@Black Monty Burns I want this too. Especially with Royce on the Production end. I'm basing that off "Upside Down!" Royce spazzed on both ends well enough that this is is some shit that needs to happen!
Nas announced King’s Disease 2 coming out next Friday. A Grammy win secures a sequel project. Guess you guys are in the minority that weren’t feeling it.
I’ve never understood how people say Nas hasn’t delivered after Illmatic. Stillmstic, I Am, the lost tapes, Gods son and Distant relatives are all amazing in my opinion.
Only thing you talked about the entire review was production. Never mentioned some of the crazy lines Nas dropped and some of the tracks on the album were never talked about at all
I honestly prefer It Was Written over Illmatic, he's always held to the Illmatic standard when he has made an album that's arguably better than it right after.
@Steven Lankford What I meant was him using gout as a metaphor for aging in rap. How when your young your hungry and sharp...once you get on and have success you develop complacency lose your edge. There's no cohesive message being conveyed....like I said it's a cool album.
Lupe said he reached out to Nas to do an EP with him, and I that would be super dope. He said Nas didn't get back to him at that time. I hope that changes and they can do it, that would be amazing.
I think this is a solid project from Nas. I'll admit in the beginning the production threw me off because I thought it was a bit too clean and polished for Nas. But on the third spin I started vibing to it and it's nice to see Nas stepping out of his comfort zone and allowing himself to rhyme on different types of beats. The guest features didn't do much for me. I thought they were kinda lame, particularly Big Sean and Durk's auto tune just doesn't mix well with Nas's old school east coast style. But the good definitely outweighs the bad. We'll see how the replay value holds up.
People cling to Illmatic but not thinking he made that album while living in the projects. He can never make that another Illmatic album. While most think Illmatic is his best album I can honesty say: Stillmatic, Untitled, Distant Relatives, GodSon and It was written we’re just as good. We gotta appreciate his art in story telling instead of bashing any album that isn’t Illmatic. Btw, so far I’ve gave this album 10-15 listens and I gotta say this was a well rounded project. Something for everyone. 4.7 out 5. On a side note, Nasir was actually a dope album but most people hate Kanye so it makes sense they’ll bash that album as well. Go watch Nasir - The Film and the album will make more sense to you.
Actually I think most are saying IWW is best album. That album made nas a Superstar. Only haters and nerds think illmatic is his only great album. Nas wouldn't be nas today if illmatic was his only great album.
Thought this album was dope. I find it difficult to see Ken/Rod point, but I understand subjectivity. And Myke said it well - it ain't album of the year, but it's a dope ass album.
Man, this album is FIRE. I think this is the only review I've seen anywhere that criticized the production, like what? Also, Im stunned that more people don't mention "Till the War is Won". This is the ultimate tribute to our black women and our black people as a whole. That beat is so soulful and the singing is nice and I'm not really into stuff like that. Song can literally bring tears to your eyes if you listen to it and think of the struggles of our single mothers and our people over all. Beautiful song. And I'm usually not into songs like Replace Me or All Bad but at the same time, I can relate to both of these songs to the fullest so I love them.
Hit-Boy killed this and even got Nas to put on for the I.E. (Inland Empire). Legend. Also, I agree that Spicy didn't fit the album and that's why it was a "bonus" but man that shit went off. I don't usually like when Nas tries to be more commercial but that shit worked.
This is a good album that Nas critics (worst beat picker) said they wanted for years. The mainstream variety sound without attempting to reach for full commercial.
A lot of people still make this mistake when it comes to Nas. Nas isn't the type of rapper that needs overproduction, it doesn't particularly work with his flow. Can hitboi make better beats? For sure, but these beats work better for Nas. A more recent typical example will be Nas on Echo or Queensbridge politics. That's where his voice flourishes.
I think Ken and Rod should listen to it a couple more times. The album is called "King's Disease"... Nas explained King's Disease as the physical adverse effects of living too much of "the good life". That's why the music sounds "nice, fluffy, luxurious extc"... the music is supposed to sound like the King's Disease.
I loved this album personally. I will say that ever since I heard Nas on Khaled's Nas Album Done.. I wanted that level of extravagant yet soulful production. That's why Nasir was so disappointing.
They talked so much about the Hit-Boy production (which was amazing), they didn't even talk about the actual songs or what Nas was talking about throughout the album lol

Not my favourite album by Nas, but in terms of all of Nas’s albums this for me had the best balance between lyricism and generally good sounding tracks.
Ya’ll just have to admit it. Nas is not going to do another Illmatic. Go listen to Illmatic if you want that sound again. Nas is not gonna rap on everything that is boom bap. He’s a versatile artist. People got mad when he raps on commercial beats. Idk why but he sounds great on anything.
Nas still got it! Don't undestand when people say he only has 2 classics, when he has like 5 classics under his belt. Anyways, here's my Top 5 list: 1. Nas 2. Black Thought 3. MF DOOM 4. Lupe Fiasco 5. Elzhi
It’s too soon to say if King’s Disease is a classic. But Nas has more than 2 classics. Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, Life is Good, and you can throw Untitled in there.
Any real hip hop fans know Nas has 3 5 mic albums and those are Illmatic IWW and Stillmatic. He had some arguable albums like thr lost tapes but life is good is for a fact an arguable classic album.
I was fine with big sean but Durk felt like rock in a country song. The production was fine in my opinion and i agree it felt safe. God's Son
Life Is Good are great too and this is just another addition to his quality projects. And if we're being real, he only has 1 album that's truly bad.
Its annoying that people list Illmatic as his only Classic Album. Nas has been the most critical MC.
It’s only trolls like DJ Vlad who say dumb shit like that
Distant Relatives with Damian Marley was great too.
@@TripleSeven777Life facts
I think its because Nas set the bar so high with Illmatic. But yeah you right Nas got a bunch of classics
I love AZ on this
As a big Nas fan, I really enjoyed this album. Nas rapped his ass off on this, and yes the production fit him perfectly on King’s Disease.
Facts
The album was fine but I did want more beats like “Nas Album Done”.
We're all waiting for album like this
No!!! This album is Nas in his bag. He sounds so comfortable.
@Black Monty Burns I want this too. Especially with Royce on the Production end. I'm basing that off "Upside Down!" Royce spazzed on both ends well enough that this is is some shit that needs to happen!
I think this was one of the best nas albums. Its been in rotation since it dropped.
Nas announced King’s Disease 2 coming out next Friday. A Grammy win secures a sequel project. Guess you guys are in the minority that weren’t feeling it.
they must please just stay away from reviewing that. pleeeeease
Nas just can't win. Period. He's damn near 50. A 50-year-old rapper can only give you so much.
Old niggaz is stuck on Illmatic. He’s no longer living in the projects, he can never make another Illmatic. Appreciate his storytelling.
The only 2 songs I didn’t like was replace me and all bad, that was because of the features. Hit-Boy and nas done there thing
I’ve never understood how people say Nas hasn’t delivered after Illmatic. Stillmstic, I Am, the lost tapes, Gods son and Distant relatives are all amazing in my opinion.
End of the beginning check your ears, man. Those are one of the best songs on the album because of how smooth the features B
He's 46, and the album was great
Don Toliver killed his feature
16 minutes in, they're still talking about the production...dafuq..
Edit: I was laughing so hard at 20:35
I wish Nas did an album that sounded like Echo. I’m still playing that record.
Echo qas super dope
Ken is buggin! This album was fire💥💥💥
Kings Disease II drops August 6th. We need a review for that as soon as it drops.
Ken didn't even like Life Is Good . it's obvious he thinks Nas only has one good album .
Ken's take are ridiculous sometimes! I throw his thoughts to the side!
Life is good is a classic album ...
I fucked with it
@@finetrust623 facts un my eyes
Life is good ranks 3rd on my list
Classic album indeed
Never had an issue replaying this album front to back
Only thing you talked about the entire review was production. Never mentioned some of the crazy lines Nas dropped and some of the tracks on the album were never talked about at all
This was waste of a review
Facts!
I honestly prefer It Was Written over Illmatic, he's always held to the Illmatic standard when he has made an album that's arguably better than it right after.
I'm setting up a kickstarter to buy Myke a mask that fits.
Can’t wait for the King disease 2 review
Bruh. You and me both. It’s his best album since Hip Hop is Dead imo. Can’t wait for their review
@@TheRealLeonardWashington I got life is good over hip hop is dead easily
@@TheRealLeonardWashington Lyrically or musically!!!!!!
GREAT ALBUM I DONT KNOW WHAT THEYS 2 DUDES TALKING ABOUT
It's a cool album. I thought he could have really went somewhere with the Kings Disease theme that didn't really happen.
@Steven Lankford Yea drink Akaline water.....eat cherries...... super deep....hard to catch.
@Steven Lankford What I meant was him using gout as a metaphor for aging in rap. How when your young your hungry and sharp...once you get on and have success you develop complacency lose your edge. There's no cohesive message being conveyed....like I said it's a cool album.
I just got home from work. Perfect timing!!
Lupe said he reached out to Nas to do an EP with him, and I that would be super dope. He said Nas didn't get back to him at that time. I hope that changes and they can do it, that would be amazing.
damn nas ghosted him?
@@yubbityyubba7749 he must've Let Nas Down 😭
@@TraverseRaps lol
@@yubbityyubba7749 nas has history of ghosting dudes he did it to Jay z,Biggie, O.C, and now Lupe
10 Points solidified Nas iconic status as one of the greatest emcees that ever touched the mic.
Facts!
Damn man. I guess don't make an classic so early in your career. People don't ever get past it.
MJ I mean, you can’t say people Nasir because of the Kanye hate, when Nas himself said that the album felt rushed.
Actually I think most are saying IWW is best album. That album made nas a Superstar. Only haters and nerds think illmatic is his only great album. Nas wouldn't be nas today if illmatic was his only great album.
Stillmatic can go neck to neck with illmatic
I think Stillmatic is his best album tbh
I miss nasty nas:( i hope he would collab with griselda..
If we can get Nas on Daringer, Alchemist, Madlib beats🔥
@jay Marbles WORD?!!!??!!
This is all I ask for is for!! Would love to hear Nas on an alchemist beat again
I agree with Ken. The beats weren’t that great. The album was solid, but the beats were lacking
Agreed
I respect critics...but sometimes there are just critiques for the sake of having critiques.
Big facts
New thumbnails looking fire. Can’t wait to watch this
Thought this album was dope. I find it difficult to see Ken/Rod point, but I understand subjectivity. And Myke said it well - it ain't album of the year, but it's a dope ass album.
What would you say are front runners for album of the year?
@@argeecrowell2502
For me personally, I'd say:
Freddie Gibbs - Alfredo
Run The Jewels - RTJ4
Royce Da 5'9 - The Allegory
@@PedroHernandez-sx2ck
I need to get on that Freddie Gibbs project. Keep forgetting. But I like your list.
@Shockheadd45
🤨. Okay.
King's Disease is definitely album of the year. Then Alfredo.
I have nothing bad to say about HitBoy's production on this album.
This DID NOT age well. Grammy Family Stand Up!
I wanna hear JAY-Z and Nas album produced by no ID
Hit-Boy killed this and even got Nas to put on for the I.E. (Inland Empire). Legend. Also, I agree that Spicy didn't fit the album and that's why it was a "bonus" but man that shit went off. I don't usually like when Nas tries to be more commercial but that shit worked.
Why do people always have unrealistic expectations when nas drops an album ? I never see the same energy when other OG rappers drop.
Eminem gets that energy too.
Yeah if Nas rapped on some Rick Ross type production, it would be flawless. He would float on those type of beats.
@@sanantoballa4834 ugh yes. Those Rozay type beats. He has the greatest and best ever rap voice to me. Just let it be an instrument.
Agree 100%.
Definitely one of Nas's best produced albums by far
I'd like to hear nas over roc marci production. Roc had been trying to work with him for a while
I missed B being happy about an album. Glad he enjoyed this one 🙏🏼
LOL... "it wasnt black enough"
This album has so much depth it’s crazy!!!!
Definitley should listen to it a few more times. I had this on shuffle in the whip and it grew on me.
This dude is bugging. This album is fire from top to bottom.
Trippin. Not giving HIT-BOY his props
Great album overall. Looking forward to what he'll be doing next, which I haven't felt that way about Nas in a minute.

20:57 lmaoooo the way feefo said that
Nas still got it! Don't undestand when people say he only has 2 classics, when he has like 5 classics under his belt. Anyways, here's my Top 5 list:
1. Nas
2. Black Thought
3. MF DOOM
4. Lupe Fiasco
5. Elzhi
I give him 3 classics in his catalog: Illmatic, It Was Written, and Stillmatic in my opinion.
It’s too soon to say if King’s Disease is a classic. But Nas has more than 2 classics. Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, Life is Good, and you can throw Untitled in there.
Respect for including Elzhi, one of the best and most underrated emcees of all time.
Elzhi is so underrated, especially in Detroit.
Any real hip hop fans know Nas has 3 5 mic albums and those are Illmatic IWW and Stillmatic. He had some arguable albums like thr lost tapes but life is good is for a fact an arguable classic album.
I'm a dedicated fan of you all because of your interest in hip-hop and the individual honesty from each one of you. Peace and Love
PLEASE REVIEW VIC MENSAS EP
I was fine with big sean but Durk felt like rock in a country song. The production was fine in my opinion and i agree it felt safe. To me it was like the producer wanted to give nas something Nas would like that sound older but also sounds like todays rap\hip hop. He honestly did a good job at that i just do not enjoy todays sound in rap.
I completely agree if he had kept the tone he opened up with i would have enjoyed this more
Love to see AZ get his respect and love! Mike was hilarious when he named his full name
