  • FEATURE LOCATION: The Garden Isle Of Kaua'i, Hawai'i.
FEATURED SPECIES: Hermit Crab (Unauna), Sea Cucumber (Namako), Night Octopus (He'e Puloa), White Eel (Tohei), show and tell: Brittle Stars (Pe'a), Moray Eel (Puhi), Collector Urchin, Squirrelfish ('Ala'ihi), Slipper Lobsters (Ula Papapa), Seven Eleven Crab ("Alakuma), Spiny Lobster (Ula), Cone Shells, Racoon Butterflyfish, Pufferfish, etc.
Fishing the shoreline waters at night in Hawai'i is known as "torching" or "lama lama".
Three Important elements have to line up for this kind of activity: The moon, the wind, and the tide. When you are lucky enough to get favorable conditions in all three conditions, good things happen!
Torching is how my friends and I enjoy spending time with our families. It is a low impact activity and you never know what you will encounter. This is more fun than you can imagine!
Walks on the reef at night never fails to entertain!
