Great video, been there myself in OBX same spot. For all the folks talking trash on this thread, they don't seem to understand its does not take much to get your boat sideways and then you capsize or take on so much water you are putty much finished.

I often cross a stretch of water that is not to dissimilar to this. I insist that all occupant wear a life jacket, each with its own locator beacon. In addition I have attached to my jacket a portable VHF waterproof radio, an LED distress flare that is to bright to look at and a packet of sea dye marker. I have no issues with taking risks but I do all I can to ensure no one dies if it all turns to shit

Nothing but respect for that Oregon inlet fleet. I take charters out of there often and it can be a ass Puckering experience getting out of the there lol

Hatteras and Ocracoke inlets can get just as nasty with a SE swell, what people fail to get is that when these inlets get bad, no sane person goes out of 'em. (And the Coasties are nucking futs!)

What does the measurement on the left that keeps changing indicate?

    Try Jupiter FL inlet.

I've never been to Oregon inlet, but I frequent jupiter. Once out of Jupiter if you go north or south right away you can avoid alot of the crap. Not sure theres that option here.

Na buddy trust me Oregon inlet is one of the roughest on the east coast. Only 7or 8 ft of water in the channel on a good day w shoals on both sides. Outgoing tide runs @6-7 knots and stands the waves straight up . We bump bottom all the time when the bow is up on a wave in that hell hole ! Carolina customs look the way they do with the huge bow flare for a reason !!

LOL. Outrageous is the name of the Boston Whaler we were in. 🤣🤣. Inlet is shallow and constantly shifting coupled with an outgoing tide with NE winds made it crazy. The 60 footer in front of our 32 footer stuffed his nose through the same waves going out earlier that day( we did as well but it was dark at odarkthirty. 😭😭.
