I had a sudden issue with starting that indicated that the Datatool alarm was not responding to the remote signal. No flashing red light, beeps, indicator flashing etc. This video has solved the problem. Bloody blinder as I am off to sunny Cornwall next week. I binned the alarm. Many thanks for this fix.
Just done this to my 2015 Street Triple. Works a treat. Before the mod my starter motor would not run when the button was pressed but the ignition and alarm functions looked ok. Suspected it was the alarm and this mod proved it: Brilliant video, thanks for getting me out of the poo.
Thanks, gave me the confidence to remove my faulty unit from my 09 speed triple, no more going off in the middle of the night for no reason. thank you again. :)
Awesome! Will be doing this to my 675 tonight. My datatool got cooked on the way to Snetterton Monday just gone. Was fuming that I didn't get any track time because of it.
Hi just done this , takes about 30 mins, recommend put alarm into Winter setting, ie Ignition on, kill switch on but not started engine, press both button on alarm for 10 secs till it Beeps once, then for ease remove battery, the panel Jon shows has two hex body panel screws and 4 11mm bolts, shrink black plastic rubber your biggest headache, stanley knife and some long nose pliers was my answer, bought bypass on ebay for £17 , removed alarm as after 6 years it failed and would regular go off at 02:00 AM , it is I believe internal non replaceable battery issue , so removal the only option if you want household to sleep !!!
Did you need to disarm the alarm or do anything with it before you did this? Mine has it's internal battery flat and it doesn't do anything when I press any buttons on the remote.
@@big_rig6446 I read that you can disarm with a code using the ignition, but I did not have the code. Luckily enough, my bike did not have the immobiliser connected to the datatool alarm and I just cut the whole thing out. Anyway, during your work with the alarm put a sokaing wet towel on the alarm itself to "turn the volume down". After a minute all the neighbours were out, checking what exactly I am thinking...
The plugs are around £25 on eBay, but I purchased one directly from my Triumph dealer for under £5. No need to permanently cut any wires - and the alarm can remain in place should there be a need to reinstate it again. The auto-arming Datatool in conjunction with keyless ignition is REALLY annoying...but now my keys can remain safely in my pocket 🙂
hi mate, I have the Triumph bypass plug in hand. Do you know how to disassembly the alarm? I want to use it on another bike. And, do you know what status of the alarm and bike be set before I unplug it, Like switch bike on / off, armed, or disarmed? Thanks.
@@AS-gp4fx I’m no expert…but cut the heat shrink from around the connector and disconnect. Unclip the strap holding the alarm in place (assuming there is one) and free all the wires. I recall there being several that weren’t connected to anything. I disarmed first and had no problem with it…hope you manage to work it out👍
Thanks mate, i have a vfr800 with the same alarm, the little white plug half the size of yours and have two little black plugs. how do you know witch cables to join? any advice you be grateful.
@@mariusm5187 NO all the connections are different...... I'm going to pay the alarm people to rip the bit of crap out and find a better one. if you come up with a solution please let me know. thanks

What are the symptoms of a faulty alarm? It obviously won't start. Will the fuel pump prime?
Work like a charm. Thanks :)
Do these alarms come fitted from the factory?

My Tiger 800 had a blanking plug new. After building in the alarm I always carry the plug. Just in case . . .
After connecting the plug ignition comes on but the bike won't start. Looks like the starter immobilizer stays on. Any suggestions please?
