That's about the only thing other than his attire's colours that shows that it's Ermac - him being a spirit vessel would allow for Noob Saibot to be contained within. Although... I'm not so sure a character like Noob Saibot would be so comfortable. But I digress. It's a shame they didn't really do anything to distinguish those two or Rain in any way when we don't get a full look at their powers.
I think it wasn't a Noob Saibot, basically it was one of many souls of warriors within of Ermac.

Parent got divorced in 93 when I was 8. Me and the old man would go to the movies every other weekend and play MK together at the end of every show. He’d play me a few times then hand me 5$ and go walk around to scope for single Moms doing the same 😆. I miss those days. MK will always have a special spot in my heart. I’m gonna cry when I watch the new movie when it comes out. I already know. If you’re a 80s or 90s baby the the games raised you.

What's fucked up is they actually screened it before finishing the effects. The producers claimed that the test audiences loved it SO much that they totally slashed post production and released the rough cut with the incomplete cgi. That's why the cgi looks like shit and there's so many editing errors.

can we just talk about how under appreciated SONYA is in this movie. lets start with she had to deal with losing Johnny, processing that, keeping a level head whilst being hunted, and being the voice of reason literally. She knew not too trust Jade and was the first one to call out raiden on his bs. On top of that she's literally the only earthrealm warrior that was actively in the field and killing the invaders. While Jax was fighting Cyrax she took on all the henchmen ALONE. Then still had to kill Cyrax and save jax. She killed Mileena with no help from anyone. And she took on Ermac alone and was WINNING opposed to everyone else who started off losing against their last opponent. It wasn't until she got double teamed that she needed help. Which only was just for script purposes to get her to "need help" which she hardly ever needs. and once Help came she finished and kill Ermac as well. Liu Kang is the only other person to "kill" someone Baraka kicked in the fire and Sheeva which was due to her being under the cage. My girl literally needs her flowers. Literally sit back and just watch this movie in its entirety and tell me She wasn't the MVP of the group.

Ermac wasn’t well established yet back then and was probably the worst of the palette swap ninjas, the matchup made sense at the time.
She didn't need to help. Let her fight further with two at the same time.
Looking at it now, it seems like they had Ermac use Noob Saibots ability to summon someone else to assist in the fight (Noob could summon his shadow in kombat like he could in UMK3 and Trilogy).
Yeah, some of the characters weren't written well. Smoke was another example. He could use missiles in this movie whereas he had the spear in the games. Sektor was the one who could use missiles, but he was left out of the movie altogether.
I miss them good 'ol days when arcade was around and everyone has a quarter waiting to play the winner.

the guy who played Jax actually brought a little positivity to this Movie.
This movie looks like the characters were taken right out of the games.. mayb the story wasnt accurate but the costumes, the moves n special powers, the acting, the fight choreography tho some scenes were too short the casting and the music was gold.. The best Sonya in my opinion if mk 2021 had this it wud have been a great movie

I still love this movie too! I was 6 when this first came out. I notice a lot of the mistakes now but I still enjoy watching this. Annihilation wasn't perfect but it's definitely nowhere close to being as bad as people make it sound.
