Ola Ramona and Jack. What amazing hard work you have done, it ahows. Ants are an issue here PNW, Oregon. We started trying ElectroCulture. Then far far fewer, ants, aphids, flies, spiders. Many fewer Scavenger snails or slugs. Does not bother earthworms, Bees and butterfly’s. Cabbage Moths are not impacted. . So. There is Garlic. We planted garlic, single Cloves with each bed or Fruit tree. We are having greater success in return.
I would do a water and soil test to see what I’m working with. In most countries water tests are free. I saw a few of your dying plants and they didn’t die because of not enough water. You also have enough time to do a second round of potatoes. I use the hilling method. The idea is to dig a trench for the seed potatoes put them in and cover. As they grow you fill in over them with soil from the adjacent hill. This leftover soil from digging the trenches is arranged along the trench and helps keep the plants moist initially and then encourages further root growth as the plants mature.
Hi LC, thanks for your advice!🤗I did put some earth to the last potatoes in July. I didn’t understand why the plants fell over🫣🤣But now I understand🙌 So the next will be hopefully much more and better🤗. Water test costs €60 euro here so we only did that with our borehole. I think the very hard ground and cutworms did kill some plants. 🥴
Hi Ramona that worm in yhe soil is a cutworm. They clip off seedling stems near or just below the soil level. It can do great damage to your veggie garden. May be you can read more about it on google but get rid of it. I mean kill it. Your veggie garden look beautiful. Hallo to Jack as well. Granny South Africa❤
