- In this clip from the November 17 episode, Lupita Nyong’o discovers she carries DNA from the oldest maternal haplogroup called Mitochondrial Eve, something we’ve never seen on the show before. During this time, no human beings were alive outside of Africa meaning every person on Earth was Black!

Had me lookn at my DNA i am khoisan, we have the oldest dna to a human tree. Lupita pre-dates me & our tribe WHHHAAATTT
@@autobotdiva9268 that's only one chromosome. If you are Khoisan you will have more older DNA among your other chromsomes. Technically she might just be divergent enough that her X chromosome does not fit into any branch currently identified. Haplogroups are being updated all the time. My Y chromosome is currently R-Z18**6. * for privacy and it is approximately 400 to 500 years ago that the common male ancestor lived with other matches. It has a mutation that precedes it called R-Z1**38. Another relative of someone who tested positive for that mutation but not my own had his position on the Haplotree updated within the last few months as someone tested who is closer so my mutation has a sibling mutation now. Haplotree has been updating the more people are tested.
R1B is 10s of thousands of years old.
If more Khoi or San women were tested the more likely this "old" DNA will be discovered. Technically this simply pushes back the age of mitochondrial eve.

Lupita is a genuine living treasure. Her inner and outer beauty radiates beyond the universe. Ah, it’s a divine time to be alive to actually know this about Lipita.
Right? The first time I saw her, I thought, "She's the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen!" Her skin glows, she radiates beauty and love with her smile. Her voice is like music. Yeah, I'm straight, but I have to admit to having a bit of a "girl crush" on Lupita. Same way I feel about Michelle Obama, especially after reading her wonderful book (which I highly recommend). They are both women who are wonderful role models for young women and girls.

I think it serves well to clarify to many people commenting on this video that the Mitochondrial Eve mentioned herein is NOT the same Eve of the Abrahamic religious narratives.
Geneticists and the scientific community named Mitochondrial Eve in honor of Biblical Eve. But Mitochondrial Eve herself was NOT the only person alive at the time she was alive, she is merely the oldest unbroken lineage found so far that survived up to today, from which all other lineages of today also evolved out of.
Mitochondrial Eve evolved from earlier hominid species (and those from other earlier species, until you get to the most primitive form of all life on earth hundreds of millions of years ago).
Thus, Mitochondrial Eve is the “Eve” of the scientific evolutionary account, though she was named in honor and in reference to the Eve character recounted in the religious Biblical creationist account of the origin of humanity, where she was created, according to the Bible, from Adam’s rib and was the first woman to have ever existed when she was supposedly created, and she did not evolve out of any earlier living being, but was created by a Deity.
Again, Mitochondrial Eve is NOT the same Biblical Eve character recounted in the biblical narrative.

@@sammysalah2999 Since that oldest known DNA belongs to people who eventually left Africa for points elsewhere, what that says is your maternal line never diverged so completely that the group shifted. I'm somewhere in the H1 group myself, so my ancestors had some kind of genetic mutation break take place. Also, I recall there's now considered to be nine Eves, but Lupita's ancestor is the oldest known to anyone.

I'm from the USA, and my Maternal Haplogroup is L1c4. Taken from 23andme Haplogroup L1c originated about 78,000 years ago, most likely in western-central Africa. Today, it is particularly common among the Bantu-speaking populations of central Africa and the forest-dwelling Pygmies. The ancestral population of these two groups probably diverged about 60,000 to 70,000 years ago as the climate became drier and the African rainforest fragmented. When the forest fragmented, the population split and each subsequently developed unique branches of L1c. Maternal Haplogroup, L1c4, traces back to a woman who lived approximately 32,000 years ago.

Just because we all carry Eve's genes that doesn't mean she doesn't or didn't have a direct lineage first (which we all seen just now) and that it STILL continues today in order for all of us to have those genes. Just accept that Lupita IS apart of that primary lineage and leave it be. Note: I'm not a child, a servant, nor am I married to you, so don't call me "Honey." And again, we all have Eve's genes, but not all of us are close in lineage as Lupita is based upon the tribe her bloodline comes from through the women she's related to who still carry them. My Boyfriend studies genes for a living, and I always ask him about how genes work and the way I've explained it to you IS how genes work; because I just knew you were going to come back and write a book to prove me wrong. We're all related to each other and Eve biologically, but some of us are more closer to Eve in their genes than others (like Lupita). It's not impossible.
