With an electronic iris controlled camera, switching thrrough a dark mode, between different lights is the ABSOLUTE WORST REVIEW METHOD anyone can ever give, but this idiot thought he was a brilliant scientist, doing exactly that. The correct method, when having an electronic iris controlled camera function is to "firstly" AIM each & every light, individually - into the exact faraway distance as possible, on ANY high beam fitting, before doing the actual "comparison testing" and THAT in & of itself, should ONLY EVER "be done" by turning each "slightly brighter" lights on ONE SET AFTER THE OTHER, meaning that initially "sidelights" only, then DIP, then normal high beam - then the first set of additional lights (in this idiots case, they are the five roof lights) then finally, with ALL high beams ON, turn on the two 9" spots. That is the ONLY way to compare, then select DIP (as if a approaching car's dipped headlight's appear) to immediately extinguish all high beam (driving and spots together) - such that we can immediately see the drivers different light sets, between ALL ON and dip, then returning to al on from Dip- gives the maximum of all aux lights over and above normal main high beam. NOW and only now, does the reviewer, operate a "switch normal main beams off, while keeping the main beam selector on, with only the AUX LED LIGHTS, to thus show what the direct difference is, with main beams off, vs LEDs off & MAIN on vs LEDS on, & all on and dip only. Being a complete dickhead, by turning OFF various lights to allow the camera iris to open wide, before we get that blinding glare of any light, until the camera refocuses, does absolutely nothing for a comparison, as sadly dicko's own eyes see what his difference is, leaving the viewer to put up with the camera modifying what we see, blinding us every time he goes via a "no light" (all off) period. Hopefully in the 6 years since he uploaded this one, he makes new ones better (but I doubt it) .
Gene Mall, thank you for this video. I've been searching for a clear, concise video demonstration of these lights, by a mature adult, without all the ridiculous music, the silly jokes, and all the rest of the crap that so much of today's youth seems so intent on producing. This video is great, it gives us just the pertinent information that allows the consumer to make an informed decision. Keep up the good work.
Great product introduction with actual usage. I recently installed a set of driving Nilight 18 watt units where my stock units were once located. As per my local DOT I need to make sure I set them to 4 feet or less at 25 feet distance from a wall. Once I get them set I will do a product intro, and after a bit of time I'll release my review after 6 months or so. For those that wish to do a "thumbs down", feel free acquire and open a channel to provide your own perspective. ;) Thank you Gene for providing this informative content. :)
Awesome video! Im gonna go ahead and order 2 7in floods and 2 9in spots for my ranger edge. Seems like and awesome deal for an offroad combo! Ill post some gopro footage once i get em
Your video is excellent ! In the future PLEASE secure the lens cap or whatever sounds like BB's rattling around in your camera. Ruined the 1st part of the video for me. I own the very same 9" LED lights as on your push bar. "Each light" draws 3 amps (3.082) per light. I measured them using my Fluke 89IV meter. Thanks for a great review!
I am thinking about mounting 4 of these 9 in lights under my sprinter roof rack above the windshield. That be be some "Sasquatch lights" ha ha but seriously, I'm going to do it
Do they make infrared or photon multiplier system with hud projector for dimly lit driving? Would not be nice? Color quite irrelevant, silhouettes with good contrast is sufficient.
But I'm talking about that light bar you have those mounted to! Gene, if you see this, where'd you get that? I've found XRC for JK but unless I missed something, you have a JL?
I have some aftermarket foglights on my steel bumper, if I were to get the 7" 51w lights do they have a quick connect or do you have to manually connect some wires yourself?
Hello Gene. I think we think alike our jeeps color theme is very close. I watched the Nilight video and I have already purchased them. What I would like to know is what and where did you get the mounting hardware for over the window. The side panels and the cross beam. Can you direct me on this?
Are your roof floods different than your spots physically? I got a set of each and they are both different, floods are beefier (black heat sink) than the spots and the mini reflector around each led are also different. Not hooked up yet but will let you know my results? How are they handling road debris and bugs? Thanks great informational! video
@@fasthog96 it you look closely at the specs and pictures with the dimensions you can see that the floods are deeper and heavier. Probably an updated version.
Probably in series, given the weak output - but then again no one can tell the difference as the "tester" turned other lights off, between various light comparisons, meaning that the camera auto iris opened with no light, to revert down until we ONLY see the brightest as if the same as anything previously shown, not one over the other, which is how a true comparison is done.
Based off your review I'm definitely going to get these. Quick question though. For the 7" lights, should I get 2 spot with 2 flood lights, or should I just get 4 spot lights since they operate like spot/flood hybrids?
Lol, you sound like Ted! Great review, I might pick some up once I get enough...but next time try to focus the camera on the light rather that the window or the hood.
@@fasthog96Mr Mall... Please can you do an update.. I car camp in my Prius.. I just picked up a roof rack with integrated T track and I want to improve the poor lighting for country camping and trails
Easy! all lights on the same ground, all positives connected to the same power wire from the switch. Basically you're splicing all the + wires in a row and running ONE wire to the switch.
you could run everything through one switch, but i would suggest to use relays. I googled and it looks like normal LED toggle switches can run 20amps at 12V, that is 240w (U x I = P, 12V x 20A). Also the volts drop the further distance the electricity has to travel. If you use 12awg wire and you use 16feet of wire, the current would drop 1v witch means you lose 20 watts (U x I = P, 1V x 20A). If you have 5x50w lights they will not use they´re full potensial, the lights get 220 watts in stead of 250w as they should. The relay will shorten the distance, get as much current through as the lights need, and is easy to install. A relay gets turned on by an electrical signal, so you can wire the lights to turn on with the headlights, really convenient on the road. Great review by the way! Greeting from Norway
184 watts in reality these are maybe 30 watts each. Get a ammeter and test the current. Only way to verify. Never EVEr trust the claim of China. However, good review.

By far one of the most comprehensive and to the point light reviews Ive watched!! Specs are cool but we gotta see those results! 🤘

Great video and review. An asset to UA-cam.

Hahaha! wasn't the lens cap it was the damn strap rattling on the camera! Argh! I took it off
Them big lights is the best but them small ones dont stand up to the weather I had them kind on my truck

Those lights on the roof look nice. Better than the light bars everyone is running these days.
The shop that outfitted my jeep didnt install the led front covers- do you think thats an issue? Should i ask for them? Great review
Great video! I was debating on these or the light bars. You made my choice a lot easier. Thanks!
Do they make infrared or photon multiplier system with hud projector for dimly lit driving? Would not be nice? Color quite irrelevant, silhouettes with good contrast is sufficient.
Yes they do, but at $990,000 USD it's above my paygrade
I can't be the only one who watched for 17 minutes to see all the lights on together only to be disappointed
Loved the video. Great lights.

I liked your review👍. I am definitely thinking about using these spot lights as fog lights for my f150.
just ordered 2 sets of the 7 inchers going back and ordering a set of the 9 inchers to
I would order an extra set of covers and hit them in lens yellow paint and swap them out once in a while
I have some aftermarket foglights on my steel bumper, if I were to get the 7" 51w lights do they have a quick connect or do you have to manually connect some wires yourself?
I kept hoping you would turn all the lights on at the same time instead of tops then fronts then tops.
I could have but it wouldn't show very well on cam
I did enjoy the video & glad you did the review!

How did you wire the ones on the roof together, I'm thinking of doing 4 on one switch
How have these held up to the years? Sun, water, dirt
Great review, you have described these lights well.. thank you very much
Good review man! How are they holding up since this review? I might do the same type of set up for my f350 roof rack.
Hi do you have the link for the lights on the roof and also the light bar. Very nice review!!!!
Nice video thank you man!
Badass set up
How did you wire them? what is the wiring harness that you used? if you can share that information, it would be helpful.
How many wire harness or switches you have on the top 7" LED LIGHTS
Are you not able to have the large 9's on with the light bar on at the same time?
I can yes, but it defeats the purpose. One is a "thru the woods" light the other is a long range spot beam.
Are your roof floods different than your spots physically? I got a set of each and they are both different, floods are beefier (black heat sink) than the spots and the mini reflector around each led are also different.
