The Ump was jealous of the pitchers hair. To be fair, he does have nice hair. He's using the sweat from his hair and rosen bag for grip. I forgot who it was, but a pitcher showed that a little sweat and rosen works just as well as sticky stuff.
Has no one thought that he is setting up a routine so that in the future he can add some sticky stuff to the hair for important games. If you get away with shady looking tactics early, later on people dismiss those actions as part of your "routine". If I was the umpire, I would check him every inning.
It's most likely just sweat, but i was thinking it too. Seemed like h was doing it to get caught, the back and forth from the hair to the rosen was painful. I understand the manager's irritation. Does seem like he could have been baiting it.
Yup, and Tito voiced his opinion on that. The checking is fine, but its cheap to interrupt an at-bat. Karinchak does the same fidgety routine even when hes in the bullpen warming up, its just his thing.

The hair collects his sweat the sweat mixes with the rosin and is stickier then just rosin. It's more an equalizer then anything because it only helps guys without sweaty palms. The downside is that if it becomes norm then they absolutely could put something in their hair and it would be easier to overlook.

He also always looks up to god, not in a praying way, but like a "I dont have the talent to be able to do this please help me", even in a situation where its not that serious. He takes a year to pitch, if he comes in after a starter, the game slows down 3 fold. Also he has 2 pitches, he is easy to guess as a hitter. His jitteriness pisses me off too. I was watching the Royals Guardians game last week and his pre pitch routine is a bit “extensive” but the hair touching got me thinking of the sticky stuff.

I have an axnious tick I pretty much always do that probably looks super weird to other people, and my sister always pushes her tongue against the inside of her mouth when she's concentrating. He could always be cheating, but this just seemed normal to me
what..... I wouldnt be surprised if he was just grabbing his hair to get sweat because he always grabbed rosin afterward, and sweat + rosin is good for grip
I remember when Clay Buchholz was on the Red Sox. He had his hair long and would get it dripping wet between innings to wipe hand on it. Can you still lick hand for grip? 🤔🤔🤔

Unless he has some sort of hair product I’m not familiar with he’s probably just using sweat and rosin, which is legal. Really annoying though with how long he takes though.

@@TWISTEDGiraff3 He's probably doing it on purpose, but it's become a routine. It being a ritual doesn't mean there's no purpose behind it.
The Ump was jealous of the pitchers hair. To be fair, he does have nice hair. He's using the sweat from his hair and rosen bag for grip. I forgot who it was, but a pitcher showed that a little sweat and rosen works just as well as sticky stuff.
it I’m not mistaken it was Bauer. But yea he was just mixing sweat and rosin which is completely legal
@@bradreed8938 Yeah. Thats right. I remember now. I was like "Why use spider tack when you can just use sweat and rosin?"
@@soulknife20 spider tack is several levels of magnitude stickier
@@kirkprospector4958 But sweat and rosin is legal.
@@bradreed8938 didn’t Bauer also say that sunscreen mixed with rosin was also quite effective?
Has no one thought that he is setting up a routine so that in the future he can add some sticky stuff to the hair for important games. If you get away with shady looking tactics early, later on people dismiss those actions as part of your "routine". If I was the umpire, I would check him every inning.
4D chess right there. I like it
That’s smart as hell actually wtf
It's most likely just sweat, but i was thinking it too. Seemed like h was doing it to get caught, the back and forth from the hair to the rosen was painful. I understand the manager's irritation. Does seem like he could have been baiting it.
Gaylord Perry special
If using the sweat and rosin works the same as he did when he cheated before does he really need to make his pitches even better
I was watching this live and am a guardians fan but the hair grabbing was driving me nuts!!
Hahaha I live for this!! 🤣 "are you sure? nothing?"
This should’ve never happened in the middle of an at bat.
When the manager knows his team isn't good enough to win the game.
Yup, and Tito voiced his opinion on that. The checking is fine, but its cheap to interrupt an at-bat. Karinchak does the same fidgety routine even when hes in the bullpen warming up, its just his thing.
Yeah agreed. This is getting out of hand with having to check people’s hair now.
@@ripvanrevs that’s the real answer
HUGE missed opportunity by Jomboy to put in a plug for Keeps products
Jimmy we need a breakdown on the Mets pinch running with their pitcher. Weird rules thing
He just wanted a scalp massage
Man I don't even play baseball anymore but this commentary is priceless man 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That Mario 64 Water level theme at the end when Jomboy was caressing that guy's hair 😂
This better be a Head and Shoulders commercials
I went to HS with Ted Barrett’s kid.
I didn’t believe him but he brought a WS ball from the BOS v COL series.
I always liked Barrett bc of that. He seems like a genuine guy
Ted and I are best friends..one of the greatest families EVER !!!!!.Ted is amazing
The ump looked from the top, he always went underneath the back of his hair, always. Nay patting down but an upward motion.
"They had him undo his belt" lol that's hilarious
He didn't mention they checked him in the middle of an at bat, which they are not permitted to do. Francona couldn't argue it because they would look guilty.
The hair collects his sweat the sweat mixes with the rosin and is stickier then just rosin. It's more an equalizer then anything because it only helps guys without sweaty palms. The downside is that if it becomes norm then they absolutely could put something in their hair and it would be easier to overlook.
Pitchers like him is why they going do a pitch timer. This is beyond ridiculous

"Undo his belt."
Who trained Jomboy in lip reading? Dudes solid 😂
I don't even watch baseball but these videos of people theoretically cheating at the game are always funny
This type of thing will only incourage pitch clocks. Sweat and rosin shouldn't be an issue, but this guy does it to an obsessive level
Cuz he's not using sweat he's using pomade 😆
@@jcarey1983 didn’t look like he had any sort of pomade and the ump definitely would have noticed how sticky sweaty pomade hair is
It's no different that batters stepping out of the box, tapping their bat to their cleats, restrapping their batting gloves, etc, etc...
@@sparks6177 most male cosmetic brands have a Matte pomade now so it doesn't look like you have anything in your hair so you can keep the "natural look" but still shape your hair
@@jcarey1983 yeah but all those will feel sticky when your hair is sweaty, the ump definitely would have felt it
so basically his hair has sweat in it and the mixture between sweat and rosan creates a sticky mixture. Trevor Bauer actually made a video on this and showed that you cold hold a ball come up just by sticking it to your hand with the mixture.
Former MLB pitcher during that broadcast brought up the sweat/rosin paste thing. Umps know it’s happening, but has not been added to the league rule book to officially outlaw it practice.
You need to add a little sunscreen to it to get it that sticky but it's fairly sticky without it.
Yeah I mean this is nothing new. Rosin has been around for decades and decades.

"Hair, rosin, ball, rosin, hair, ball, hair, rosin..." 😄
Now ima.throw it in their faces Ball hair rosin ball hair rosin ball hair rosin 😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂 yo Jimmy u the best im seriously cracking the fuck up at 2.40am
Karinchak is so fidgety I love it. He flicks the ball up to himself a dozen times between pitches. He must be very love/hate
like a modern-day Zack Greinke
I saw him rapping to himself once after finishing a scoreless inning (against Toronto I think) a while back. I had a laugh
I remember the Mariners had to play him a few weeks ago, he was "annoying". Still a good pitcher though! (Annoying in a good way).
Im a Guardians fan....there are is an enormous amount of words I can use to describe how much I dislike this guy. For one, he walks a guy or two everytime he comes in, for seconds...he nearly throws everygame and gets lucky. After he gets lucky he get hype like he did something incredible. I wish he wasnt on Clevelands team.
@@oldben1800 When someone "gets lucky" time and again, it's probably a good indication that it's not luck. Karinchak is a good pitcher.

His shit gets old fast.i?
Cricket has a long history of sticky stuff and scuffing the ball etc
Aussie sandpaper vibes
@@---mn9fr But sadly we never saw David Shepherd gently caress Dizzy's locks...
I'm not a pitcher but my experience with rosin is that it works better (grippier) when it's applied over a moist hand. So sweat + rosin makes perfect sense.
As some who started doing this in 4th grade do to stress or being nervous it becomes a bad habit to the point I would still pull my hair out or twist it even when I’m relaxing. My sisters would call me patchy from the bald spots it would leave
Props to the editor for using Super Mario 64 music for the hair touch. I understood that reference.
This is why we need the pitch clock 😂

Kiss necklace cross, tongue your hand, touch hair, touch bag, look aloof, step off mound, touch hair again…. For real.
Not a twins fan but it feels like the manger can never catch a break. It’s noticeable how much he cares about his team, but sucks how much he’s gotten the short of end of the stick this season.
I don't think I've watched a single baseball game in my entire life but this video was recommended to me and I watched the entire thing 🤣
bro you made this clip hilarious i was lmfao the whole time.
Please cover Francona losing his shit on the umps yesterday… I’ve never seen him that pissed!
I mean it couldve been a nervous tic, a routine/ritual thing, sweat from head/hair creeping on the ear/neck, the hair itself on his right side seems to creep around the ear than his left.
I've done that when i started to grow out my hair and it reached that length, hell I still do and I got 2 foot dreads.
I noticed Darvish doing this a lot earlier in the season. Now he has a fade so maybe I was wrong.
When Dire Dire Docks came on at the very end of this video I could not stop laughing !
For some reason, this particular Jomboy video tickles the the funny bone more than usual lol.
"... hair, ball, rosin, hair, ball, rosin,... hair hair, rosin rosin"
As an Indians fan James need “Wild Thing” played every time he comes out lol
There are even better songs for long hair pitchers or batters. But yours is good too.
Karinchak just using Keeps to make his spin rate grow.
I was watching the Royals Guardians game last week and his pre pitch routine is a bit “extensive” but the hair touching got me thinking of the sticky stuff.
I understand sticky stuff is a really common thing and he's been pretty obvious using it in the past but this just seems like a calming/self soothing or even concentration thing to me. I have an axnious tick I pretty much always do that probably looks super weird to other people, and my sister always pushes her tongue against the inside of her mouth when she's concentrating. He could always be cheating, but this just seemed normal to me
Seems pretty obvious that he's just mixing sweat from his hair with rosin.
It may be the weed talking but that video is absolutely hilarious 😆 😂
Hair is now illegal in 2022. Baseball remains undefeated. #FireManfred
He’s going to hate the pitch clock lmao
what.....
I wouldnt be surprised if he was just grabbing his hair to get sweat because he always grabbed rosin afterward, and sweat + rosin is good for grip
My thought exactly. My mind immediately went to Trevor Bauer's demonstration last year of what sweat and rosin can do.
Jomboy literally said that in the video, that is almost certainly what he's doing
@@survivorchallenges I said this before i even watched the video lol
@@seandecker1632 yeah same lmao

This was awesome. Haven’t laughed so hard in awhile
We not going to talk about how clean the ball toss is everytime he gets the ball?
We can talk about how you edited your post but still used shit grammar.
Karinchak is the kind of guy you ABSOLUTELY HATE unless he’s on your team
I remember when Clay Buchholz was on the Red Sox. He had his hair long and would get it dripping wet between innings to wipe hand on it. Can you still lick hand for grip? 🤔🤔🤔
4:05 😂 bro tht pitcher is PETTY or he got a thing for his hair , gotta love it lmaoo
Reminds me of dr.evil petting Mr.bigglesworth
Imagine the hair thing was just a diversion. He was doing something else every few pitches to get sticky stuff back on his fingers and just used the hair to get everyone to think that's how he was getting it, but in reality it was on the back of his legs every time he "wiped off" lol
Next season, he’ll only have 15-20 seconds between pitches, so he’ll have to hustle it up.
I don't think he took more than 25-30 seconds
That routine by the pitcher would make a good shampoo or hair gel ad for some companies. 🤣🤣
"Hair, hair, rosin, ball, hair, ball, rosin, hair, ball, rosin, rosin"
This is the baseball version of "head, shoulders, knees and toes"
He should of been grabbing his junk 😂
At first I thought this was a minor league breakdown and then I remembered the Indians became the guardians 😂
Unless he has some sort of hair product I’m not familiar with he’s probably just using sweat and rosin, which is legal. Really annoying though with how long he takes though.
One of the funniest “cheating” scandals in baseball 😂
Congrats on the great article on the "Times". Keep killing it!
