    Thank you very much, recently got a bike fitted with this alarm, it had zero documentation on the Alarm system. Thanks to this I was able to set a pin and get a second remote added. Your support team was very helpful supplying a PDF of the manual and providing me with a spare remote.

    Great Alarm had it on my R6 for 5 years and its never given a problem and winter mode saves the battery drain :)

    Mine is also driving me crazy, disarm it so can work on the bike etc and it keeps re-arming it self,
    and as its a Thacham Cat 1 approved, i thought it would make my insurance cheaper, and it doesn't!

      I have one one on my Honda Hornet. I've found a solution to that problem. First solution, disable the alarm (grey button) then turn the ignition on and leave the ignition on. Not ideal for an extended period with a permanently on headlamp. Nor can you turn your back on the bike for a second when you've got it in the drive way.
      These alarms have something called "ferry mode" the idea being it can get jostled about a bit and not go off. What it actually does is disable all the movement and shock sensors. The only thing that will set it off is turning the ignition on. To set the bike into ferry mode push the grey button (two hazard light flashes) so the system is armed. Then push the black button and you should get three flashes. You can now move the bike around without the alarm going off.

      +HaveBikeWillVlog WITH THE IGNITION TURNED ON PRESS BOTH BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME FOR TEN SECONDS TILL YOU HEAR A SINGLE BEEP. THAT'S THE BIKE ALARM SET IN FERRY MODE. YOU CAN THEN DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND THE ALARM WILL NOT GO OFF.

      That's Winter mode, not ferry mode.

      My experience with Datatool devices (Triumph) since 2001 has been excellent. I've found out the complainers either have a weak or dead battery in the key fob and/or they don't understand how it works.

    how to turn off the datatool s4 passive arming? I want to control it only by pult

  • @kev.j.goodwin8612
    @kev.j.goodwin8612 4 роки тому

    Read the manual and understand the commands and you won't have a problem. I've simply set my S4 to immobilise - one press of the grey button on the fob before switching on the ignition is all you have to do. If you're going to leave the bike parked at an event or when staying away from home, its easy to set the tamper/movement feature and then disable it when not required. I do agree that remembering all the button sequences is a pain, but generally once you've got the system configured how you want it, there's nothing else to do. The little reminder card is good to keep in your wallet. A bit old fashioned, the system really needs a small touch screen for programming because of the number of features and the fob for just arm/disarm.

      Does this alarm automatically arm? Or can I have it only arm when commanded. Hard to find a manual or an answer.

    • @kev.j.goodwin8612
      @kev.j.goodwin8612 4 роки тому

      @@dave4190 Yes, the alarm will always arm itself because it's the requirement of it being a Thatcham alarm. I do agree that the alarm is not very intuitive and there's a few gimmicks that tend to confuse things at first but the info that you need is in the manual and once you get used to it you won't have a problem.

      I didn't touch my bike for over year and battery it's flatty in the alarm box and now I can't start the engine what I can do ????? Any advice please :)

    • @kev.j.goodwin8612
      @kev.j.goodwin8612 3 роки тому

      @@pamu9366 The bikes main battery will probably be ruined if it's been left totally flat for any period of time so a good idea to change that before anything else. Leave the bike on charge for twenty four hours and hopefully the alarm's internal battery will recover and you'll be able to start the bike.

    The S4 on my '08 Triumph ST is my second Datatool device (self installed). The previous unit was an S3 installed on an '01 ST (dealer installed). The FOB remotes for the S3 seemed to be finicky but the device worked as advertised. I started having hot start issues last summer with no instrument LCQ display or alarm lamp on panel. Let the bike sit for 20 minutes or so and everything is fine. I thought the S4 unit was popping out. Fast forward to recently. Charged battery (new 2014) but didn't attempt to start but for a couple of weeks - bike acted like it had a weak battery. Will recharge and test the battery, connections, etc. this week - is there anything I should lookout for? I'm on medical orders not to ride motorcycles at the moment but that hasn't stopped me before. The bike and S4 unit have been trouble free otherwise - less than 9k miles total.
    Update: Sprint required a new battery. Battery in key fob is shot. Located second, unused key fob and everything works properly. Trying to locate button battery for key fob. Keep up the good works.

    My S4 green was fitted to my Kawasaki new in 2006 but it died last week. Completely unresponsive - I tested it as much as possible but I suppose somethings failed in the main control unit- I completely removed it today. 15 years brilliant service but nothing lasts forever.

    The Datatool S4 is the worst rig I've ever seen. The installation is simple but the operation is far too complicated. The remote control does not react very often.
    In addition, the case is not shed from the inside as shown in the video, it is a cheap board installed and individual components are attached with hot glue! That at a price of 370 €
    I had the Datatool S4 two weeks in my triumph, then I have expanded and disassembled them to see how bad it is processed and finally I have disposed of the system in electronic waste. Never again a plant of this company! Cheap electronics that does not work well.
    Die Datatool S4 ist die schlechteste Anlage, die ich je gesehen habe. Die Montage ist einfach aber die Bedienung ist viel zu umständlich. Die Fernbedienung reagiert ganz oft nicht.
    Außerdem ist das Gehäuse von innen nicht vergossen wie in dem Video gezeigt wird, es ist eine billige Platine verbaut und einzelne Bauteile sind mit Heißkleber befestigt! Das bei einem Preis von 370€
    Ich habe die Datatool S4 zwei Wochen in meiner Triumph gehabt, danach habe ich sie ausgebaut und zerlegt, um zu sehen wie schlecht sie verarbeitet ist und zum Schluss habe ich die Anlage im Elektroschrott entsorgt. Nie wieder eine Anlage dieser Firma! Billige Elektronik die nicht gut funktioniert.

    I have one on my Speed Triple and I can safely say this alarm is a POS. Cannot stop it passively alarming the bike after 45 seconds UNLESS the bike engine is actually running or it is already alarmed. Anything in-between and it will alarm after 45 secs which makes moving the bike around, working on it or cleaning it a total bloody nightmare. Plus is flattens the bike battery in 3-4 days. I am going to have it taken off. Hate it.

    Huge glaring flaw with the product.. no “ full disarm” ..basically, you are pretty well left with a constant passive alarm setting..I’m sure datatool reasoning has its points.. but, unless you wish to become an unwitting slave to an alarm system with its series of 10 second button pushing grey and black buttons which in a dim light look to be both black and a myriad of contradictory addendums..give this product a pass.. I will “ up one” anyone with a hint of entrepreneurship to develop a lo-cost drop in unit with “full disarm “ and use data tools preexisting wiring and sensors ..and the removed data tools units could then be sent to a central collecting point to be crushed by a steam powered 500 ton hydraulic Press🙂..the collective sigh would be heard around the world!
