safe for all times, baring another miracle.

Agreed. His longevity was incredible
@@JumpersJunction I would love to see an 8m+ jump by a 40-year old. It has yet to happen (The current record is 7.77 by Kafetien Gomis at 41). I think Lewis could have done it if he continued competing. There's also Larry Myricks who did 8.24 at 37, and 8.09 at 38, he could probably have done it. Mike Powell did 8.06 at 37. And Kafetien Gomis also did 8.13 at 38.

Thank you! This means alot to me. The idea came because I was coaching and my athletes didn’t know any of the historic long jumpers. I’m gonna be making more like this so check back soon!

It's interesting that long jumps in the 8.80s is almost as rare as long jumps in the 8.90s
Amazing jumpers. My daughter is also a jumper she is 11years old but she jumps for 4.95m.she is 2nd in long jump

What do you think about the two obvious jumps that were not mentioned? Carl Lewis 9m 10 jump in 1982 that was called a foul so it wasnt measured but the board had no mark so it was not actually a foul. however the video remains and its significantly further than his jump over 8.70m a year later you could even match up the two jumps from the video footage and see Carl was well over 9m.
The other jump is the infamous and what should be actual world record. Ivan Pedrosos 8.96m
The event had a stipulation that anyone who broke a world record would win a car as a prize, on seeing the legal jump of 8.96m the organizers decided to say that the wind reading was obstructed and therefore couldnt be a WR , this was a pack of lies so they didnt have to award the prize.
Its the real WR and in many interviews Mike Powell has said that he deems Ivans jump as the real record.
Whats your take? I would love to see a detailed analysis on Carls Indianapolis jumps

Wow! This Video was amazing! When will you predict that someone will break 30 feet? Is that even possible?
Nobody thought 28-feet was possible, yet Beamon just skipped it and went straight to 29-feet. With nutrition and sports science as well as the amount of data available, it’s only a matter of time!
The field records are at a stand still for the last 30 years

At least mens pole vault and women’s triple jump are seeing new records with Mondo and Rojas.
