Deck Seaman and rescue swimmer, '83-'86, Group Monterey Small Boats (41'and 44' qualified), these videos bring back good and scary memories of some of my proudest days. We also trained for rescues with helo opps. Great to be able to give family and friends a look into my USCG years, as few people have any idea of what we do . My deepest respect and admiration for today's "shallow water sailors ", the world's a much scarier place now and still young people step up . Semper Paratus, the fewer, the prouder, the Coast Guard.
Great video! It's good to see Big "T" still playing out there. I was stationed there from 2006-10, and I do miss it. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there.
I swear this video is the most fun anyone can (legally) have on UA-cam! Excellent production work to create this incredible viewing experience. And thank you, Coast Guard, for working so hard to keep us all safe!
Around 1997 off of Newport Oregon near the Stonewall banks we broke down in a 50' salmon trawler named the Cherokee Son (Das bug). The Victory 52312 came out to tow us in to Newport. I see the Victory, Invincible, Triumph and the Intrepid are all "laid up" and their fates are undetermined at this time. Im so sad.... I hope they at least make it into a museum or some kind of public display. These MLB 52's stayed in service for 50+ years for a reason. The lives saved on the 4 boats i mentioned alone are almost incalcuable. The men and women of the United States Coast Guard are rock stars and straight up heros in my book. Thank you.
Hey "Coasties" Thank you all for keeping of us sailors safe! BTW- nothing like this on the Chesapeake Bay. Looks like your sinus cavities get a pretty thorough rinsing out there. Nothing like a little (or a lot) of salt water up the ol' schnozz to clear things out! Lewis and Clark were disappointed their canoes couldn't handle it.
At 2:20 (2011) MOB Practice dummy gets tossed over the side...........waiting............ Still waiting........ 2919.....USCG MOB Practice dummy picked up outside Tokyo harbour.
I am #443 and am in the vid a few times. 1:08 is me facing driving, all of the 52' footage from 3:11 on is me driving, and then at 3:38 high fiving because of what we did at 3:46. the last shot of the 52' squaring up is me also. I thought we were going to get tossed......thanks for the comments everyone!!!
Great video. I was in Chatham Mass. in 2019 hoping to get a few pictures of the 47 footer. Sadly,it’s too shallow for it there. I have a rc model of the 36’ and 44’ from there and wanted to do a 47 from there as well. Did the 42 NLB go through testing at Cape D? Also, I’m sure the black eyed peas would approve of the video. Take care of yourselves and stay safe out there. 🍻🌲
Awesome. I love it! Yes, I am crazy enough to do it too! USCG Small Boat SAR BM2 & Coxswain of 41 UTBs but didn't get a chance to operate as Coxswain of 44 MLB back in the 80's (Cape May India 114). Was the first female BM, Coxswain & Federal Maritime LE Boarding Officer I was aware of at the time in the early 80s. Ran SAR for 4+ years in Alaska, Florida & California then on to Law Enforcement PD. How I wish I would have stayed in to get to Cape D for heavy surf training and on one of the Polar Icebreakers! So, you young Coasties, stay in, experience all that you can because down the road you are going to kick yourself for not trying for those fun units! You have many years ahead of you so Just do it! You won't regret it! Semper Paratus all the way. Oh, Happy Birthday Coast Guard on August 4th!
I was born a water baby, meaning I was meant to be a mariner. Ilove deep water and the challenges it presents, while recognizing mother nature is in control! Help the helpless is my motto!
Man O man does this video bring back memories wow I was stationed there in 1969-1971 but we didn't have fancy boats as you have now but did have the Triumph still going strong I see along with the 44309 44304 and an old 40 ftr., and surfer drills on the south jetty what memories . and NO women
Hotel 114 Alameda California....1977.. boot-camp .Welcome to the hotel California, I'll never forget it.........I shoulda went to whitewater school. Proud to be a Coastie...Semper Paratus...Always ready baby...!! I ended up going to school at Governors island N.Y. and became an ET....
The Black Eyed Peas thought they were losing money or something? I hope they all go down on a mega-yacht someday wishing the Coast Guard was there to save them. If they were good people, they would have donated the track. Deleting two albums from my iTunes....now.
I have been a licensed Merchant Mariner for over 25 years. Thank you USCG for watching out for all of us out on the water. You all are awesome!
10 years in the Marines love me some Coast Guard thanks for all the hard work USCG always there when we need you awesome
Thanks brother, and we will always be here to shuttle you beautiful green sona bitches to the beach’s any day.
I'm nearly 60 years old and The Triumph has been at Cape D since I was a little kid. Love the USCG!

Old USAF type here. Nothing but respect for the USCG. Thanks for being there, folks.

Awesome. Thanks for the ride! You people are heroes. Thanks for your service. 💖🇺🇸
Simple Apparatus keeps us alive & well. Thanx Coasties.....
Great GoPro action, well done from a former Coastie BM3 who spent many a night at Cape D on TDY from Station Portland.
Retired Coastie here. Nice video!
Badass! Starting my journey to become a Surfman!

Cool and the jackets are really nice!!! Way to go Dana!
Miss this place....
Good stuff. Thank you. Semper Paratus
This looks fun as hell and also terrifying.
It was fun . . . . . . Until my first 360 degree rollover. Something I never repeated for the remainder of my career, thank goodness for small favors.

MLB Triumph. USCG Cape Disappointment 2001-2006
Great video. Nice work.
I am trying to share on my facebook, but I am having problems. Does this video have some kind of protection barrier? Thanks
Crewman on a MLB in Coos Bay, miss it.
Awesome GoPro footage!!

Coxswain qualifed as a surfman much respect out there
Hats off to the Coast Guard heroes at the Columbia bar who continue to save lives in this dangerous area.
I made it halfway and couldn't take that music anymore..
I was born a water baby, meaning I was meant to be a mariner. Ilove deep water and the challenges it presents, while recognizing mother nature is in control! Help the helpless is my motto!
Ahhhhh the 52's. Last of the great lifeboats left in the WORLD! Surfman #115.
Surf school looks like a easy day a Cape D
God bless those men
And women...
Keep door closed at all times while at sea. Stay safe people!!
Oh you missed the triumph!! The good ole days!!!
The Triumph is back in action at Cape D.

The music is fine, that's what we do as Coasties, we always hope it will be a good night and we will make our mission.
Awesome!
Oh YAAA👍🏻🌊👍🏻🎥👍🏻 Go COAST🇺🇸GUARD
I gotta feeling this training was anything but a "Disappointment" for the crews. ;-)
Much better music video than the original that goes with the song.
badass!
Those 52's look a lot more stable than the 44's I ran in R.I.
Looks like fun!!
Love it!

Wild :), love it!!!
what's the purpose of throwing the dummy out there?
+ImReadyD151 Man overbord training, then you navigate though the surf and retreive the " OSCAR"
Grant Higgins cool stuff, thanks for the info

+CapnSchep Bravo 109 USCG TRACEN Alameda, California 1976. I'd do it all over again. Semper Paratus!
If I had known what they were going to do to this country I would have stayed in for 18 or 20 years !! Semper Paratus ...!! Simply Forgottus LOL ..!
+CapnSchep Oscar/Charlie 98 Alameda 74'
You Oscar guys got my total respect ...!!
Rick Davis You Oscar guys got my total respect ...!!
Looks wet. I think I saw a renegade that still "rides" the waves. God bless.
Very cool🇱🇷
Get rid of the music and let's hear the engines
OK, Coasties, what happened with "Oscar?" His mother wants to know why he don't write, anymore!
Never had a chance to run the Triumph.
into the green room we go....
That looks like fun.
The Black Eyed Peas thought they were losing money or something? I hope they all go down on a mega-yacht someday wishing the Coast Guard was there to save them. If they were good people, they would have donated the track. Deleting two albums from my iTunes....now.
step one mute lol love you coast guard
Anyone else catch that man surfing out in a kayak?
I wanna try this 😁😂
Let's hear the noise of the sea, of the engine, of the people. Like that, it has almost no interest...
How can you find more annoying music?
I have the highest regard for the US Coast Guard!
The Hoodlum Navy
The music makes it unwatchable.
Poor Oscar! Hahaha
I think that song was meant for the navy....😂
I'd rather be in a 44 MLB before GPS. Kids these days have it too easy.
Before they used Motor life boats.
When ships were wood and men were steel
MLB 30201 MLB 44409
MLB 44376 Tillamook bay
Not for weekend sailors.
ha....minute 2:38! It will be a while before there is a better surf drills video than this!
BZ
it would be okay without the music. That music is awful.
Great footage........lame music.
Gay music..
Herb-encrusted tilapia twit!
Yeah, but gay like Justin Beiber gay, not gay like Freddie Mercury gay.
Audio killing a great video. Simply awful mic work makes it even harder to tolerate.👎👎👎
Just deep six the music. Terrible.
Could have done without that lame ass song. Great vid tho
Ditch the stupid music--such a bunch o' scuz-buckets.
Nice video
