I use only Crossfire, on all my 20 something rigs. I'll stay with them, because of the quality, reliability and support... Crsf is super easy to update and manage. Consistency is key.
Thousands of flight hours in sketchy and dangerous conditions... and not a SINGLE failsafe.
    I will never switch.

I love my crossfire module, and i also love my TBS Tango 2 as well for portable Crossfire lol..
The 2.4ghz ELRS TX Module is going to be sitting on the Bench soon as I only really use it for my ELRS Tinywhoops.
I went back to Crossfire.. I do like Elrs but it didnt seem to have better range and the Dynamic Power was always so slow to respond causing constant LQ errors at every power level step which is just annoying and misleading..
Even at 1W fixed output power it still did not give me the Range and Penetration to out fly my O3 video which is kinda crazy..
Looks like Crossfire FTW! Its also supposed to be getting some updates soon, and im assuming theyre going to continue fine-tuning the Tracer module which is kind of like 2.4ghz crossfire, with the lower latency of a 2.4ghz RC Link.

I flew EzUHF back in the day on 450mm quads but the receivers and antennas were huge and didn't survive my switch to mini quads. I flew FrSky for a few years before switching to a Crossfire nanoTX and it's been flawless for me. I finally had to replace my FrSky X-Lite and I got a Radiomaster Boxer Max with ELRS. I'll be trying out ELRS (mostly for the smaller antennas) but I'm not converting any of my Crossfire machines over...don't break what isn't broken. Also, the automatic RX updates are a killer feature for Crossfire that ELRS needs to copy.

Great discussion of these systems. I’ve been using Crossfire for the last few years and it’s been awesome. On my latest build however I’m using ExpressLRS. I’ll likely continue to use both systems in the future. I sure hope that TeamBlackSheep can continue to supply Crossfire gear at competitive prices! Thanks for the video.

I was wondering if I should just buy their 2.4gh module and reciever or wait and see if they release pwm recievers for 915mhz elrs. Thanks

TBS is just works. The ease of updating is a big plus. Also came from EZUHF and DL. It's nice to have stuff that just works. TBS ecosystem and integration is incredible. As long as Trappy's making stuff, I'll be a customer. The one thing that would be nice is higher bandwidth telem built in, for running Ardu builds. TBS just doesn't have the bandwidth to make it really usable. If they could somehow get the performance of an RFDesign style module, I'd probably make the switch.

Awesome info Justin and I’m digging this format for covering stuff 👍 Related to this, I hear all the time putting the antenna on the back of a long range quad but in my very unscientific testing front mount is substantially better. With the antenna at the back when you turn back towards yourself you put the entire quad and huge battery (if top mounted) between you and the antenna but at the front the antenna is always clear. What do you think?

I have had the TBS Crossfire with the Nano RX's and like 2 Micros RX's and I have 2.4ghz ELRS now as well with a Module. I think the setup on ELRS is pretty easy with the Wifi updating and binding, but still definitely not as easy as just pressing a Bind button on the TBS stuff..
I havent been super impressed with the new ELRS so far, except for how well it does on like a 1s Tinywhoop with the tiny ceramic antenna, but you could do the same with the tiny Nano RX as long as there's an open port.
Im still undecided if im going to stop using Crossfire, ill probably end up using both. Maybe these newer 900mhz ELRS modules will change things and it seems like it already has but i guess we'll see how it works out in different environments and how the durability is on the TX side and the RX side.

Yes, I stayed away from elrs and stuck with Crossfire for several years. But I just recently helped a friend transition from 1.2G analog and 433Mhz link into the digital world (DJI), and I found it hard to recommend spending the money on TBS hardware without even giving ELRS a try, especially when we don't really fly far, and with ELRS coming almost for free if you're buying a new transmitter. Yes, TBS is way more user friendly than ELRS, but ELRS setup isn't that bad for anyone who has to deal with iNav anyway. Will range be enough with the 2.4G elrs? Not sure, no link loss so far, but we're limited to 250mW with the Tx16s built-in module, and it feels like we're getting close. Might need to get an external 1w module, or switch to 915mHz after all.

I’m willing to experiment that’s what got me started using TBS moving over from UHF.
I mean, I could be the guy sitting around saying I’m gonna use UHF forever. I’m never using TBS that a bunch of junk that’s not well tested like UHF.
Or you can take them on to be open to things test and find out that maybe there’s something better out there after all. And then again, maybe it’s not maybe some stuff better. Maybe some stuff needs some work. But it is open source and that’s exciting.
