I remember when I saw this movie on TV over 40 years ago. I was just a kid but I absolutely loved it. It's developed quite a following over the years and with good reason: Great storyline, good performances and a fabulous trip through a better time.
Love this song, WOW beautiful. Wish Rex Smith and D. Miller would get together and do a Sooner or Later 2. They get back together because they realize they still love only each other n their mutual love of music. As older adults it would be great. Hallmark Movie. Rex could do the music .
There was two sequel books. The last one after all the turmoil of the previous ones ends with them embracing passionately as she is about to leave on a Bus, but you never know whether she got on the Bus or not.
I'm 54 just discovered this guy and the movie. However, I do remember hearing some of his music on my AM transistor radio. Makes me feel like a kid again.
Beautifully done! This video captures the essence of "Sooner or Later" and the sweet promise of first love. The song that accompanies it is one of Rex Smith's best!!!!!
Nice video! I discovered the album “Sooner or Later” at a yard sale in 1980 when I was 11, and played it a million times, learning all the words and singing along. I never even knew a movie existed until I looked up Rex’s songs on UA-cam a few years ago. I rushed to buy the movie and fell in love with it instantly of course, watching many times over. Such great songs, such a sweet love story, and God, Denise Miller... who wouldn’t fall in love with her? Those eyes!
oh I didn't find it really..Rex wrote this song while he was in the Philippines back in 2009 or so. The Philippines just love "Simply Jessie" so Rex being the awesome guy he is..decided to write a special sequel to "Simply Jessie" :)
+Carol Winner I had no idea the song existed. I have always wanted the Hart's to write a final book.... to "put a finish on it". This song completely fits the ending I would love Michael and Jessie to have. Would be so cool to end their love story with a book about them 30 years later.
yeah that would be awesome! but very doubtful that will ever happen Bruce is no longer with us and Carole is up there in age...unless someone could gain copy rights and write one :)
Hello Judie! yes it's a sweet song. Rex wrote this song while he was in the Philippines years ago for the his Filipino fans cause they love "Simply Jessie" so much over there. It's kind of a sequel to "Simply Jessie" Glad you liked the video. Oh by the way, I am Carol Winner from Facebook just so you know :)
Well that would never happen as far as a sequel to the movie...if there was ever gonna be one, they would have done it shortly after the original. Cause Rex's fame took off...so any talk of one was cut short. And as far as Denise doing anything with Rex is kind of hard cause no one knows what she is doing or where she is these days. It's a mystery. Anyway ...No I wouldn't mind you requesting me at all. I always enjoy connecting with fellow Rex fans :)
Debra, the movie ended with "Michael" telling Jessie that even though their age difference was a issue, he loved her and wanted to give their relationship a try...and ending that I and assume most didn't expect. making this movie endearing and steadfast in our memories. btw You can buy this movie on DVD at Amazon....and if you happen to be a Rex Smith fan? please visit Rex's facebook page!

Yeah it's because when Rex recorded it , he was in the Philippines. He wrote it as a special gift to his Filipino fans because they love "Simply Jessie" so much. The only way you can possibly get it is if you get lucky enough to go to a Rex event, and he may be selling the cds with that song on it along with other Rex songs, after the show.

Every high school boy at the time had the hots for Denise Miller. She so reminds me of the girl I should have dated in high school had my parents not moved several states away. Sadly, both she and I lost contact until a year ago, and while we are not together living happily ever after, we've both married decent people after failed first marriages each and have developed a very close friendship. The funniest part is she lived a few blocks away from me when we were kids, and it was the one street I was not allowed to go on! My mother was a control freak!

No sadly Rex hasn't stayed in touch with her over the years, but he does talk fondly of his memories working with her. The first one was a short session where he talked a little bit and then answered a few questions. The second being more in depth about his experience on set and stuff. He happened to be in Tokyo at the time, but wanted to do something special. He mentions Denise more. I think you will enjoy them. Yeah it seems Denise has done her best to stay out of the lime light. Not much just a few youtube videos of her in various shows she did. there is an old video of her being interviewed, where she talks about doing Sooner Or Later and working with Rex, its cute.I will try to post that once I fine it...Oh that featured song on this video, is a song Rex wrote himself, its like a sequell to "Simply Jessie" he sang in the movie.
