They're both great choices. I just wish mid sized trucks weren't so expensive.
Their base models aren’t too bad being low 30k
Don't get the "trim package only" Desert Boss package and you can get a ZR2 for high $40k-low $50k (my fully-loaded with power moonroof/tinted windows/clearbra/wheel locks was $53k).
Ford Ranger it’s already on sale in states… also it has 405 hp:) I sow yesterday at dealership. 3k mark up. If you get one close to Msrp you have to do your home work ( research and negotiate price). Don’t listen those naysayers who do bla,bla about you can’t get Ranger Raptor unless you pay 10-20k mark up. Also If you think the Ranger Raptor is small or big size you are wrong, it’s perfect size! I sit in it already and awesome size and cool interior… great exterior design 👌🏼I think it look the best in class.
You did a comparison in your basement with brochures . That is not much help . Drive them back to back on road , off road , hill climbs , rock garden , sand , mud , snow . Do a live video drive comparison .

Ford did the work; design, suspension, and actually giving the Raptor an exclusive engine.
GM saw the success of the 4Runner and copied the front end vibe. And I'll never pay $60k for a 4 cylinder with turbos. That keeps me away from the GM twins and Tacoma.
The Tacoma is the only one that'll last you a million miles, but you're right about the Ranger being a better truck performance and design-wise.
@@ForzaMonkey I own a 2001 Tacoma 3.4L and 2010 4Runner 4.0L, so understand this comes from a Toyota lover. The current gen Ranger and 4th gen Taco will not have dramatically different longevities. The planned obsolescence is real and the complexity of these small displacement turbo motors in both trucks is not for the consumer's benefit.

Near fully loaded ZR2 [no sunroof] can be had for $52K. Considering that a Rav4 can reach that price; the ZR2 is a great value.
I'll take the ZR2. I don't live anywhere near a desert, I can get the Bison package, and it's far better looking than Ranger.
Zr2 in Canada 63k ,Raptor starts at more than 80k!!! that’s for a mid size truck with some extras it’s going to be 90k !!! That’s insane.
in south africa full options is $64k but converted from ZAR[zuid-afrika rand] so in zar its R1,200,000

I ordered the 24 Colorado Bison. They are all VERY good trucks but the Raptors styling is a massive disappointment to me. Very generic. I also don't like vertical screens and having the lockers in the screen without actual hard buttons is weird. I just wish the Colorado had the same 100,000 mile warranty on the engine as it does in the Silverado. No big deal as its solid as it's built like a diesel so it should last forever. I might like the Raptor more once they do midcycle update. Curious to see the price and capability'on the TRD Pro and Trailhunter.
As a current owner of a 2019 Bison, I was very interested in the 2024 Bison. My truck has been excellent since new & currently has 85k miles, with many trail miles. Really wish GM would have put the 35 inch spare under the bed like the previous generation, I use mine as a daily driver and can’t lose that much bed space when you want to run a bed cover. Ranger Raptor allows a 35 inch tire under the bed, so I ordered one and will give it a try. Agree with your comment on the locker switches on the screen, prefer hard switches…hope GM and Ford are reading these comments on UA-cam, these trucks are getting better every generation, with the exception of price!

It would be nice to see a Ranger Raptor and a Colorado ZR2 in a 2 door regular cab 6' bed configuration. Today's not so midsized trucks look very disproportionate, to me, with their huge cabs and tiny beds.
What do you think is the ideal bed size for midsize crewcabs?

I don't like that the top bit of the running lights on the Raptor curve slightly downwards towards the centre. It makes them look broken rather than if they were flat..
May I ask what are you referring to when it comes to looking broken, since I can't imagine how a light being/looking broken is indicated by the perspective of the shape of it
The ZR2 looks way better, ZR2 looks better without that sports bar on the back and without the front push bar!
I'm from the Philippines and we already got the 2nd gen Ranger Raptor here, but we only have the 2.0L turbo and Bi-turbo diesel engine. However, it still sells like hotcakes along with the Hilux GRS, eventhough we didnt get the v6 diesel.
I will said this about both these midsize trucks , they both are great looking trucks! Very similar in each ! One big exception it’s the raptor has a 3.0 6 cylinder 410 horse power that’s a 100 over the zr2 , but! The zr2 has nice power to it, since it has 2.7 turbo max and has a lot of torque in! But the stealer ships are anywhere from 10,000 over sticker! On the raptors so you easily over at least 10,000-15,000 over the ZR2 so , sorry to say nothing holds it value , not even a ranger raptor, it’s like my Harley when I owned one it does not hold its value! It’s a motor vehicle!

Very subjective. I’m on the east coast, so really no use for the Raptor’s appeal. If I lived out west, that would be different. Really don’t like the look of any Ford trucks, they look outdated to me. Also, the ZR2 is like $7k cheaper. Both great trucks though, and it’s a great time to be a truck enthusiast, although I really wish you could spec all these rigs with a manual transmission.
gm needs a v6 I prefer the chevy in every way except for the powertrain and transmish. i daily a 5.3 trail boss so cutting the motor in half is a massive ick for me
Sir the 5.3 v8 is gutless.
The 2.7L is an upgrade over the 5.3L. Way more usable power out of the turbo4.
For these top trim models, I think the Ranger Raptor gets the design win versus the ZR2, but for the lower tier trucks, I think the Colorado is the better looking truck. The regular Ranger is too rounded just kind of boring looking. Then there is the GMC Canyon which I think actually has the best design of all three.
Have you seen Hyundai ioniq5 N eN1 cup car?
When I see straight top part fenders on truck that’s big turn off for me, I think it looks much better and balanced if it’s round following shape of wheel. Like Ford always does 👌🏼

@@jonahfastre I disagree- it’s a timeless design it’s more conservative and understated but a simple square design never goes out of style, meanwhile the more curvy and exotic looking grills will eventually age out. Nothing lasts longer than a traditional flat grill with a big ford badge
If the zr2 had the 3.0 diesel and 10 speed it would be wayyyy better

Raptor starts at 55k. Probably end up closer to 58k with options. Loaded ZR2 is maybe 52k. If money matters.
Loaded zr2 can actually be more expensive than the RR. If you spec the zr2 to have everything the RR has and even a few extra creature comforts it’s basically the same price.
@@keithhunt3437 I was going to buy a ZR2. It was fully loaded. 53k including destination. I built a Raptor. 59k and I only added different wheels and a spray in bed liner. So 6k different. Really just depends on the person and what matters to you. I ended up getting an AT4X so I spent the extra over the ZR2. Just barely cheaper than the Raptor.
Weird cuz I built a zr2 online with out the bison package a got to 60k but I bought a ranger raptor and the sticker with destination was 57,700

Did you miss the 2024 ZR2 ? Basically the same as the 2023 yes but comes with 35" Tires, more of a direct comparison to the Raptor. Chevy needed to up that HP for the ZR2 for sure but I'd take the ZR2 but I'm probably bias while owning a Trail Boss and love it's performance, styling looks just so much better as well to me. Good job comparison.
Pretty sure the 35’s only available on the bison. The raptor has 33’s
@@real-talk_5304 Correct, I just got a 2024 ZR2 with 33's (although I think 34's will fit, even for the spare) and only the Bison has 35's and the spare must be carried in the bed...no bueno.
ZR2 wins easily for price point and reliability…2.7L turbo is proven durable.

2.7 on its own is probably half decent for reliability because it doesn’t make much HP however the rest of the truck is Gm garage. That I promise u. You’d know what I’m talking about if u ever owned a gm product

I seriously considered which one of these truck I’d choose and I’d have to go with the Tacoma TRD Pro.

@@MickMars01 Got about 760mi on it so far, probably averaging 17mpg in mixed conditions, still breaking it in. A few annoying things in that you have to go to the menu for basically everything, but so far I love it. I got mine in blue, fully loaded w/power moonroof, clearbra, tinted windows, and wheel locks for the $53k MSRP, no markup. Best of luck!

Personally, much prefer the Raptor. Its all about the driving experience and its not close. Think the ZR2 is better looking on the outside, but worse on the inside.
That 10speed is trash. It has too much gear that it just shifts too much and so dumb that it doesn’t know what gear to be in.
Ranger Raptor looks like a kid's car. F150 Raptor much better looking, same with the ZR2
Between both I would buy the Tacoma

@@freedomisntfree_44 think what you want i am not wasting time last year i pulled my 21 foot camper trailer in the moutains here in canada on gravel roads weight 4500~ lbs on gravel roads plenty of power no frame bents with my 23 canyon elevation .. you guys are talking about a truck that have hardly abuse in baja with 35" tires on big bumps and jump on a muled test truck ... my truck did good see ya and buy a ranger if you want to nowa days we can't trust new vehicles .. so just take wich poison you prefer ... kids that think chevy , ford toyota is better well sorry ill say no .. so take the one you like more and crossed finger you have a good one ... have a nice day👌👍
