Magic Johnson is quite possibly the most class act ever. When he said he planned to live for a very long time, younger folks just can't understand how courageous a statement that is given the time. This was a sad day. See we thought it meant eminent death well Magic showed is different. Kobe was 13 when this happened., 28 years later he is gone and Magic is 60. Wow! Life
This was a landmark announcement, not just in sports, but in life. This completely destroyed the negative stereotype that HIV is a gay man’s disease. This brought awareness that it is a fully transmittable virus, both sexually and by blood, among heterosexual people as well. I can tell Magic was choked up by this, because announcing you’re HIV Positive is devastating, but he fought on and lived, and is fully undetectable.
I pray you find the strength to tell those closest to you so that they can support you and love you through this. You are not alone, many people have went through this and made it through and remember you may have HIV but it doesn't have you. Don't let it define who you are. God bless you. And I know I don't know you but if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here

@omegahunterx I'm not disagreeing or starting an argument, just curious; what is your source that HIV has been in humans for 100 years? Last I heard, the first case was traced back to the 40's.
Nikita Davis wow lol of all the things you could've pointed out you point out that he wasn't married at the time. Married or not they were in a relationship leading to marriage (that sounds pretty serious to me I don't know about you). It's almost as if you're diminishing the severity of his actions. Well he wasn't actually married so... That doesn't even matter. Bottomline is he stepped out on his partner (which by the way just so happened to be his soon to be bride carrying his child). Doesn't matter what title she carried. Maybe before you reply to someone's comment you should think about if what is coming out of your mouth is even worth mentioning. Just a thought.
There's no substance to that claim. Magic Johnson is a multi-millionaire whose always been able to afford the best medical treatment, and the quality of that treatment has advanced a great deal since the early '90s.
I'm 38 & grew up thinking HIV or AIDS was an overall death sentence. That was until 2014 when an extremely close family member of mine was diagnosed due to being sexually irresponsible. My father in law passed away from HIV related pneumonia as well. He sadly didn't learn of his diagnosis till it started physically affecting him & by then it was too late for the meds to stop the damage. He passed 6 months before I met my husband.
I was only three when this press conference took place but seeing Magic on pregame shows for TNT and whatnot, has really peaked my interest. I just hope that people viewing this video who have HIV/AIDS know that life does go on and you have much more to contribute to society.

who knew the great magic john son would live longer than kobe bryant. Stay stong Magic!!!! this announcement changed my life, i thought he would die no more than 7 years later and hes still here and STRONG! RIP KOBE
Yeah. I almost flat lined when I read her comment. Thanks for caring about her enough to respond. I wasn't going touch it! Lol
So sorry to hear that
I was only three when this press conference took place but seeing Magic on pregame shows for TNT and whatnot, has really peaked my interest. I just hope that people viewing this video who have HIV/AIDS know that life does go on and you have much more to contribute to society.
"Stop bringing that miracle of modern science to my games!!"
I was in middle school during this time and remember thinking that in the next few years that Magic would wither away and die. I just turned 32 and he is still going strong. Thank god for that.
Now you're 42 and I'm reading your comment at 35. I'll check this again in 10 years and give you a follow up :)
@@lucid1111😊
He’s a rich athlete he had the best treatment in the world.
God bless Magic for staying strong through this all
I remember when this happened, I was in school. It’s been 35 years, I just can’t believe the time, let alone the fact he’s still around.
Magic Johnson came to our High School last week!:D
He's a strong man
@omegahunterx I'm a lil' curious about your opinion. What facts do you have to proof that HIV has been around for thousands of yrs?
I remember where I was in high school when I first heard about this. Scared the shit out of me at the time. Seemed unheard of.
God bless him and his family
God I love this guy
Nope because he is still here and he really enjoyed life, he is still enjoying and he will enjoy until he die old.
I respect him so much, glad he's doing well despite such a complex virus.
