      @Rspec_randy Thanks for the question. As far as compliance by State laws I cannot answer that as I am not versed in that detail, but I know California has some of the most restricted consumer laws in the country. Check out a CA government website for accurate info regarding your question. The rifle has a 14.5" SOCOM heavy barrel and a 1.6" extended flash hider to make it 16.1" and is legally a rifle by law because the flash hider is pinned and welded. This one was made in 2022, so don't think it is really an LE6920, although it is stated on the box as the legal description. I like to think it is, so I'll leave it there. Regardless, the quality, functionality, and reliability is what you would expect from Colt. The upper is clearly marked M4. I wanted this one for the property markings, and Colt has been a long-time partner with the military contracts. That is one of about ten reasons I picked this. Looks the part and has the parts. I appreciate the comment, and I appreciate you.

    I have a 2018 Colt SOCOM, still new in the box, I bought a SOCOM upper from Sharks and put on my 6920, ACOG, surefire light, CQD sling attachments, I use it as my range gun. My 2018 has the C marked upper before they started the cage code. The barrel is stamped 06/17, so my upper was probably a 17.

Glad colt/cz listened and gave the people what we want. Which is m4 marked not carbine lol. As far as the differences between this and my old 6920. Very subtle changes. Like selector stops on mine milled down, rollmark on mine isn’t pretty whereas the newer ones are laser marked. I have just bought one of these. I really love it. It looks like quality. I will say though that I am VERY new to Colt rifles. My first AR rifle is my DPMS and there seems to be a world of difference between them. I must say though that when I first loaded it up I struggled to unload the round in the chamber. Im not sure if I was just not pulling back hard enough or if this rifle just needs to be "broken in" aka shot a few times to loosen things up. Im also needing to hit my foward assist a little to help load my first round in. If you have any pointers it would be appreciated. Thank you.

    • @404tactical7
      @404tactical7  11 місяців тому +2

      Well that isn't normal operation for any rifle new out of the box. I've never used the forward assist. Try this-remove the magazine, pull the charging handlle back, and lock bolt in open position. With the dust cover down, shine a light in there and see if everything looks right and no obstruction either. Next-try a new magazine and see if everything is good after that. If not try some different ammo. AR rifles like to be lubed, so make sure you drop some oil in and around the chamber and make sure the bolt carrier group is well oiled but not dripping. That is where I would begin.

    • @Patriot1776American
      @Patriot1776American 11 місяців тому

      @404tactical7 I tried using 55 grain fmj's. I can get them out but I REALLY have to pull back the charging handle. I mean HARD. It's to the point were on one occasion I had to fire the round in the chamber to get the round to eject. Im gonna get in contact with Colt on Monday. I would like to get my rifle shipped back to the factory to be looked at. I absolutely love the rifle but I want this looked at.

    just picked up my Colt SOCOM a few days ago. To my disappointment, there is a little wobble on the upper and lower receiver. An AR15 that cost $1500 ( tax, shipping, transfer not included) should not have a loose upper and lower receiver. I've owned several Colt ar15 and they didnt wobble, several Bushmaster ..no wobble, Daniel Defense...no wobble. Am I being too OCD? I can expect a wobble from a $500 ar15, not from a $1500 ar15. What do you think?

      Being in the army and doing tours in Iraq, my m4s had wobble between the upper and lower. With this rifle, you are paying for a clone of a grunts military rifle, not fit and finish of a high end commercial rifle.

      Don’t worry about the wobble. Every colt I’ve ever shot or inspected had some. It’s kinda like slide rattle on pistol. Really not a big deal and will not affect accuracy. In fact will most likely enhance reliability. My 2 cents, lol.

    • @404tactical7
      @404tactical7  Рік тому +1

      A E, there is some wobble between upper and lower. May be due to the size of take down pins or just loose tolerances as the cause. Can be corrected with a wedge that can be fitted in the rifle. These rifles are mil-spec and not ballroom Cinderellas so if it does not affect the safety or accuracy of the rifle I would not worry about it. That is my opinion. Thanks for the comments.

      @riiddisbuk2496 I appreciate the feedback, and thanks for the 223rd comment. As far as the A2 pistol grip goes, maybe it's just nostalgiac or familiar, and that is why it keeps appearing on different rifles. Maybe the Marines wanted something different back in '83 as they were the first to adopt the rifle or maybe it was the weight or better stability who knows. Someone for sure knows, but I can only guess. I'll search some forums for a better answer. Appreciate the question.

I generally get the same accuracy but only shoot at 74 feet distance at the indoor range or on occasion an outdoor range that I can get out to 100 yards. Surely at longer distances accuracy would be affected more. A rifle with free float hand guards (some term as free float barrel) will give better accuracy but other things affect accuracy as well such as barrel length or the barrel being thicker or thinner. Barrel whip is different with longer barrels or thinner barrels etcetera. I will be trying out a BCM upper with 13 or 15" free float MLOK or KMOD. I haven't decided yet. Chrome lining on a barrel and cold hammer forging also affect accuracy as well as right grain weight projectile for your specific rifle and barrel twist rate. It's all a bit of trial and error. That rifle is not an LE 6920, it's a CR 6920. I know it says so on the box labels, but look at the serial number. Original LE 6920s as made by Colt before being bought out by CZ had serial numbers begining with LE. General consensus is that CZ Colts are not made with all parts manufactured by by Colt but rather outsourced from various vendors. Big difference.

      Yep I am of the differences in mil-spec, quality control, outsourced parts and all of that. The older rifles produced prior to 2012 were all manufactured by Colt with Colt parts. Not saying anything about the quality now just know they are different but a lot of changes occurred after the M4 contract went to FN. I knew what I was buying before I made the purchase, and I liked the rifle because it had parts and markings other rifles didn't have. This one is marked 4U486 which is the cage code for P&S. There are some with 13629 and 4U486 on the same stock. This one was has the generic round medallion on the side. It is very plasticky feeling. I replaced it with a B5 Systems Enhanced SOPMOD stock.

    What does the keyhole mean??

    • @404tactical7
      @404tactical7  5 місяців тому +1

      Cerro Fabricated Products makes the raw forging with this keyhole mark. This raw forging is supplied to companies, like Colt, RRA, DPMS and Bushmaster who actually finish the receiver. There are generally 3 companies that create the raw forging. They all do quality work. The upper receiver forgings are all essentially the same, they simply come from different forging houses. The quality of the upper receiver ultimately comes from the manufacturer that CNC machines the raw forging into the upper. The company that applies the anodizing is then responsible for how well the finish of the upper becomes. Hope this helps

    Colt needs to learn branding. You come out with an historical rifle and you can’t spend a couple bucks on the box? Palmetto State Armory has really cool boxes. The Chinese AK is so good you want to keep it.
    Some people don’t care, but it helps build a company’s brand. Apple is successful because they understand design and branding of their packaging.
    Cool gun nonetheless.

    The Pony is dead..its been probably 15+ since Colt was the Benchmark not since they lost their Government contracts..they farm out practically everything nowadays and they do not have the same Quality Control Standards as years past. They don't require MPC on their bolts..no thx much better choices nowadays out there for a much better rifle and better parts. Colt is a shadow of its former self.

    • @404tactical7
      @404tactical7  11 місяців тому

      @aldo-228-For sure they cannabalized their rifle manufacturing line in the last decade. I have had ZERO issues with older Colts when everything was made in-house and ZERO issues with ones made in the recent era with everything contracted out. Agree that there are higher quality rifles out there for the $$. S&W, Ruger or FN rifles are no better or worse for the price. I have a PSA15 that won't cycle Steel case ammo and an IWI X95 that gets really inaccurate after 50 rounds (but only sometimes). I have no concerns on the Colts I run. May not be all put together by the Old Pony Rifle maker but they aren't asking $2-3k for their rifles anymore. Time will tell. Thanks for the comments.

    • @404tactical7

      The forging marks will only tell you the forging house that produced it. Cerro Forge = Keyhole. Other widely produced receivers have the Square or A. There are many other forging houses with various letters or symbols. The serial number is the way to identify the year that receiver /rifle was produced. If full auto, it was later variation and an upgrade from 3 round burst variant.
