After meeting arriving at the Dalish Camp at Sundermount, you climb the mountain with Merrille.
Merrille performs a ritual and summons Flemeth.
Fenris has some interesting dialogue with Flemeth.
Interesting that Fenris is hostile to anything magic but when he realizes Flemeth wasn't a normal mage made him curious instead of angry.

Fenris probably notices that Flemeth is going to paint the place with what's left of his corpse if he provokes her.
Its cause his hatred is due to trama rather then being told to hate all magic
Only now I realise that this "fragment" of Flemeth may live on even after the Dread Wolf did his thing in "Trespasser". Huh.
IIRC, there are notes (from the devs) in the DAI game files that state that Flemythal was cool with Solas killing her because she knew a piece of herself would live on in Morrigan. Probably in the same way that she has possessed her previous daughters' bodies.

I'd forgotten the specifics of this quest. Now that I've watched this video, I'm thinking the same thing.
I thought she sent out a bit of herself into the eluvian just before that happens.
I wouldn't count out Flem/Mythal turning up at some point in the next game ....
@@tagreenroyd i heard that the actress for Mythal's voice doesn't want to continue the role, so my guess is next time we see Morrigan she will have Mythal inside her.
I think Fenris was terrified. He had no idea what this lady was and he had no idea how to approach her.
She knew who he was without even asking, I think that'd be terrifying for us all.
Idk, maybe she was eavesdropping from Hawke's pocket rather than just magically Knowing. I might be tempted to ask if I were him, that's a pretty funny image

I'm still pissed that she could turn into a freaking dragon but we were limited to a giant spider, a bear, and a swarm of bees.
you have to remember your learning on the go, where she had decades to practice the art.

Dahdahdah Dada for one it'd be wayyy to big, and for two you learn your shape shifting abilities from Morrigan who can't turn into a Dragon herself, so why would you? She also says the animals must be studied for a time anyways, it would be pretty freakin awesome to turn into one though, I hope they at least bring back the skill line for DA4, I'll be disappointed if there isn't enough special magic, since we're going to the land of mages
It was Mythal that lent that ability as Morrigan couldn't shift into a dragon until she drank from the well.

@@PhantomQueen89 I would like that, but I think more about Hawke because she/he saved Flemeth, while Alistair no. And Flemeth said to Hawke something like "If you see an abyss don't hesitate and jump" in Dragon Age 2. I feel it is related to the fade quest in Inquisition and I think leaving Hawke could be interesting because of this

Damn, even with as disorganized as BioWare was in Dragon Age, they hinted about a mystery fact this far back.
I must be stupid because I just realized her "appointment" is her probably finding Solas after he woke up. I completely missed this detail YEARS after playing this game and Inquisition.
Flemeth speaks of the appointment in the past tense. "I HAD an appointment to keep". The appointment to keep is when the warden confronts Flemeth for Morrigan's loyalty quest.

I wonder if Flemeth would have told Merrill to keep kneeling if she shown that she actually did know Flemeth's real identity; her comment about the people kneeling too easily makes me think she might have been willing to accept some reverence as Mythal, but was amused/irritated that she was being knelt to by someone who knew her merely as Asha'bellanar.
There's also the fact that Mythal didn't want her people to be enslaved like they were to the other Elvhan, so it makes sense that she didn't want her to kneel in that regard. That's what I thought of when replaying it
@@Starfang_Wanderer I never really caught anything to indicate that Mythal had a different opinion on slavery to the other Evanuris.
She treated her people well and cared about them, sure, but that doesn't necessarily mean she wanted to free them or that they weren't still bound to her (I mean, the whole Well and sentinels with vallaslin thing suggests that she's fine with all that).
As far as I can remember the slave-freeing and rebellion was all Fen'Harel.
That Solas declared that Mythal was the less evil of the Evanuris, just mean that she only look good compared with the rest of the Elven Gods, not that she was actually good.

So flemeth was spoiling DAI heavy. She was telling Hawke about when he the Inquisitor and the others would be stuck in the fade. Hawke would need to make a choice. She literally was telling the player to choose Hawke to stay in the fade

Looking back at this scene, I wonder how much Merril really knows about Flemeth.
She I don't know, but the keeper of her clan, definitely knows who she is/was.
There are two characters in Dragon age you can't help respecting. Flemeth and Arishok. The moment I saw Flemeth I immediately developed a sense of respect for her. It felt like it wasn't my choice.
Kate Mulgrew's delivery in that regard _infinitely_ helped improve that very palpable impression, yes.

You know, it is ironic they did somewhat sexualize Flemeth considering Mulgrew's strong views of overtly sexualize female characters caused a rift between her and Jerri Ryan while on Star Trek Voyager
This is actually one of BioWare's original character designs for Flemeth from Dragon Age Origins.
Uhm.. Anyone with enough power to turn into a dragon.. Will use that said power to look sexy. Its simple math dude
With Solas as the main antagonist in the next game, I'm hoping to see both Fenris and Merrill in some capacity. Both stronger than before.

@@thenaturalfooland Well, with the way Varric was mentioning "Daisy", it didn't give the impression that Merrill had gone down a dark path with her blood magic, so there's much less of a chance she'd be on Solas' side. And it would be out of character for her, because we all want her to remain cute, innocent, adorably awkward little Merrill.
@@MattHunX in the world of thedas... Staying innocent and cute would be extremely difficult. Idk I think it would bring some more character for her. After all she cares or cared a lot about elvhen history.

4:17 This sentence is why I always leave Hawke behind in the Fade in Inquisition. I'm certain Hawke learns something there that's mind blowing. And I'm so hoping that by the end of this series we get all our player characters standing side by side to fight whatever is coming as the final Boss.
Yep that’s why I leave Hawke too. I can’t wait until DA4, they better make it worth it.

Ironic, given he is basically looking at a powerful mage carrying the essence of an ancient and stronger mage within herself. The only mistake in his deduction comes from not meeting mages as powerful as Mythal was.
This makes me wonder if there's another fragment that survived Solas.
Even if there is no fragment on solas, the another fragment would be inside the one you chose to drink from the well, I mean Morrigan or your Inquisitor
@@svckmyfeeto Oh, poor Morrigan. My Warden went to all the trouble of killing Flemeth so she wouldn't get possessed and used as a vessel and for what? For her to accidentally get herself used as a vessel anyway at a totally different time?
My inquisitor is gonna have to drink from the Well now just because of that.

Flemeth just commands respect in every scene she’s in. She’s so old and wise and seems to have some clairvoyant abilities. If she turned to the screen and started talking directly to the player it wouldn’t be out of character.

Not enemy, she has been forshadowing Solas's reckoning since she is Mythal, or rather the Vessel for Mythal.
She knew Solas was alive still and would and that when he Awoke that he would need her power after since he would still be weak from his sleep.
Solas has always been the Endgame, and now His time has come, the time of the Dread Wolf Arises once again after 8000 years he will reshape the world again.
Nelson_ Rebel she even says “I have an appointment to keep” that appointment is for Solas
Flementh is a straight vessel of mythal, but she does lead a good warning for Hawke and Morrigan.
The devs hinted that a fragment of her lingers in morrigan or with morrigan, so I dont think this is the last we see of her.
@@terra_the_nightingale135 I think the appointment she's referencing is over a decade too early for Solas (bear in mind he only wakes up a year before Inquisition, and Hawke's story spans multiple years).
It's more likely something to do with an encounter in Origins - not the battle at Ostagar because that just happened, but maybe Morrigan's whole "please kill Flemeth for me so she doesn't possess me and use me as her next physical vessel" quest/potential fight.

1:00 Mythal ? I am sure Solas' friend is the real villain of the story. No god of Justice would crave vengence. True Justice would like the murderers to be punished for their motives and deeds, not for personal interests.
DA4 is going to be epic !
If it isn’t Mythal who ends up being the big bad of the story I think it would be the leader of the Elven pantheon: Elgar’nan. Elgar’nan would make an interesting villain because not only was he the leader of the ancient elves, he may also be the Maker himself.
@@yang6642 you are right, albeit there is one specific element that disturbs me : amongst the slave markings, there is Mythal's ! How could the goddess of Justice have a slave marking of hers ?
And I agree with you : Elghar'nan would make a marvelous villain, perhaps because among all ancient elven gods, he is the one most shrouded in mystery...
Mathilde Colas Keeping slaves is definitely wrong but if we are to believe what Solas said in Trespasser, she wasn’t an evil tyrant when it came to her slaves, she cared for them and protected them. I think June has the most mystery surrounding him, Elgar’nan has a few legends about him that give us some sort of insight into his personality, from what I’ve gathered he was a psychotic tyrant whose wrath could only be silenced by Mythal because she was his wife.

The markings werent always for slaves though.
You have to remember their people revered the Evanuris for thousands of years. The entire race was Immortal and all could use magic because the world naturally started off as one whole thing with the physical and the Fade.
Many used the markings just as the current elves do. To show their respect for the Evanuris and whichever one they revere/follow the most due to their "sphere" of influence.
Although it DOES beg to question. Just how powerful are the Evanuris that an entire Race of Immortal elves who ALL could use magic "natural as breathing". But yet still saw the Evanuris as so powerful their it defied even the understanding of the most advanced and powerful civilization to exist in Thedas.
Im betting they Rofl stomp thedas without the Aid of Old Gods and Titans combined. Remember that both those LOST to the Evanuris and hold a grudge against them

There's so much about Flemeth we still dont really know. If she is truly immortal and all powerful as some god, then how did the warden and allies manage to kill her when she turned into a dragon.
If shes some ancient elven god why is she not an elf.
If shes not an elf because shes had to possess women for eons then why does she need to possess them at all.
Is she even evil compared to someone like solas whos willing to kill billions for a world he deems as perfect

I didn't kill Flemeth in Origins, imported the save and still got this. I guess, Flemeth was killed by the darkspawn.

@@Raydr62 to be fair, guns in games like dead space 3 and even the gifts and gear in da origins cheesed the game a lot. gear as a whole given by dlc helps through each dragon age game
That's the ugliest Hawke ever seen.
Apart from all hate im finished this game multiple times, and it was enjoyable. Inqusition however was horrible and unplayble :/
