  • Getting modules and receivers on the 900Mhz frequencies for ELRS has always been more challenging than on 2.4Ghz. It seemed to lack much support from RC manufacturers. Great news, this is no longer the case, as RadioMaster has stepped into the game with 3 modules and 2 receivers. Let's take a look!

      Yeah - the weather is a pain. Honestly, I don't know if any "real" flying will get done now before 2024. Even when it's not raining, it's just about to, and/or windy, and the ground is so wet that even a perfect landing can cover a model in mud!

    Set phasers to stun at 22:53 lol, great review as normal. Looking forward to your 7inch LR testing. Weather permitting. I notice many ELRS ext.modules can power up via USB, can this be used to power module via phone style 5v battery bank during use to save remotes battery like a radiomaster pocket. Or it needs more voltage? Ampage? As 1000mW with fan on seems to drain remote battery quickly.

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  6 місяців тому

      That is a good question, and RadioMaster don't seem to have published power draw on the modules at this point. I powered it up via 1A 5v USB, but that wasn't running anything, so the question is will it be able to do much on just 2.1A on 5v from a powerbank. Don't know at this point I'm afraid. One of the reasons the Boxer has become my daily radio is the 6000mAh 2S that I've got in the back of it, that thing will run for days. You can, of course, plug 2-4S into the module via an XT30 to dave your TX battery though

    Hi. Do you know if these modules can work with radiomaster RP2-V2 elrs receivers apart from the BR ones? thank you

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  4 місяці тому +1

      They can't - simple reason is because the RP ones are 2.4Ghz and this is an 868/916Mhz TX

      I got that figure from RadioMaster. In the previous ones that I've seen on things like 1.2Ghz, they had a wider spread and it was literayy just the case of making sure you were in front all of the time.

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  Місяць тому +1

      Depends is the answer - you don't really go into enough detail of what you want to do or what you've actually ordered. So the TX12 comes in an ELRS or a CC2500 version. Both are on 2.4 - one is ELRS the other has multiple protocols (but not ELRS) If you want to run 868 or 915Mhz in ELRS - as featured in this video, then yes - you will need a module

    • @cesarango01
      @cesarango01 Місяць тому

      @@CurryKitten Okay. I am getting the ELRS version. Thanks for the info! Now, looking at modules. I have an old 9m module, but I don't think it's worth the trouble of flashing it. Might do it as a project in the near future. I don't have a good record with the internals of radios and I have seen some inner soldering necessary for the module. I hesitate. Have a good day.

    Been informed by UK main agent HobbyRC that Radiomaster not supplying 868mhz modules to UK, ( they not listed on radiomaster website also) i'm a bit confused ? 😵‍💫

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  6 місяців тому

      As I explained tin the video, they aren't releasing this as an 868 module as they can't run it with a lower power output (minimum is 100mw) which means they can't run LBT and won't get a CE mark. however, the module is the module - you just flash the 868 or the 915 firmware on it. The antenna also work on both frequencies.

      Mine too. I was confused, it was a lipo that was at storage charge so I thought "Yeah, it's not full, but shut up, it's not empty either". When I plugged it into a charger I found that one of the cells was registering nothing, so I'm guessing it thought it was a 4S running at around 10v and freaked out

    Its great to see RM supporting 868/915, I own two R9M modules, one running stock R9 firmware and the other is on ELRS, the range of new Rx's RM is putting out is welcome, just wish you did not show us those shiny Jr modules, makes me want to buy something that i really should not be buying given i have what i have, i must resist!
    A video showing RM's full range of ELRS 900 Rx's would be good, i think they have some that have PWM outputs and are suitable for craft without a FC, i used Matek CRSF to PWM boards on two Rx's to get that functionality due to nothing else being available at the time.

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  6 місяців тому

      Sorry - the new shiny stuff is nice though isn't it :) Right now, just those two RX's are RM's complete range of the 868/915 gear, so hopefully we'll see some more coming

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  3 місяці тому

      It's much easier to get a control signal further than a VTX signal - as you can drop off quite far and still have a signal vs a lot of static. You can always add and external module to the MT12 if you want more power

      It's pleasant to have a diversity 1.3 VRx available but unfortunately both of them are only switching between the two antennas.

    This new Bandit modules do not support 868. Radio master could not get 868 to work correctly to meet power requirement for Europe. . That's why only 915MHz is available to buy. You can't run 915 mhz in Europe legally. It only has 915 FCC approval!

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  6 місяців тому

      Did you watch the video? I covered this from around 18:47 868 is supported, but it won't get CE approved because it doesn't want to work on a low power mode, and hence no LBT mode. Buying the 915 doesnt mean you are stuck on 915, you can flash it to 868 and the antennas are designed for both frequencies
