- Using trail cameras is vital to being able to find wildlife and learn animal behavior and patterns. This part 2 of my series where my goal is to find and photograph animals such as bobcat, coyote, black bear, fisher, and fox in the Northeast forest. If you missed Part 1 use the link below to get yourself up to speed!
Part 1:
• Photographing Elusive ...
In this video I am out retrieving the SD cards from the two trail cameras that I set up in Part 1. I also have two more trail cameras that I am going to set up in another area of the property. Trail cameras are a great way to find animals you are trying to photograph and also assist in learning animal patterns and behavior. Both of these things are really important to this project because I am trying to look for areas where I can eventually set up my Tragopan photo blind to capture photos and videos of these well hidden mammals. As I hiked out to the location for my other cameras, I caught a glimpse of my first target species for this project, the eastern coyote. I was thrilled to be able to get a short video of this species so early in the project! The snow on the ground also allowed me to use the tracks in the snow to find areas where the wildlife appeared to frequent, including finding black bear, coyote, white tailed deer and bobcat tracks in the snow. I will leave the trail cameras out for another 2 weeks to see what animals I can capture on video. Throughout the video I share some tips on setting up trail cameras as well as my observations in the forest. Thanks for watching!

Brilliant idea to see where these uncommon mammals travel thru the habitat. Awesome.
Thanks for watching!
Todd., this was so AWESOME!! The coyote video was AMAZING and the Bobcat…Can’t wait for the next visit to the cameras…
Thanks for watching! It was a great unexpected encounter! The next part of the series will be in a few weeks. Going to try to compile a good amount of data and footage in different locations!
I'm learning about trail cameras right along with you, Todd. Thanks.
It is a great way to learn the behavior of animals! Thanks for watching!
Awesome catch the Bobcat.thats better than most people see of the bobcat in a lifetime. Your blessed. That's one of my top animals I want to photograph.
Thanks! They are definitely an animal that I want to be able to find and photograph. I have seen them a few times but they have always been short encounters. I am hoping that this project will help discover some of their habits and patterns to be able to observe and photograph them more. Thanks for watching!
Great Video! Amazingly good first video for your new setup and locations! Amazing! Looks like you're going to have a Great Opportunity for some Great Photos when you get your blind setup.. Good Job!!
Thanks for watching! That is the hope! The next part in the series will be in a few weeks after I compile a good amount of data and footage in different locations!
Great video
Thanks for watching! I really appreciate the comment!
Thanks for taking us along! Do you mind sharing what cameras you use? I’d like to set some up on my property. I have seen bobcat, deer, red and gray fox, grouse raccoons and even a fisher!
Sounds like you have a great property to see some things. I am using the Bushnell Trophy E3 camera. They are great and durable cameras. The ones I am using are actually being loaned to me from a friend who used 35 of them for her grad project to monitor coyotes. They were out in the woods for over three years and only 3 or 4 of them stopped working so they work really well. Thanks for watching!
