Flemeth looks heartbroken at what Morrigan said, she realizes that she was not the mother she should have been and I think it's touching when she lets Kieran go and tells her that she was "never in danger". It shows that Flemeth underestimated Morrigans desire for power over her love for her son and Warden (in my playthrough).
I think it's simpler than that, Flemeth is just a tragic figure. Because she carries the soul of a "god", she's basically more of a long-term/big picture thinker (it doesn't help that the god who's decided to take up residence is a god of justice). But this doesn't mean that she doesn't experience life just as any other mortal does - and the pain you see when Morrigan offers herself to her (as if Flemeth were a genuinely evil person) seems exactly like the pain a mother would feel whenever their son/daughter accused them of being "evil" when in fact they are only trying to look out for them the best way they knew how. Flemeth obviously cares about Morrigan and even Kieran, considering the many options she had for dealing with them - she always used the least confrontational/placating approach each time. This would then explain her parting words - these are the words of hurt parent, not a regretful one. Hurt that Morrigan would think her such a terrible mother despite the fact that Flemeth seems to have actively tried to avoid crossing paths with her. Hurt that (if she mentions these words in the well) Morrigan still thinks ill of her, despite her own flippant reaction to Morrigan's attempt at matricide. Hurt that (if Morrigan drinks from the well) Morrigan chose a path that led her straight back to Flemeth, and now Flemeth has to use Morrigan whether she wanted to or not. Hurt that for all their time together Morrigan still doesn't seem to understand that she does care - her words basically amount to "if you didn't want to do it, then you didn't have to... that's always how it's been". And she probably hates herself for being that way, because although Flemeth and Mythal share similar long-term goals they obviously have very different ideas about short-term concerns. Although she admits that they are now just one being, Flemeth's manner implies that she still sees her and Mythal as distinct somehow (like the situation with DA:O's Wynne and her own spirit). A regretful parent would simply be apologizing or offering excuses.
flemeth was also abusive. she thought she was making morrigan stronger, teaching her to beleive love was a weakness, and such. I'm glad she's regretful. Flemeth probably always loved Morrigan, but that doesn't mean she was a good mom. good on Morrigan for confronting her and generally being a better mother. also thought it was a test to pick at Morrigan's character. does she still hold power above everything? or does she care for her child? it's a way to tell where her loyalties lie--it tells Flemeth where to strike if she needs. it gives her an advantage.
I love that Flemeth seems genuinely hurt by the cruel words Morrigan throws at her. I think somewhere deep down in her soul Flemeth truly loves her daughter.
In Origins, Morrigan tells the Warden that Flemeth taught her harsh lessons but they were necessary for survival and that she was better for it. But out from under her mother's thumb, she realizes this isn't the case. That's why she'll never be the mother to Kieran than Flemeth was to her.

It's so thoroughly impressive, how you played through and then organized these clips! Thank you! I'm also impressed bioware had so many threads. There is a lot of story and options to weave together. I didn't know of these other options.
Why wouldn't she be hurt? As she said herself, Morrigan (and even Kieran) were never in danger in the firstplace, yet Morrigan happily told us since game 1 that poor old swampy Flemmeth was eating children to stay young - the very same Flemmeth who has no problem cutting a deal with the hero of Fereldan to save everyone the trouble of fighting over a mere book that Morrigan wants for power because, if you haven't noticed, that's Morrigans top priority (until she actually had a child, at least). TLDR neither are innocent or victims. There's a lot of sad layers underneath it all that are easy to miss. As much as I like Morrigan as a character, I never liked how Flemmeth was essentially a backstory cameo across three games - and now she's gone for good. They really should have used her more and played on their 'conflict that actually isn't really a conflict' vibe, just ancient secrecy.
RopeDrink u do realize flemeth put a piece of her soul in the mirror when solas kills her. (maybe he even took the old gods soul and nothing more) flemeth is really clever u know that right.
That doesn't mean she'll return - and even if she does, it doesn't mean she'll return in this form. Until/unless she comes back we can only assume she's gone.
Seeing Kieran and Flemeth renews my hopes that perhaps one day Kieran, mama Morrigan, grandmother Flemeth, half-sister Anora, and brother-in-law Alistair will all somehow end up in the same room together, the King and Queen of Ferelden completely oblivious to the lovely family reunion that's taking place. Meanwhile, Warden Loghain sweats in a corner, praying to the Maker that Anora never realizes how the two families are related.
+Kreuzkruger89 So in the first Dragon Age game, you can make a series of choices which lead to this beautiful family unit. This is about to get a bit complicated, so bear with me here lol. Loghain is the father of Anora, current queen of Ferelden. you can convince Alistair to marry Anora, thus making him king and Loghain his father-in-law. Later on, you can force Loghain to join the Wardens and convince him to have sex with Morrigan (for actually important reasons, I swear lol). Morrigan, who is the daughter of Flemeth, becomes pregnant and their child is Kieran. Kieran would thus be a half-brother to Anora and a brother-in-law to Alistair. It's probably also important to mention that Alistair hates Loghain and has a serious distrust of Morrigan. Loghain moreover also hates Morrigan as well as Flemeth, and is not aware of the fact that Flemeth and Morrigan are actually related.
Asha’bellenar is what I have always called Flemith since Dragon age 2, I see her as Meril see’s her a powerful character that just is the most detailed and self serving but also does truly love her daughter. I have always loved her since origins like she is my all time favorite character.
So, the meeting in the forest is, if Kieran doesn't exist or is ordinary. While the one in the veil is automatic to Kieran being special ? Wished Kieran could stay special.
My Kieran was special, so more than likely seeing as that is how Flemeth is confronted. She has no reason to go near the veil if she's not taking the soul from the looks of it.
I wonder if Flemeth too is under geas of Mythal, bound to carry out Mythal's agenda? She seems very lonely. Perhaps she raised such a feisty daughter to alleviate that loneliness. But at same going all secretive and tricky, i wonder if that's all meant to protect Morrigan from Mythal's agenda? It's all unfortunate that Morrigan being like a typical rebellious teen, just filled the gaps with her own presumptions, tried to play her own power games, and caused lots of trouble to Flemeth and others.
@Tig Bitties Oof that comment was long time ago, but I believe that kneeling option did actually look different for elves, aka she would not in kneel like humans do etc.
Wait, wait!Match the archdemon's power given time!?So,if my male mage Inquisitor drank from the well and given enough time...Can he too match the archdemon's power!?Wow,I would love to see that.
What makes Morrigan say the "I will take my chances" instead of "He returns with me"? I just encountered it for the first time and it was way different from what I usually see.
0:00 - 3:12 I’ve never seen this part before; I’ve played Inquisition several times and I’ve never seen the scene where Morrigan is reading that book on the bench.
+Thomas Brennan If I had to guess, one is for a Morrigan who was with the Warden and the other covers a Morrigan who is no longer romantically involved or never was in the first place.
probably the difference between "normal" human kieran (morrigan in romance with the warden but no dark ritual used) and old god kieran (dark ritual used).
What series of choices do you think are best purely for a romanced Morrigan, the Warden and OG Kieran (ignoring everyone else)? Spoilers are welcome. BTW, this is a 100% metagaming question: what do you think given what happens in Inquisition and Trespasser and anything else the devs have said?
I remember watching a playthrough of Flemeth talking about what was in a boy: A dragon of some sort that was sealed away during the fifth blight. At least I believe it was the fifth. Why was that not shown?
Flemeth is Janeway, Janeway is Flemeth.. >.< Star Track meets Dragon Age. Oh well, if Kate had to do any voice acting, she rocks at this one. Her best work ever!
Guess you have the book and the temple scenes if there is no Kieran. As well as you have the temple if Kieran is human, and the fade if Kieran is an old god.
I didn’t even know the first scenario that existed. It’s must be from an Origins play through where you don’t do the dark ritual. I’ve always done it but I now want to go back and not do the ritual to get that scene
Til this day I don't understand why Morrigan gave a ring to the Warden which allowed her to track him but never gave an item with the same enchantment to Kieran. It makes totally no sense at all in my head... 😂
My memory is kinda fuzzy, but wasn't that ring something Flemeth made to track Morrigan and Morrigan was able to manipulate it for her own use? She may only have one and she have it to the Warden.
The one thing that I couldn’t figure out is how did Flemeth knew of the deal between my character or Alistair with Morrigan the night of eve of battle.
Well I always assumed that Flemeth pass on Morrigan her love for old magics and powers like she said. And then, probably taught her some dark secret rituals like the one for a baby old god. So, she knew when the Blight will come that Morrigan would'nt resist to try that ritual or even push her to go with the warden (I don't remembe exactly, it's been a long time for me since my last DAO) Then the hero lived despite killing the ArchDemon... not so hard to put 1+1 for Flemeh I guess
I am pretty sure this was the sole purpose of sending Morrigan with the Warden. I thought Morrigan admitted as much in DAO, but can't remember for sure now.
@@polymorphesquirrel Yeah, Morrigan tells the Warden that the Ritual was why Flemeth sent her with them. She is also the one who told Morrigan about the Ritual.
So, is the only differences between Kieran being full human, and him being part Old God?: 1. Flemmeth taking (it looks like anyway) the part of the Old God soul and saying "No more dreams," and just not 2. Morrigan saying only "Just posess me now," and "posess me now, but I will be a better mom than you!" 3. All while everyone in the scene talking about Kieran as if he IS part Old God, regaurdless of if he is or isn't
This is confusing me, how do you get the playthrough where Flemeth takes the old god soul and tells the inquisitor about the dragon he can use to defeat corypheus? Basically how to get the playthrough in 28:10. I already made a save where keiran has the old god soul but do I just let Morrigan drink from the well?
Flemeth is ultimately the final boss for the series right? All things considered she is just like Solas in that her lust for vengeance is a threat to everyone currently living in Thedas. The line "a reckoning for the ages.” Shows me that in the end herself and all the other Elven gods will have to be killed in the finale of the series. They are the biggest threat to Thedas.
@@wolves600 They are sealed away. Solas in Trespasser basically says none of them are dead, when he says "You have met the spirit of Mythal have you not, my ancient kin are not so easily killed" or something along those lines.

I'm also impressed bioware had so many threads. There is a lot of story and options to weave together. I didn't know of these other options.
13:03 that fuckin leaf...
*27:16* she has the nerve the look hurt. BISH YOU SHOWED UP TO KIDNAP HER SON! HOW DID YOU THINK SHE WAS GOING TO FEEL?!
RopeDrink jeah but u said she's gone for good. u don't know that. she could come back next game.
The look and sound of confusion and fear when Morrigan realizes what Flemeth is.. wow
+ItoFumika I don't know either, could you explain pls?
Loghain moreover also hates Morrigan as well as Flemeth, and is not aware of the fact that Flemeth and Morrigan are actually related.
flemeth is so freaking cool!
Hm.. Ive never had the scene where morrigan reads the book. I guess I have to make a world state where she doesn't have Kieran for that >.
Nathalie Magnus she must drink from the well
You can also get that scene if Kieran is a normal human, not a God-Soul human
Asha’bellenar is what I have always called Flemith since Dragon age 2, I see her as Meril see’s her a powerful character that just is the most detailed and self serving but also does truly love her daughter. I have always loved her since origins like she is my all time favorite character.
So, the meeting in the forest is, if Kieran doesn't exist or is ordinary.
While the one in the veil is automatic to Kieran being special ?
Wished Kieran could stay special.
Okay, cool, people keeps liking my comment, but, it doesn't answer the question, i'm actually asking.
My Kieran was special, so more than likely seeing as that is how Flemeth is confronted. She has no reason to go near the veil if she's not taking the soul from the looks of it.
It is an abandoned koncept of Bioware
I wonder if Flemeth too is under geas of Mythal, bound to carry out Mythal's agenda? She seems very lonely. Perhaps she raised such a feisty daughter to alleviate that loneliness. But at same going all secretive and tricky, i wonder if that's all meant to protect Morrigan from Mythal's agenda? It's all unfortunate that Morrigan being like a typical rebellious teen, just filled the gaps with her own presumptions, tried to play her own power games, and caused lots of trouble to Flemeth and others.
I love Flemeth in all the three games, great adversary, pleasantly acidic in tone and brilliant voice acting. I miss this game!
you have forgotten the elven "kneeling" option at the altar ;)
@Tig Bitties Oof that comment was long time ago, but I believe that kneeling option did actually look different for elves, aka she would not in kneel like humans do etc.
Wait, wait!Match the archdemon's power given time!?So,if my male mage Inquisitor drank from the well and given enough time...Can he too match the archdemon's power!?Wow,I would love to see that.
respect for how many times you must have replayed this to record all options
I've always liked her more than flemeth, she really knows her stuff and is a super memorable character
That handsome inquisitor serious face at 14:58 😂😂😂🤣
I may be wrong but I believe she will be revealed as Andraste as well.
Oh I hope so
One day, someone will summarize the terrible events of your life so quickly.
This scene always makes me want to play Oblivion/Skyrim again. Fighting gods. Flipping off Daedra left and right.
WHAT ARE YOU PLANS FLEMETH TELL ME
Gives her power to Solas at the end
@@alnotbiggaytho7124 not entirly, she stores something in the eluvian before he comes
What makes Morrigan say the "I will take my chances" instead of "He returns with me"? I just encountered it for the first time and it was way different from what I usually see.
I had the opposite. Not sure what triggers it.
Having a romance with the warden, maybe? I don't know, it's the only thing that comes to my mind.
11:12 floating leaf
0:00 - 3:12
I’ve never seen this part before; I’ve played Inquisition several times and I’ve never seen the scene where Morrigan is reading that book on the bench.
What armor is the Inquisitor wearing? I love Flemeth, btw :)
Isn't it great to wait 3 years and still not get an answer? 😂
@Tig Bitties Ikr lmao
I imagine morrigan going back home to give her warden to yell at him and ask as to why her mother lives.
is the scene without morrigan's son if she didn't get the old god's soul?
8:52 This is a Princess Bride reference, right?
13:05 damn nature u scary
This takes on a whole new meaning when my headcanon is that Morrigan is my inquisitor's stepmother.
WAIT WHY DOES SHE KEEP LOOKING ST THE SCREEN INTO MY SOUL
Flemeth, the Baba Yaga of Dragon Age. Fuck Morrigan, Flemeth all the way!!!
2:52 Not THAT just cracks me up hard... :D
I never got that first scene, Morrigan with the book. When and how did you get that?
All I hear is Captain Kathryn Janeway when Flemeth speaks.
what causes the slight dialouge difference when Flemeth offers to to take or leave Kieran
Morrigan looks like she could be Lulu's (FFX) twin sister.
I never had the scene with Morrigan and her book I guess. When did you get that one? I have to replay DAI xD
Damn he's a big lad for a 11 year old. Id say its because of the old god soul... But he's that size even withouth it.
How do you get the Fade meeting with Kieren and Flemeth? I just had the option to go to the temple altar to meet her.
I remember watching a playthrough of Flemeth talking about what was in a boy: A dragon of some sort that was sealed away during the fifth blight. At least I believe it was the fifth. Why was that not shown?
This whole time there are other ways to meet Flemeth?!
A soul is not forced upon the unwilling morrigan you were never in any danger from me
Where did you get the quest for this altar from? Apparently it never showed up to me. :/
Flemeth is Janeway, Janeway is Flemeth.. >.< Star Track meets Dragon Age. Oh well, if Kate had to do any voice acting, she rocks at this one. Her best work ever!
but what if no one has a kid with morigan does any of this even happen?
Guess you have the book and the temple scenes if there is no Kieran. As well as you have the temple if Kieran is human, and the fade if Kieran is an old god.
hello I know this is an old vid but how do you get the part where Morrigan is reading the book? dose she not have Kieran to get that one?
I didn’t even know the first scenario that existed. It’s must be from an Origins play through where you don’t do the dark ritual. I’ve always done it but I now want to go back and not do the ritual to get that scene
Best part of the game right here.
@@juanlaise1059bingo.
So.. is your character fully customizable ?
The one thing that I couldn’t figure out is how did Flemeth knew of the deal between my character or Alistair with Morrigan the night of eve of battle.
Well I always assumed that Flemeth pass on Morrigan her love for old magics and powers like she said. And then, probably taught her some dark secret rituals like the one for a baby old god. So, she knew when the Blight will come that Morrigan would'nt resist to try that ritual or even push her to go with the warden (I don't remembe exactly, it's been a long time for me since my last DAO)
Then the hero lived despite killing the ArchDemon... not so hard to put 1+1 for Flemeh I guess
So, is the only differences between Kieran being full human, and him being part Old God?:
1. Flemmeth taking (it looks like anyway) the part of the Old God soul and saying "No more dreams," and just not
2. Morrigan saying only "Just posess me now," and "posess me now, but I will be a better mom than you!"
3. All while everyone in the scene talking about Kieran as if he IS part Old God, regaurdless of if he is or isn't
I got the temple in my playthrough. How do you get into the Fade for this scene?
Kieran must have an Old God Soul.
ok but what is the name of that outfit/armor that their inquisitor is wearing at 18:11 bc that is such a serve 🤩💅🏼
I´ve never seen that first part before.. is that what happens if Kieran doesnt exist?
So is this different with a human Kieran?
nope same
This is confusing me, how do you get the playthrough where Flemeth takes the old god soul and tells the inquisitor about the dragon he can use to defeat corypheus? Basically how to get the playthrough in 28:10. I already made a save where keiran has the old god soul but do I just let Morrigan drink from the well?
I think the inquisitor has to drink from the well
Flemeth is ultimately the final boss for the series right? All things considered she is just like Solas in that her lust for vengeance is a threat to everyone currently living in Thedas.
The line "a reckoning for the ages.” Shows me that in the end herself and all the other Elven gods will have to be killed in the finale of the series. They are the biggest threat to Thedas.
I'm pretty sure all the other elven gods are already dead
@@wolves600 They are sealed away. Solas in Trespasser basically says none of them are dead, when he says "You have met the spirit of Mythal have you not, my ancient kin are not so easily killed" or something along those lines.
it seems so shallow, but what was your elven inq wearing? i didn't recognize it
Ioi Leilani its a mod for the skyhold outfit.
Minadori123 geh! pc T_T oh well lol
XD sorry ^^
Why does Flemeth look like Rita Repulsa?
28:12 what triggers this and not the other one?
