Outstanding creativity between 1980 and 1990. Echo and the Bunnymen, Psychedelic Furs,The Cure,U2,Joy Division,New Order,Simple Minds,Stranglers,The Smiths,The Jam...unbelievable bands between 1980 and 1990. Best decade music history.
Talking Heads and ELO too!
Absolutely!!!
Roxy Music
The Waterboys, Hothouse flowers. No thanks, you will like them. 👍😊
Cry before dawn, cactus world news, Big Country many many more
My Father passed away last month aged 91, he absolutely loved this song as well as the Ocean Rain album. RIP Dad.
Most sincere condolences. He was a man with fine taste in music.
Sounds like you two were connected by great music. That in itself is fantastic as I am connected with my daughter since the day she was born I had the good music playing.
27 years later we're still at the concerts and listening to the great works. May your father rest in peace and may you be happy and stay connected to him through the music.
Hope you're doing okay!
Sorry, he picked a great tune ,rip
....love
'Shiver and say the words of every lie you've heard' Ian owns perhaps greatest vocal hook ever.
If I close my eyes and think hard enough, I can go back and feel the heartbeat of being alive and listening to this in the mid 80's as a teen and early 20's. MTV was the channel to watch, it was channel 42 on my cable box. I don't think anything can beat being a teen in the 80's and enjoying John Hughes movies and feeling so ALIVE!
The LOST Boys boy we wore Rocking & Rolling
That rings so true
Yes indeed....
Same here. It brings me back to that time and place.
I try to do that every day, to some degree. Keeps me grounded.
If you were born in 1965 like me..You will know how good the 80`s were..Magical time for music..
Roy Meadows Me too. Bauhaus n psychedelic furs up there too.
Roy Meadows I was born in 72. 80's were great!
I was born in the mid seventies. There is nothing close in the world to being 10 in the middle of the eighties and being locked in a gym locker. Think Stand By Me, or The Goonies (the younger bunch).
Or even 1952
Yes I do Roy! I was born in 64. Good times!!!
Peter Louis Vincent de Freitas would have turned 60 today. 08/02/61 - 06/14/89 He was the drummer in Echo & the Bunnymen, and performed on their first five albums. Died in a motorcycle accident in 1989 at the age of 27. So very sad.. But his drumming lives on.
Born in '71, God I love this music!
Breaks my brittle heart that now I'm old...........
graduated in '72 you are not old yet!
sou de 71 tambem e nao somos velhos
Me too.
Born in 72.......we ain't old brother 👊🤝
71? Hell, you're still a baby.
I was born in '63, and I think "Crocodiles" is a near-essential album.
(Yes, I still use the word "album!)
I played this again and again and again on my Walkman, summer of age 15... and the Italian train windows half slid down, my face pressed against them, on the Northern Italian Riviera... and I could taste the Mediterranean salt water on my face and tongue... so alive... awaiting the wonders of life and love in Europa... playing The Pretty in Pink soundtrack...
Now girl, that’s what I call a memory for life 👌 Nostalgia, my favourite emotion in life 🤔
Christ 🙏 bless you and your family 🙏❤️
Michael
Killing me Julie
Echo and depeche mode helped me through the pain
of college freshman years.
Sounds like a dream! For you, I'd guess it really does feel that way. 💕
The Vocals are Fascinating!! But the Bass Line is Outta this Broken World GREAT!!!
Still as good in 2024 as it was back in the 80s
Driving home from golf yesterday and this came on randomly……I can’t tell you how loud I cranked it, and the number of times I played it. Major flashback to the best days of our lives.
Till the knob fell off
Give Echo the credit they deserve. This is absolutely my favorite song by them - the composition and layering all come together perfectly. Ian McCulloch was a musical genius. Takes me back not to better times, but to the BEST times of my life.
That hit hard. ❤
❤
Sometimes I wish 80's never ended.
Great movie!
Kevin Florer me too
What do you mean by sometimes?
No thanks, crap decade. Only high point was the music.
People back then value privacy. Now people voluntarily reveal their entire life online for the world to see.
a truly remarkable and underrated band
Human song
Very underrated ... extremely.
+emma duncan Sure, and I feel very sorry for them, they were very talented and very good at explaining feelings at all. I love them and their songs.
extremely underrated
Too right.
Still my favourite track from The Bunnymen. It never ages, sounds as good as the day it was released.
It's a great song and I'd rush to the dance floor BUT then there's Thorn of Crowns ;)
Loved the 80s and loved Echo & The Bunnymen. Brings back so many incredible memories and loved that era of music and entertainment in general. My favorite was and still is Lips like Sugar, but this song is absolutely amazing and brings back so much nostalgic feeling of going out with friends, enjoying the music and each others company and just loving life, and the best decade of our youth.
Hai dimenticato una bella pinta di birra in un pub con la sigaretta accesa
Great song.
Saw them in the mid 80s at a small but awesome venue, The Tower Theatre in Philly. The concert was the absolute💣💯
I was stationed in San Diego... 1984 at...outdoor amphitheater ECHO and The Bunnymen were playing. We didn't have tickets. We spread a blanket...opened wine... and listened. It was AMAZING!
The 80's totally rocked.......great time to be a teenager.
Indeed it was... I miss those days somewhat.. but still enjoy the music to this day. Cheers from Seattle!
Yes I remember it all
Better" Spiritual atmosphere"in the World at that time....
Yes it was, it went so fast!
even better being in your 20's and being in the clubs - BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE
As soon as their is a crisp in the air for fall season I turn on Echo and The Bunnymen, Psychedelic furs and The Church non stop. They have a great mysterious feel for the season
Yay!! I personally would add XTC - Mummer album.
This is a beautiful song. It always makes me cry, for whatever reason.
Me too ❤❤
I was born in 74 so the early to mid 80s was when I started discovering music.
It was a magical time.
The day of videotape, cassette, LCD, disc man and all that kids these days are missing not to mention the best music of all time.
Happy 63rd.. William Alfred Sergeant - Guitarist for Echo.. Born 12 April 1958 in Liverpool. Thank you for the musical life long memories. Your guitar sounds defined the E+Bm legacy.. Cheers Mate..
The days when all you needed was a cassette player and a long walk!
+Jay Martin thanx for that comment, I needed to hear somebody say it.
good old times :)
Best days to grew up
those were the best of times
your comment means a lot. thanks.
Dear Echo and The Bunnymen, I leave been a lover of your music since highschool and college. You have brought me great joy. I miss you. Much Love, Gayle Raye Bremer
I never get tired of hearing this song.
Ditto.
Agreed!
Just a shame about the video
I was born in 1969 & i was born to love music,if ever i have nothing,i will always have music, the best thing ever.❤❤
Awesome song, pure 80´s stuff. This music will live on forever and ever.
A very Grand 63rd Birthday Ian Stephen McCulloch 5 May 1959 Liverpool UK.. E+BM created some fantastic songs in the 80"s..
Many, many more Ian Stephen.. Cheers mate..
🎂🎂
Happy 64th. William Alfred Sergeant - Guitarist for Echo.. Born 12 April 1958 in Liverpool. Thank you for the musical life long memories. Your guitar sounds defined the E+Bm legacy.. Cheers Mate..
Bless your dad - it's awesome to have a father with such excellent taste in music. This touched my heart ♥
Listening to new wave music classics makes me wish that we could go back in time and experience the 80s all over again. It was a simpler time, a good time. A magical time that came and went all too soon.
So true. I wish I could go back and stay there. 😢
One of the greatest bands in the history of the world!
Very emotional as their songs often are. Love that voice ...
Not one but two of the most timeless classics ever written(to me). This song and The Killing Moon. A band sorely under appreciated.
Good call!
Don't forget their song "Ocean Rain."
All fantastic tunes.
I will also add Flowers.
This may be only me but whenever I listen to this song it makes me long for something more, something beautiful where all my hopes and dreams come true. It’s hard to describe but this song always moves me. Thank you Echo and the Bunnymen!
Yep, it's a deep longing for somthing eternal beyond ourselves.
Gabriel Camarena Yes that’s a good way of putting it. Thank you for the comment.
It always leaves me feeling rather melancholy- in a good way, of course! 🤗
Me too. One of my favourite songs ever. The energy, the antecipation, it's basically the zest and curiosity for life put into music. I love it!
Matt, I know exactly what you mean - in the German language we have a word that so perfectly nails the longing you describe that it has even been adopted by the English language without any translation at all: the word is „Weltschmerz“.
Medicine for the soul.
Thank you Echo & the bunnymen.
Sim 🙂
It sure is. God bless.
"Bring on the Dancing Horses" was the first song that I definitively knew was from Echo & The Bunnymen. It was probably early 1986 and man - LOVE at FIRST LISTEN. I didn't have the words for it then but I intuitively knew that it was something really special, mysterious, epic, and cool as F-en hell (still holds up 'til this day). I recall being so emotionally overwhelmed by it and became a life-long fan of the band's 80s output - all because of this song.
Absolutely one of the greatest songs from the 80s or any other decade for that matter.
A truly outstanding music from the 80's, almost 2022 arriving and here I am listening to this masterpiece
I would go back to the 80s in a heartbeat......
Take me with you please 🙏
This song takes me me back to my teenage years love this
This music makes me feel like I'm in a dream. One of there masterpieces.
GLORIOUS 80's. Musically speaking, a foretaste of heaven for any teenager or twenty-something lucky enough to have experienced that pivotal decade in the flesh.
I Think about it all the time. How luccky we were , I was 14 through 17 and I worked at a mall my cool boss played this all the time things use to be so diffrent we were cool, james dean would of been proud
This post punk new wave is now classic rock!!!!!!!!!!! What a gem
ua-cam.com/video/UN2zB3IRABQ/v-deo.html
The cars were like that as well
2023 and this song still hits as a hard as it did when I was a kid
Falou tudo!
FUCK YEAH
Best music days ever . Bravo .
I love this band. I was fortunate to be able to see them play here in Rio de Janeiro in 1988, still with their original formation. And the night I went to the show they played "Bring on the Dancing Horses", which they hadn't played the night before. A magical time.
Lovely. Group from Liverpool.
Best band to come out of Liverpool ever.
This band are in my top 5 based on the first 3 albums. I love that they could’ve been huge but refused to do the U2 thing. So British. So brilliant. So loved.
Plz elaborate I'm curious
@@jimdur5982 I dont know anything about U2 but mybe she means sold out? I say that bcs U2 appears to be a massively successful band. I wasnt around when they were big but I always hear their name. I also want to point out how similarly the two bands sound. Theres no way U2 was not influenced by the bunnymen. I believe they had some sortve beef for this reason but i didnt look into it
@@jimdur5982 bunnymen didn't try to break america like u2 did, they barely played any gig there. They didn't even have lengthy tour for the ocean rain album which is arguably their most popular album and the momentum they needed to be a household name. McCulloch himself said that he thought if the songs are great then they will automatically get recognisable. Meanwhile u2 toured america relentlessly because that was always their end goal and later down the road u2 also kissing ass a lot which bunnymen would never do. Personally i think if bunnymen did try to break america then they will definitely be at least as big as the cure.
That cow is adorable.
The great thing about the 80s is we are so blessed that there is so much great music to revel in via YT...Defo the best time of our young lives...i started the 80s in my late teens, such great times we experienced. We will never have that time again, not to mention the Bands and the wonderful music they created.
What a track!
80s are the greatest decade for sounds period
One of my childhood soundtracks !! Good times !!!
Never forgot this great band! They sounded just as great live in concert! Love to see them again. I miss the 80's and all the great alternative bands, The Cure, The Smiths, Peter Murphy, etc......♥️
Well we still have The Cure, what are some of the others that are on your etc list 😀
Truly gorgeous.
Here come the memories flooding back !! So glad I was a teenager in the 80s.
I always think "this is such and incredible song" every time I go to listen to it
Just woke up and this song was the soundtrack to my dream. Haunting and beautiful....
I was blessed to grow up with this band. Well during the 80s. I really thought the singer was older, like 30s during this time.
My favourite song! Echo is one of the best group on 80's
Saw them with New Order and Jean loves Jezebel in 86 , still makes me feel good when i think about. This music sounds as good today as it did then.YEAH
I saw that tour too! I Awesome!
Caroline Fritz In what city ?
franko hose'y No it's not Franko ,.......no it's not !!!
franko hose'y Clarkston, MI at Pine Knob now known as DTE Energy Music Theater.
Very cool! Did you see the New Order, Sugar Cubes, and PIL tour? Bjork jumped off the stage and ran around in the crowd. She is so tiny, like a little doll.
In the 1980s many said the music was shit. Now we realize that it truly was a “new wave” of music unlike any other decade before or after. So thankful to be a kid of the 80s.
Well. I was there - turned 17 in early '80 --- I'm afraid any True -80s' Brit teen/twentysomething will say you're talking rubbish! We had the time of our young lives in the '80s. You clearly were never there.
My god this brings me back to such a vibrant time..
The most creative decade for music
when music was arranged. beautiful.
So much creativity in the 80s
Vintage Royalty.. Visionary… Timeless. Master Works

God the SIMPLICITY of it all.
Life the rock, It years 80's .
Favourite bands of the eighties, Echo and the Bunny Bunnymen and the smiths. Great song writers, great tunes. It wasn't all Duran Duran and Dire straits. Thank God!
Favourite for me is OMD...followed by Echo &B, UB40, Elvis Costello, Big Country. Not a fan of either Duran or Dire Straits.
@@backofthedime9445 Noooooooooo:)!!! Maid Of Orleans is my F/B cover page which is full to bursting with '80s songs. Maid of Orleans is my favourite track of the '80s - absolutely fantastic tune!!! Take care yourself xx
Strongly encourage you to listen to "Making Movies" Album by dire straits. To me the Tunnel of Love side, is one of the best of all time. Huge Echo fan by the way.
What a great band.... was watching "I Don't feel at home in the World Anymore" and on comes Echo and the Bunnymen... gotta hear that again.... late 70s and 80s was a brand new era.... I was born in 59 this is still my favorite time of music....
Clássico !! Só quem realmente entende de rock conhece !!

Beauty
+emma duncan yes it is I listen to it a lot.
Clássico
Haunting vocal tones ... hypnotic musical whispers to brood my scalp ... But for a spine-jangling intensity, please please please, return to "Over the Wall" ... Saw them live in Toronto, small club, bathed in blue, almost 40 years ago, but the music isn't ... it's still ... now. Lovely, guys, lovely.
Greatest decade of music
"Lips Like Sugar" & "The Killing Moon" are my fave Echo tracks. I could listen to them forever.
Shocker
Caraca, lembro dos meus 16 anos de Vida, estudava a noite...As 18:00 começava os Vídeo clipes na extinta TV Manchete até às 19 horas,e qse todo dia tocava Echo...Q saudade 🤔🙄!!!?
Thank you Much Music in the 80’s for playing such classics
masterful tune that captures you
God I miss the 80's. The best era for music by far. Today not so much.
there will never be an era like the 80"s
JEFF? the amount of great music in all genres that came out of the 1980's is amazing....I am still waiting to hear another decade like that !
We are the lucky ones! Although prior to MTV music was a lot better...60's probably a religious experience musically..
Loved the 80's music but still thing the 70's was the best era for rock and roll. My favcorite 80's bands are The Furs, The Church, Midnight Oil to name a few. These guys are playing tomorrow night next to my office. May go to see them.
Paranoid Android 67 got that right!
Back in time and place, where college radio was the only way for me to hear "alternative" music, this song was my introduction to a world of new music. Thanks WPSU!
ESSA CANÇÃO É EXTRAORDINÁRIA ... ME DÁ VONTADE DE VIVER !!
Em tempos de quarentena pelo corona virus...ouvir issoi me da alegria
Eu sinto a mesma coisa assim que termino de ouvir la
THIS WAS ONE OF THE FIRST ECHO SONGS I HEARD... I INSTANTLY FELL IN LOVE WITH THE BAND AND ESPECIALLY THIS TUNE
I don't know how I missed out on this band until later years. I don't remember seeing them on MTV, much, or any at all. I just don't understand why they were not heavily promoted like other bands. Excellent band!!!! So many awesome tunes!!!!
One of the best!
When they were on the verge of breaking big in the American market with their hit "Lips Like Sugar," singer Ian McCullough inexplicably chose to leave the band at that crucial moment. They found a replacement singer, but by then the damage was done and it was too late for them to recover the ground they had lost during all the confusion. The band then went on hiatus until 1997 when the original singer returned for their comeback album Evergreen, and they have continued to put out albums and tour periodically since then.
I always waited for this music video to be played in our local MTV station in the 80s during lunch time as well as the other best new wave music videos back in the day.
That's what I'm thinking, just discovering them today after hearing a song on 91X. Recently discovered The Church too. It's neat because I can go back to the 80's when I was a kid.
Awesome track - loved this band!! Truly captured the mood of the 80’s!! Could listen to this all night!! 😁😁😁
I feel so lucky to have grown up in the 80s. Only those who grew up in the 50's were as lucky or luckier than us.
80s music will never die‼️
